Abstract

This study used a quantitative approach with a total of 373 respondents who were K-pop fans using the Bubble app and who felt emotionally close to their idols. Sampling in this study used non-probability sampling with purposive sampling techniques. In determining the measurement tools, the researcher used tools that had been modified and adapted according to the needs of the study, including the Parasocial Interaction Scale (PSI) short version, De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale, Need to Belong Scale (NTBs), and The Social Presence Scale. To determine the validity of the measurement tools, the researchers used LISREL 8.8 software with CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) techniques and tested the hypotheses using multiple regression techniques on the IBM SPSS 27 application. Based on the multiple regression test results, it was found that there was a significant influence of all independent variables on the dependent variable of 49.3%, while 50.7% was influenced by other variables outside this study. Based on the hypothesis test, four independent variables had a significant effect on the dependent variable, namely emotional loneliness, social loneliness, social presence, and frequency of bubble access. For further research, it is hoped that tests will be conducted on populations across Indonesia, fans who use other applications such as Weverse, Weibo, Instagram, or other applications, and research samples will be taken from various types of social media used by fans to support their activities.

Abstract

Posyandu for the elderly is a community-based primary health care service aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly through routine health monitoring, education, and basic check-ups. In the Air Besar Community Health Center working area, this program has been running, but the participation rate is still low. Of the 1,275 elderly registered, only 120 (9.4%) were recorded as utilizing this service. This low number of visits indicates the need to evaluate the elderly's perceptions of the quality of Posyandu services and their relationship with their level of satisfaction. This study aims to determine the relationship between the elderly's perceptions of service quality and their level of satisfaction. This study design was quantitative analytical with a cross-sectional approach and used a consecutive sampling technique on 98 elderly respondents. The instrument was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that the elderly's perception of service quality was in the good category. The empathy dimension had the highest correlation with satisfaction (r = 0.535), followed by assurance (r = 0.428), reliability (r = 0.420), responsiveness (r = 0.415), and tangible (r = 0.394). In conclusion, the quality of integrated health post (Posyandu) services is positively related to elderly satisfaction. Recommendations include increased promotion, personalized approaches to reach male elderly, training new cadres, and mobile Posyandu visits for elderly with physical or geographical limitations.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which toddlers have a shorter length or height compared to their age. This condition is measured by length or height being below minus two standard deviations of the median according to the WHO Child Growth Standards. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the incidence of stunting in toddlers at working area of UPT Belawan Health Center, Medan City in 2025. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all mothers with toddlers aged 24–59 months, totaling 2,560 individuals. A random sampling technique was used to obtain 97 respondents, plus an additional 10% reserve, resulting in 107 participants. Data collection was done through questionnaires, with primary, secondary, and tertiary data sources. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. The statistical tests applied included chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The findings revealed that exclusive breastfeeding duration (p = 0.013), the timing of complementary feeding (p = 0.002), birth weight (p = 0.001), sanitation (p = 0.004), and history of infectious diseases (p = 0.001) significantly influenced the incidence of stunting. The most dominant factor affecting stunting was the history of infectious diseases, with an Exp(B) value of 7.378. The study concluded that exclusive breastfeeding duration, timing of complementary feeding, birth weight, sanitation, and history of infectious diseases were significantly associated with stunting incidence in toddlers. It is suggested that the government, particularly health workers at public health centers, evaluate programs and enhance health promotion regarding stunting to reduce its prevalence in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a major public health issue in primary care, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. Many general practitioners continue to rely on syndromic management due to limited laboratory facilities, leading to potential underdiagnosis and suboptimal treatment. While the World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes an etiological and evidence-based approach, Indonesia’s 2023 national guideline still prioritizes syndromic management to match primary care realities. This systematic review, conducted under the PRISMA 2020 framework, compared the WHO (2021) and Indonesian Ministry of Health (2023) guidelines by analyzing 27 eligible publications and official documents. Both share core principles of early detection, effective treatment, partner notification, and prevention counseling. However, significant differences were found in diagnostic methods, antibiotic protocols, and partner management. WHO recommends laboratory-supported diagnosis, while Indonesia maintains syndromic strategies due to infrastructure constraints. To improve STI management, Indonesia should enhance diagnostic capacity, clinician training, and antimicrobial resistance surveillance through collaboration among policymakers, clinicians, and health institutions.

Abstract

Organic waste management remains a major challenge in environmental pollution control and the implementation of a circular economy in urban areas. Maggot cultivation (Black Soldier Fly larvae) has emerged as an innovative approach capable of converting organic waste into valuable products. This study aims to analyze the governance of maggot cultivation, its ecological and economic benefits, and the challenges encountered in its implementation at the Environmental and Forestry Office (DLHK) of Medan. The research employed an articulation (descriptive qualitative) approach through in-depth interviews, observations of the cultivation process, and field documentation with five informants one key informant, namely the maggot cultivation manager, and four supporting informants directly involved in the management activities. Data validity was maintained through comparison of interviews, observations, and documentation to ensure reliable and accountable information. The results show that the maggot bioconversion process significantly reduces the volume of organic waste by utilizing food scraps as larval feed. Harvested maggots are used as poultry feed and have been proven to increase cost efficiency in livestock farming. The main challenge involves changes in humidity due to weather conditions, necessitating environmental adjustments such as placing media in shaded areas and improving air circulation. Maggot cultivation at the Environmental and Forestry Office of Medan is proven feasible, sustainable, and supportive of organic waste reduction.

Abstract

Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a common dermatological complication caused by exposure to allergens, which can occur in tattooing. This case reports a 30-year-old man who experienced dermatitis lesions 1 day after a black permanent tattoo on his left arm. Symptoms appeared as pain, erythema, edema, and pustules in the tattoo area. Diagnosis was established based on clinical symptoms, tattoo procedure history, and response to therapy. Treatment with topical and systemic corticosteroids as well as antihistamines provided significant improvement in a short time, healing lesions, reducing symptoms and inflammation. However, similar cases may require more invasive procedures such as debridement and excision, especially if severe reactions occur. This case presents that black carbon ink, although often considered safe, can cause significant allergic reactions. Allergic and other skin reactions can be caused by the ink, additives, tools, and contamination such as metals. Understanding the ink composition, product regulations, and patient’s history is very important for the prevention of ACD. Case reporting and ongoing research are essential to expand tattoo safety data, clinical understanding, prevention, and management of tattoo-induced ACD.

Abstract

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has led the world to change its daily activities by prioritizing safety, one of which is by implementing health protocols. Most higher educational institutions were required to carry out the learning process using an online system, commonly referred to as the Remote Learning System, which was implemented without face-to-face meetings to prevent crowds in one room (class). This policy is stated in Circular Letter Number 4 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Education in COVID-19. Loneliness is one of the emerging issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. We found adolescents and young adults have a higher risk of loneliness (27%) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is an analytical study with a cross-sectional method, which aims to find out the relationship between loneliness and Grade Point Average (GPA) among medical students at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Jakarta enrolled in 2019 during the online learning period. The results of the study in 82 respondents showed that 17.1% of students were not lonely, 58.5% experienced mild loneliness, 22.0% experienced moderate loneliness, and 2.4% experienced severe loneliness. The hypothesis test using Kruskal-Wallis obtained a p-value of 0.707 (>0.05), indicating no significant relationship between the level of loneliness and GPA during online learning among medical students at UIN Jakarta, enrolled in 2019. Further study is suggested to use larger samples and apply other variables, other than the level of loneliness, that may influence the GPA among medical students during online learning.

Abstract

High total cholesterol levels are a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Consumption of red meat and offal, which are high in saturated fat and cholesterol, can increase total blood cholesterol levels. Dietary patterns in urban communities, including academic staff, show a tendency toward increased consumption of high-fat animal products. From an Islamic perspective, adhering to a halal and thayyib diet and avoiding excess are essential principles in maintaining health, including regulating the intake of red meat and offal. This research used a quantitative method with a prospective cohort design involving 14 days of consumption recording using an estimated food record among 38 male respondents aged < 60 years. Total cholesterol examinations were conducted before and after the study using the enzymatic method with the Mindray BS series chemistry analyzer. Normality tests were performed using Shapiro–Wilk and Kolmogorov–Smirnov. The correlation between red meat consumption and total cholesterol was analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test, while offal consumption was analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. The study results indicated a significant positive relationship between red meat consumption and changes in total cholesterol levels (r = 0,385; p = 0,017). Offal consumption also showed a significant positive relationship with changes in total cholesterol levels (rₛ = 0,419; p = 0,009). Most respondents experienced a decrease in total cholesterol levels after the study, although higher consumption of red meat and offal remained associated with increases in cholesterol levels. There is a significant relationship between the consumption of red meat and offal and total blood cholesterol levels. The higher the consumption of both, the greater the increase in total cholesterol. These findings align with Islamic principles emphasizing the importance of consuming food that is halal, thayyib, and not excessive in order to maintain physical health.

Abstract

Menopause is a natural physiological phase in women characterized by a decline in estrogen levels, which may affect the musculoskeletal system and increase susceptibility to low back pain (LBP). Low back pain is a common complaint among menopausal women and can interfere with daily activities and quality of life. Nevertheless, evidence regarding the relationship between menopausal status or age at menopause and the intensity of low back pain remains inconsistent, indicating the need for further investigation. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected from menopausal patients with low back pain at RSUD Cempaka Putih. Pain intensity was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate statistical analyses. The majority of respondents were menopausal women aged 45–55 years. Most patients experienced moderate pain intensity based on the NRS. Bivariate analysis showed no statistically significant relationship between menopausal status and NRS pain level. There was no significant relationship between menopause and the intensity of low back pain as measured by the Numeric Rating Scale. This finding suggests that low back pain in menopausal women is multifactorial and may be influenced by factors other than menopausal status alone. From an Islamic perspective, maintaining health through appropriate medical treatment and effort (ikhtiar) is part of preserving life (hifz an-nafs).
