Abstract

The Nepalese stock market is characterized by emerging market dynamics and notable volatility. It is influenced by factors such as regulatory developments, economic conditions, and investor sentiment, shaping its growth trajectory and investor behavior. This study examines the influence of psychological factors on investment decisions within the Nepalese share market, emphasizing the mediating role of financial literacy. To achieve the stated objective, data were collected from the primary source using a structured questionnaire administered through random sampling technique. The respondents comprised 410 individual investors inside the Kathmandu Valley. The SmartPLS 4.0 was used to analyze the structural relationships within the proposed theoretical model. The findings of this study validated the set hypotheses that psychological factors have positive and significant effect on investment decisions among the investors in Nepalese share market. In the context of Nepal, where the share market is characterized by volatility and emerging market dynamics, these psychological biases often lead to suboptimal investment choices. Findings indicate that investors with higher financial literacy levels are better equipped to mitigate the adverse effects of psychological biases, leading to more rational and informed investment decisions. The study highlights the critical need for enhanced financial education programs to empower investors and improve overall market efficiency. By understanding the interplay between psychological factors and financial literacy, policymakers and financial institutions can develop targeted strategies to foster a more stable and resilient investment environment in Nepal.

Abstract

Rice is a vital crop for ASEAN countries, serving as a primary source of food security and playing a significant role in the regional economy. To draw lessons for rice supply and demand in Cambodia, this article will examine and briefly describe the rice markets in different ASEAN nations, including import and export, rice milling technology, government policy, obstacles, and opportunists. In Cambodia, a program utilizing the sustainable rice cluster (SRC) approach has been developed and put into action by the government in order to maintain the rise of rice production. Compared to traditional approaches, SRC has enhanced rice cultivation by about 40%. The key lessons Cambodia can learn are boosting domestic production, diversifying rice varieties, improving storage and distribution, practicing climate-smart practices, strengthening regional cooperation, improving market access, and farmer empowerment. By analyzing rice demand and supply dynamics in ASEAN and applying the lessons learned, Cambodia can strive to achieve self-sufficiency in rice production and reduce reliance on imports, increase the profitability and competitiveness of the rice sector, enhance food security for its population, and contribute to regional food security within ASEAN.

Abstract

Nigeria’s case is ironic, with so much wealth both human and material yet inequality in income and poverty is evident. Therefore, this study focuses on the asymmetric relationship between income inequality and economic growth in Nigeria (1986-2022) with the intension of understanding whether growth reduces or increases income inequality. The study explored the Non-linear Autoregressive Distributed lag (NARD) model approach with the intent of enabling both the short run and long run asymmetric effect. The findings indicated that, asymmetry is only obvious in the long run and that the early stage of growth does not reduce income inequality. However, in the long run evidence of growth reducing income inequality abounds if the growth reaches 5.5% as indicated by the outcome of Kuznets turning point. Based on these findings the study recommends that; poverty alleviation programmes should be targeted at the real poor and such programmes should last enough to make real impact. Public institutions saddled with the responsibility of equipping the youths with skills should be well funded and giving the freedom they deserve to function effectively. Access to quality higher education should be widen and affordable, because when people are educated at this level there are better chances for economic mobility.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of Destination Management Organization (DMO) on the development of Sugihen Tourism Village, by examining how coordination and strategies implemented by DMO can improve economic growth, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability in the tourism village. The study used a mixed methods approach, which integrates quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data were obtained through a survey of 120 respondents, which were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests and descriptive analysis to measure the relationship between the perception of the role of DMO (independent variable) and the level of tourism village development (dependent variable). The results showed that an effective DMO role is key to optimizing tourism village development. Solid coordination, integrated marketing strategies, and active community participation are important elements that support improving the quality and competitiveness of tourism villages, while maintaining cultural and environmental sustainability. These findings are also supported by qualitative data that reveal the role of DMO in strengthening coordination between stakeholders and increasing active community participation in strategic decision making. Thus, this study confirms that the implementation of an effective, participatory, and integrated destination management model is the main key to achieving sustainable tourism village development and improving the welfare of local communities.
