Abstract

Tidal floods are a natural phenomenon where sea water seeps onto land when sea levels rise, which can cause damage to property and even loss of life. Indah Fisherman's Village means one of the Medan Labuhan Districts, Medan City, North Sumatra. Nelayan Indah Village is an area that is prone to flooding caused by high tides. Method: This research uses a qualitative research methodology with a descriptive analytical approach. Researchers using this research method aim to provide an overview of the risk of flood disasters in the Belawan area. Objective: The aim of this research is to identify and analyze the level of risk faced by the people of the Belawan area, as well as formulate effective mitigation strategies to reduce the impact of this disaster on society and the environment. Results: The results of this research are that sea water is getting higher, water infiltration is no longer there, causing water to go towards land because there is no barrier because several mangrove plants are submerged, the fort is destroyed, because the waves drag the boat to land so it hits the fort and causes the fort to be destroyed or It can be called abrasion, damage to embankments due to eroding ship movements, broken embankments increase the risk of flooding. Conclusion: The results of this study highlight that tidal floods have the potential to harm people's livelihoods, damage household infrastructure, and disrupt economic activities and daily life but for fishermen it is profitable in their livelihoods because they get stranded fish.

Abstract

Patients with appendicitis are a very common problem in the community. Complications that often arise due to appendicitis include perforation, so it is necessary to treat quickly for appendicectomy. Appendicectomy can cause complications such as acute pain, to overcome pain problems in patients, pain management is needed, namely distraction using stress balls. This Ners Final Scientific Work was carried out to determine the analysis of nursing care in post appendicitis patients with acute pain nursing problems through the provision of distraction using stress balls. The results of the assessment obtained the main complaints of the three patients were pain in the surgical wound in the lower right abdomen, a scale of 5-7, a nursing plan to provide distraction using a stress ball, nursing action by providing distraction using a stress ball carried out for 2 x meetings. The results of nursing evaluations carried out on the three managed cases showed that all of them experienced a decrease in pain from a moderate pain scale to a mild pain scale. It is recommended to Klungkung Regional General Hospital to establish distraction using stress ball as a standard operating procedure in pain management.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the quality of life of male patients undergoing hemodialysis using the KDQOL-SF (Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form) instrument. Hemodialysis is a crucial therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), but it has a significant impact on the patients' quality of life, both physically and psychosocially. The population selected in this study consists of CKD patients currently undergoing hemodialysis in Malang. The sample will include 100 patients aged 50-70 years in Malang. The collected data will then be statistically analyzed using Chi-square and Spearman's rank correlation test. Based on the Spearman correlation, the quality of life of chronic kidney patients increased by 59% and was shown to have a significant effect. Men generally tend to be less emotionally expressive and are more likely to internalize their burdens. If they lack a supportive psychosocial environment, feelings of loneliness and isolation increase, worsening depressive symptoms. Kidney disease causes an accumulation of toxins (uremia), which is known to affect brain function and mood. Hormonal imbalances due to kidney dysfunction may also lead to decreased levels of serotonin and testosterone, contributing to depression and reduced energy. It is recommended to conduct longitudinal studies to observe the psychological changes in male patients from the start of therapy to the following years. It is also important to explore gender-sensitive approaches, as men and women have different ways of coping with chronic illness. Focusing on masculinity, social roles, and self-identity could be a relevant research theme.

Abstract

Background: Depression is a mental disorder characterized by sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt, low self-esteem, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite (either decreased or increased), fatigue, and lack of concentration. Anxiety, on the other hand, refers to tension, insecurity, and worry that arise due to unpleasant circumstances. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health issues are more likely to occur in adolescents, a transitional phase from childhood to adulthood. The prevalence of depression and anxiety among adolescents in Indonesia is 20.8% and 34.6%, respectively. The Adolescent Care Health Service (PKPR) is a government program aimed at preventing health issues among individuals aged 10–19 years at community health centers (Puskesmas). Objective: This study aims to examine the implementation of the Adolescent Care Health Service (PKPR) in addressing cases of depression and anxiety at the Grogol Petamburan Public Health Center. Methods: The study employed a descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Secondary data were collected through interviews with PKPR staff at the Grogol Petamburan Public Health Center using the SDQ-25 questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive analysis. Results: Counseling data revealed that among 20 cases of depression handled, 14 showed improvement, while 6 were referred to the hospital. Regarding anxiety cases, 15 cases were addressed, of which 11 showed improvement, and 4 were referred to the hospital. Conclusion: The high prevalence of depression and anxiety among adolescents is attributed to the lack of public knowledge in Grogol Petamburan about prevention, symptoms, and management of these conditions.

Abstract

In Indonesia’s coastal areas, especially along the North coast of Java, tidal floods are a significant natural disaster threat. This disaster had a serious impact on environmental conditions and resulted in changes in the social and economic order of local communities. A study was conducted to assess the social and economic impacts of tidal flooding on Romantis Beach which is located in Sei Naga Lawan Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research aims to identify economic and social impacts on society, as well as analyze mitigation efforts carried out by the government. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach by collecting data through in-depth interviews. Resource persons include local government officials, affected residents, and communities who have lived in the Romantis Beach area for at least five years. Research findings reveal a significant decline in people’s income, especially those who depend on the fisheries and tourism sectors for their living. Daily income, which previously reached IDR 500,000, decreased to IDR 300,000 after the tidal flood. This condition forces some residents to change professions to survive. From a social aspect, there was no conflict found in society. On the contrary, this disaster actually strengthened community solidarity in recovery efforts. Even though long-term mitigation efforts such as the construction of wave breakers have been hampered due to limited funds, the community remains united in restoring conditions. The local government contributes by building green open spaces as water catchment areas. To increase community resilience, greater attention is needed from various par’ies including the government, NGOs and the private sector in supporting long-term economic recovery and infrastructure development programs.

Abstract

Floods that often hit Sei Serindan Village, Sei Kepayang District, Asahan Regency, cause various problems related to clean water quality and sanitation. This study aims to analyze the impact of flood disasters on water quality, cleanliness, and sanitation and their effects on public health. The method used is qualitative descriptive research with a case study approach, through in-depth interviews with Village Heads, Hamlet Heads, and field observations. The results of the study showed that floods occur every year with a long duration, which causes pollution of water sources by waste and dirt. A total of 1,072 heads of families (70%) still use water with poor quality and have personal hygiene problems, while 460 heads of families (30%) already use clean water and have good personal hygiene. This difference is caused by economic factors, where middle to low-income families rely on polluted river water, even though they have made filtering efforts. Meanwhile, middle to high-income families have used PAM water. Although the community has used healthy toilets, floods cause waste management problems and pile up of garbage, which results in dirty environmental conditions and an increase in skin diseases such as scabies. The village government does not yet have a structured program for flood disaster management and clean water quality improvement. This study recommends the need for more attention from local and central governments to provide effective programs in dealing with clean water and sanitation problems in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) noted that Indonesia is included in the list of countries with the highest TB burden in the world, with significant incidence in various age groups and socio-economic. TB spreads through the air, especially when people cough, sneeze, talk, or spit out, which secrete small droplets containing bacteria. This article aims to provide a more detailed overview of the prevalence of TB in Martubung Village, as well as present data that can be used as a reference in designing effective disease control strategies. The research method using the descriptive quantitative research method is an approach that aims to describe or describe phenomena that occur in the field based on the data obtained. This study uses numerical data processed by statistical means to get a clearer picture of the phenomenon being studied. The results of the study showed that from a survey conducted on 35 respondents, it was found that 6 of them were confirmed to have Tuberculosis (TB), which means 17.14% of the total respondents. One of the TB cases led to death, so that the fatality rate in this group reached 16.67%. Although this number is not very high, it still shows that tuberculosis can be fatal if not treated properly. The conclusion of this study shows the importance of increasing public awareness about the symptoms, modes of transmission, and the importance of early treatment to reduce the incidence and mortality rate due to TB.

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease, stroke, renal failure, and blindness, and it is a primary cause of mortality globally. This study aims to analyse the prevalence of hypertension in coastal areas in relation to socio-demographic factors and dietary habits. This study employs a questionnaire approach using a cross-sectional design conducted in December 2024, utilising a sample of 50 participants. This study aims to determine the prevalence of hypertension in the Belawan 1 region and identify contributing variables, including excessive salt intake, insufficient physical exercise, stress, smoking, and genetic predisposition. The following variables contribute to the development of hypertension. Summary: This research seeks to examine the prevalence of hypertension in coastal areas, including socio-demographic factors and dietary habits. The used technique is a questionnaire using a cross-sectional design. “The study findings indicate that many individuals lack comprehension of hypertension and have identified several contributing elements to its development, including a high-salt diet, insufficient physical exercise, stress, smoking, and hereditary predispositions. These results underscore the need of enhancing public knowledge about hypertension and its causative elements, along with the imperative for instruction on healthy lifestyles to avert this condition.
