Abstract

This research aims to collect and analyze articles related to the use of the TikTok health application to increase public awareness and education. This research uses the SLR method, namely an orderly writing survey. The use of the TikTok application in the health sector has become an effective way to increase public awareness and education. By organizing short videos that are easy to access and interesting, TikTok allows medical personnel, health experts and related agencies to convey health information in a more interactive and easy to understand manner, especially for young people. Uploaded content covers various topics, such as healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, vaccinations, and relevant medical information. The research results show that the use of TikTok as a health education medium is effective in reaching the wider community, especially teenagers and young adults, and has a positive impact in increasing health awareness. However, there are challenges in ensuring the credibility of information and countering misinformation that can also spread on this stage. Therefore, the role of health professionals in creating trustworthy and educational content is very important.

Abstract

The prevalence of antibiotic resistance is a serious global health problem and a threat to human health. Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive bacterium that can cause various infections in humans, such as skin infections, sepsis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and toxins that cause food poisoning. One way to overcome the problem of antibiotic resistance is to use Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). LAB has many benefits, including being able to function in food fermentation, produce antimicrobial compounds, and act as probiotics. This study aims to determine the inhibitory effect of LAB from baby feces as a natural antibacterial agent against S. aureus. The method used in this study was the agar well diffusion method. The number of LAB isolates used was 8 consisting of seven cocci and two bacilli forms and also used 2 controls, namely, negative control NaCl 0.9% and Positive Control Ciprofloxacin. This study consisted of six stages including media preparation, preparation of test bacteria, sample preparation, making suspensions of S. aureus and LAB, making Mcfarland solution, and antibacterial testing using the agar well diffusion method for 3 repetitions of the treatment. The results obtained showed that all LAB isolates were able to produce an inhibition zone against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with the results of the isolates in diameter 01A 10-5 (7.67mm), 01A 10-6(2) (6mm), 03A10-7(1) (6.67mm), 01F 10-6(2) (2mm), 01F10-7(2) (1.67mm), 02AF10-7(1) (4.33mm), 03AF10-7(2) (4mm), 04AF10-7 (3.67mm). Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney test, it was found that all LAB isolates had significant differences from the positive control Ciprofloxacin. So it can be seen that LAB from baby feces is less effective in replacing antibiotics.

Abstract

Good sleep quality is crucial for the physical and mental health of the elderly. However, many elderly individuals experience a decline in sleep quality as they age. According to WHO, 40-70% of the elderly worldwide face sleep issues, such as difficulty falling asleep or frequent awakenings during the night. In Indonesia, this problem is increasing, including in the Haur Gading Health Center area. Anxiety, or excessive worry, is one factor that can worsen the sleep quality of the elderly, especially related to health concerns and dependence on others. This study aims to analyze the relationship between anxiety and sleep quality in the elderly at Haur Gading Health Center. This study used a descriptive correlational quantitative approach with 30 elderly respondents selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Most elderly respondents experienced moderate anxiety (63.3%) and poor sleep quality (60%). Pearson correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between anxiety and sleep quality (p = 0.009). High anxiety contributes to the decline in sleep quality in the elderly. Those experiencing moderate to severe anxiety tend to have worse sleep quality. Addressing anxiety through psychological interventions is expected to improve sleep quality and the well-being of the elderly. There is a significant relationship between anxiety and sleep quality in the elderly. Anxiety management interventions are needed to enhance the quality of life of the elderly.

Abstract

Tetanus is an acute disease that affects the central nervous system caused by tetanospasmin toxin produced by Clostridium tetani. Tetanus is a deadly disease in developing countries, killing approximately 500,000 people per year. This is due to lack of hygiene, easy contamination, poor wound care, lack of public awareness of the importance of hygiene and tetanus vaccination. In general, tetanus is characterized by rigidity, muscle spasm and autonomic disorders. Spasms almost always occur in the neck and jaw muscles causing jaw closure (trismus, lockjaw) and involve not only the extremity muscles, but also the trunk muscles. Tetanus is not transmitted from human to human and can be prevented through immunization. Clostridium tetani is quite widespread in nature and cannot be eradicated. To reduce the number of cases, tetanus treatment efforts focus on prevention using vaccination with active immunization or passive immunization and post-exposure care.

Abstract

The workload of nurses in general surgery wards is a crucial issue in hospital nursing management, especially in high-intensity units. A high workload can affect the quality of care and the health of nurses. Nurses who experience a high workload are prone to physical and mental fatigue, which can impact patient safety. This study aims to evaluate the workload of nurses in the general surgery ward at Puruk Cahu Regional General Hospital. This is a descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The sample consisted of 23 nurses working in the general surgery ward at Puruk Cahu Regional General Hospital, using the total sampling method. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics to evaluate the frequency distribution and workload. The majority of nurses (65.2%) experienced a moderate workload, while 21.7% experienced a high workload. A moderate workload allows nurses to work efficiently, but nurses with a high workload are at significant risk of fatigue. Additionally, permanent nurses dominated the staff (60.9%), and 39.1% of the nurses had 1-5 years of work experience. A moderate workload is an ideal condition for most nurses to maintain the quality of care. However, high workloads require more attention from hospital management to prevent fatigue and burnout. Regular workload evaluations and management strategies that support nurse well-being are needed.

Abstract

The immune response to mercury is unique, it can be immunosuppressive and immunomodulative. The immune response to mercury begins with exposure to mercury from the environment originating from natural activities such as volcanic activity and human activities such as gold processing from artisanal small scale gold mining and chlorine alkali factories, or from consumption mercury- contaminated fish. These mercury sources release inorganic and organic mercury which enters the human body through inhalation, ingestion and absorption through the skin. The entry of mercury into the body will induce innate and adaptive immune responses. The immune response to mercury is immunomodulative and triggers proinflammatory substances production. This mechanism is the pathological basis for clinical manifestations of mercury intoxication in the kidneys, central nervous system, respiratory tract and skin.
