Abstract

Moderation is derived from the word moderate, which means not excessive, balanced, or in the middle. In Indonesian, this term is adapted as moderasi, which according to the Great Dictionary of the Indonesian Language (KBBI), is defined as the reduction of violence or the avoidance of extremism. When combined with the word religious, forming religious moderation, it refers to an attitude of avoiding violence and extremism in religious practices.Indonesia, as a nation rich in cultural and religious diversity—including ethnicity, race, customs, language, and beliefs—possesses great potential to build a harmonious society. However, globalization and the openness of information pose challenges, especially with the spread of extreme and radical ideologies that threaten national unity. Thus, a solution is needed to serve as a filter in maintaining the essence of national life. Religious moderation offers a middle-ground approach to counter ideologies that are incompatible with the nation’s identity.Religious moderation does not mean merging or exchanging religious beliefs. Rather, it emphasizes the importance of tolerance and mutual respect in social interactions (mu’amalah) among religious communities. Within this context, every religious adherent is expected to uphold and respect social boundaries, avoid intolerance, extremism, and radicalism, and contribute to creating a peaceful coexistence for all. Therefore, religious moderation becomes a strategic solution in preserving diversity and strengthening national values within the framework of Pancasila ideology.

Abstract

Educational management that is too soft has changed the characteristics of students and made them no longer responsible and negligent of their obligations. Thus, a more assertive and authoritarian class management is needed to train students' abilities to obey the rules and understand their obligations. By studying case studies that have been conducted by previous researchers, researchers will make a summary and discussion to integrate various previous studies. After summarizing from various sources of literature, the results obtained were that authoritarian class management had more negative impacts than positive impacts, but the positive impacts produced were very useful for students' lives in the future, while the positive impacts had more influence on the pleasure and interest factors of students who did not enjoy the class management system implemented by their teachers. However, it can be concluded that authoritarian class management does not necessarily have to be rejected but should be implemented but integrated with other methods so that learning can be accepted by students.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological development, critical and creative thinking skills are important competencies that must be possessed by students to face real-world challenges. The learning strategy for improving thinking ability (SPPKB) is a learning approach that focuses on developing students' thinking skills through the analysis of facts or experiences and active problem solving. This learning model involves stages of onboarding, experience tracking, problem confrontation, inquiry, accommodation, and transfer to guide students to discover concepts independently and apply noble values such as honesty. In addition, this strategy demands active student involvement, increased motivation, and the use of technology and discussion methods to create a conducive learning environment. Although it has advantages in developing critical thinking skills, this strategy also faces challenges such as the need for sufficient time and the readiness of teachers and students in its implementation. With the right implementation, this learning strategy can increase students' thinking potential optimally and is relevant to the demands of modern education.

Abstract

Teaching English vocabulary to young learners requires engaging and structured instructional methods to enhance retention and practical usage. This study explores the effectiveness of Thematic-Based Learning (TBL) in teaching scouting-related vocabulary to elementary school students. Over five teaching sessions, students were introduced to scouting objects, ranks, nature words, simple commands, and camping activities through structured activities such as verbal repetition, Q&A exercises, and board-based word matching tasks. The study focused on three key aspects: (1) vocabulary retention, (2) vocabulary usage in communication, and (3) student motivation and engagement. Findings indicate that students retained words more effectively when they were concrete and visually relatable, whereas abstract terms and multi-word expressions were more challenging to remember. Students demonstrated strong word recognition but struggled to use the vocabulary in full sentences, highlighting the need for additional communicative reinforcement. Motivation levels varied, with higher engagement observed in familiar, action-based topics, whereas more abstract vocabulary led to lower participation and classroom management challenges. This research confirms that Thematic-Based Learning is a valuable approach for young learners in ESL vocabulary instruction, but additional strategies—such as structured speaking exercises and extended reinforcement activities—are necessary to bridge the gap between memorization and practical application. The findings contribute to the ongoing discussion on effective ESL vocabulary teaching strategies and suggest avenues for future studies to explore more interactive and multimodal approaches to vocabulary acquisition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies used by teachers to increase students’ reading interest in the Indonesian language subject at SDN 73/IX Simpang Sungai Duren. The background of this research is the low reading interest among students, which negatively affects their comprehension and academic performance, particularly in Indonesian language learning. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of literacy-related activities. The results showed that teachers implemented several strategies to foster reading interest, including story-based learning, the use of visual and digital media, creative reading assignments, and a routine of reading before starting lessons. These strategies were proven to gradually increase students’ enthusiasm for reading and encouraged more active participation in learning. Supporting factors in the implementation of these strategies included the availability of engaging reading materials and support from the school administration. However, several inhibiting factors were also identified, such as the lack of adequate library facilities and students’ initially low reading motivation. This study concludes that the teacher's role is crucial in developing a reading culture at the elementary level. Therefore, it is recommended that schools provide ongoing professional development for teachers in literacy instruction strategies, and enhance literacy-supporting facilities to ensure the sustainable growth of students’ reading interest.

Abstract

One of the pedagogical approaches that supports the achievement of educational goals is Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP). In science and social studies subjects, the application of SSP is particularly important because both subjects are closely related to everyday life. This study aims to analyze in depth how Subject Specific Pedagogy is implemented in science and social studies learning at SD Negeri 156/VI Durian Betakuk. This research employs a qualitative descriptive strategy, a method used by researchers to discover data or theories related to the study within a specific period. Based on interviews with the principal and teachers at SDN 156/VI Durian Betakuk, it can be concluded that the implementation of SSP in the learning of IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies) within the Merdeka Curriculum still faces various challenges, but also presents opportunities for improving the quality of education. The main challenges lie in the lack of comprehensive understanding of SSP among teachers, limited availability of teaching modules that are relevant to local contexts, and the unfamiliarity of teachers in independently developing and adapting teaching materials. However, based on the results of the research conducted at SD Negeri 156/VI Durian Betakuk, it can be concluded that the implementation of SSP in IPAS learning within the Merdeka Curriculum has been fairly effective and has had a positive impact on the learning process.Teachers have demonstrated a good understanding of the SSP concept and are able to adapt learning strategies to the characteristics of students and their surrounding environment. Teaching materials are delivered contextually, connected to students' real-life experiences, making them easier to understand and increasing students' learning motivation.
