Abstract

Health services are one of the fundamental needs of society and play a crucial role in determining quality of life and social welfare. However, limited access to routine health check-ups and low public awareness of the importance of early disease detection remain significant challenges in many areas, including Bumi Ayu Village. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to establish a partnership between STIA Lancang Kuning, local health centers, and the community to improve health services through basic health examinations. The program was implemented using health education sessions, interactive discussions, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. The health examinations included blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, and uric acid checks. The results indicate an improvement in community knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of routine health examinations as a preventive measure against disease. Active community participation throughout the program reflects positive acceptance of the established partnership model. This activity demonstrates that collaboration between higher education institutions, health professionals, and the community can serve as an effective strategy to enhance the quality of local health services.

Abstract

Family plays a strategic role as a source of aspiration for its members in shaping human resource quality and sustainable social development. However, various challenges remain, including limited understanding of the importance of emotional support, harmonious communication, and educational roles within the family. This community service activity aims to enhance public awareness and understanding of the family’s role as a source of aspiration for family members in Rimba Sekampung Village, Dumai City. A participatory approach was employed through socialization activities, interactive presentations, group discussions, and the development of informational media. The results indicate an improvement in community awareness and understanding of the importance of harmonious families, reflected in initial changes in attitudes and behaviors, increased support for family members’ education, and the emergence of community leaders and youth as local change agents. This activity also fostered collective awareness of the family’s role in human resource development, contributing to the potential for sustainable social transformation.

Abstract

Village financial management is a strategic instrument in supporting development and improving community welfare. However, in practice, village financial management is often not fully based on the actual needs of the community and lacks public participation in budgeting and oversight processes. This community service activity aims to enhance community understanding and participation in needs-based financial management in Pakning Asal Village. The activity employed a descriptive and participatory approach through socialization, interactive presentations, open discussions, and the dissemination of informational media. The participants included village officials, community leaders, and residents of Pakning Asal Village. The results indicate an improvement in participants' understanding of transparent, accountable, and community-oriented village financial management principles. Furthermore, the activity fostered collective awareness of the importance of active community involvement in planning, implementing, and evaluating the use of village funds. Overall, this community service program contributes to strengthening participatory village financial governance and supports the realization of more effective and sustainable village development.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to evaluate the implementation of teacher professional development policies in the digital era from a public administration perspective. The activity was conducted through socialization and mentoring sessions for teachers at SDN 2 Bukit Batu on March 7, 2024. A descriptive and participatory approach was employed, using interactive presentations, case studies, and the distribution of informational materials. The results indicate that some teachers still experience difficulties in understanding teacher professional development policies, particularly in relation to the use of digital technology in administration and learning processes. However, the socialization activities improved teachers' understanding of policy objectives, professional development strategies, and the importance of digital adaptation in supporting professional performance. The activity also fostered educational collaboration and generated innovative ideas for improving administration. Overall, this community service program contributes to strengthening human resource capacity at the school level and supports the effective implementation of public policies in the education sector.

Abstract

Public health is a fundamental pillar of regional development as it directly affects the quality of life, productivity, and social welfare of the community. At the local level, the village head (lurah) plays a strategic role in encouraging community participation and coordinating public health programs. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to analyze the role of the village head in improving public health through a public administration approach in Bumi Ayu Subdistrict, Dumai City. The methods applied in this program include counseling, training, simulation, and free health screening services using an educational approach. The activity was conducted on July 20, 2024, at STIA Lancang Kuning Campus and involved more than 100 participants from various community groups. The results indicate an increased public awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups and early detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and uric acid disorders. In addition, the program strengthened the roles of the village heads, Posyandu cadres, and PKK members in supporting community health services. The discussion reveals that the success of public health programs at the subdistrict level is strongly influenced by participatory, collaborative, and responsive local leadership. This PKM activity is expected to serve as a model for strengthening the role of local government in promoting sustainable community health development.

Abstract

This community service program was motivated by the suboptimal role of Dasawisma as a grassroots community organization in improving family welfare. Several Dasawisma groups still faced challenges in organizational management, low member participation, and limited understanding of productive and sustainable activity management. The objective of this program was to strengthen the organizational capacity of Dasawisma, increase member participation, and foster a spirit of solidarity and independence toward family welfare. The methods applied included a participatory approach through counseling sessions, group discussions, simple organizational management practices, and mentoring of Dasawisma activities. The results indicated an improvement in members’ understanding of organizational functions and the importance of structured activity planning. Members became more actively involved in preparing work programs, maintaining simple administrative records, and implementing productive and social activities. Behavioral changes were also observed, including increased collective responsibility, stronger cooperation among members, and the emergence of several local leaders. Furthermore, the program fostered a new awareness that Dasawisma is not merely a routine meeting forum, but a platform for empowering women and families toward sustainable welfare improvement.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and capacity of Dasawisma members in implementing the core Dasawisma programs as an effort to support family health development and community-based empowerment. The activity was conducted at Dasawisma Asoka RT 07, Bukit Timah Sub-district, Dumai Selatan District, Dumai City. The methods used included lectures, simulations, and discussion sessions tailored to the characteristics of adult learners and community practitioners. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of the roles, functions, and importance of the core Dasawisma programs. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and active participation throughout the activity and were able to identify challenges and needs in implementing Dasawisma activities in their neighborhood. This activity contributed positively to strengthening the role of Dasawisma as a frontline community institution in supporting family health programs, environmental cleanliness, and social welfare at the neighborhood level. Continuous assistance is recommended to ensure that the knowledge gained can be consistently implemented and generate sustainable impacts for the community.

Abstract

Learning Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh taharah) is an important foundation in developing correct worship habits in children. This community service research examines the implementation of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh taharah) learning at Majlis Taklim Al Falah Tangerang with the aim of improving knowledge, practical skills in ablution, and the capacity of teachers in teaching children. The method used is an asset-based community development (ABCD) approach and a participatory-educational approach that combines short theory sessions, demonstrations, repeated practice, and non-written practical evaluations. Data were collected through observation, interviews, direct practice, and formative evaluations during the activities. The results show an increase in participants' conceptual understanding of hadas and najis (impurity) and improved ablution practical skills, characterized by enthusiasm, the ability to imitate the ablution sequence more accurately, and a positive response to practical learning methods. In addition, the program encourages teachers' awareness to implement skills-based evaluation and enrich learning methods according to children's characteristics. In conclusion, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh taharah) learning at Majlis Taklim is more effective when it is practice-oriented, participatory, and sustainable; Follow-up recommendations include routine ablution practices, pedagogical training for teachers, and the provision of simple media to support learning.

Abstract

This community service aims to enhance the visual creativity of early childhood children through collage art activities at SMAN 3 Medan. In the current digital era, children are often exposed to passive visual media, which can hinder the development of their active creativity. Through the collage art approach, students are given the freedom to create using various materials such as colored paper, origami, and glue, which stimulate fine motor skills and visual creativity. The research method used involved direct guidance in creating collages, followed by the presentation of material about collage art and the steps for creating it. The results of the community service show that collage activities can improve students' creativity, visual expression, and fine motor skills. Additionally, these activities can also boost students' self-confidence in expressing themselves freely and creatively. These findings suggest that collage art can serve as an effective medium in art education at the elementary school level and is highly beneficial for fostering children's creativity from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation and impact of an English training workshop for early childhood education teachers in Surakarta. The study employed a program evaluation design using a qualitative descriptive approach involving twenty playgroup and kindergarten teachers. The workshop was conducted over four days and was designed based on a needs analysis obtained through a pre-test and preliminary interviews. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test results, reflective questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that the workshop had a positive impact on participants’ English proficiency as well as their affective aspects, particularly their confidence in using English in the classroom. The thematic analysis identified three main themes: emotional responses, understanding of the material, and collaboration. Participants demonstrated increased enthusiasm, reduced anxiety, and improved self-confidence. Contextual and practical materials helped participants connect theoretical concepts with classroom practice. Furthermore, interactive activities and collaborative discussions strengthened professional engagement and peer learning. These findings confirm that structured and needs-based training is effective in supporting the sustainable professional development of early childhood education teachers and contributes to improving the quality of English instruction in the classroom.
