Abstract

Optimal port performance can only be achieved through the support of facilities, human resources, and service systems that meet the needs of port service. The Ambarita Ferry Port is a strategic transportation hub in Samosir Regency that serves the Ambarita–Ajibata route, which has experienced significant growth in recent years. During the 2020–2024 period, the number of passengers increased by 117.61% and vehicles by 73.36%. However, this growth has not been matched by adequate service facilities, such as limited waiting areas, inadequate safety facilities, limited access to information, and the absence of a port zoning system. In this research, an in-depth analysis is carried out to understand the effectiveness of the service and develop strategies to enhance the performance of the port. The results of the performance evaluation indicate that there is still a gap between The importance and performance of the service. An assessment using The Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method is used to assess the relative importance of factors in a given context indicates that the overall service performance conformity level is 59.33%, falling into the moderate category, with some service indicators in quadrants I to IV. Recommendations for improvement include the provision of protective facilities (signage), service information (maps/facility locations, fares, and onward transportation), and the reorganization of parking areas and terminals. The five-year demand projection (2025–2029) is estimated to reach 1,070,144 passengers and 213,532 mixed vehicles.

Abstract

Passenger productivity at the port plays a crucial role in supporting the sustainability of port operations. Predicting the number of passengers at the port can be used as a reference for preparing port service readiness. The Kuala Tungkal Ferry Port, on the Kuala Tungkal – Telaga Punggur route, connects Jambi Province with the Riau Islands Province. The purpose of this study is to predict the number of passengers on Eid transportation in 2026. The historical data used is data from 14 days before Eid al-Fitr until 7 days of Eid al-Fitr from 2020 to 2025. The analysis method used is the FORECAS.ETS method, the application of which is carried out in Excel. After conducting the analysis, the prediction was that the highest number of passengers would be seven days after Eid al-Fitr, with 882 people. This prediction was used as a reference for evaluating the port's service readiness. The evaluation, based on Ministerial Decree No. 52 of 2004, determined that the existing waiting area was inadequate to accommodate the number of passengers expected for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Abstract

The Baai Island Ferry Port serves a pioneer route from Baai Kahyuapu Island, a distance of 106 miles, with a travel time of approximately 13 hours using the KMP Pulo Tello. Observations indicate non-compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during loading and unloading of goods and passengers, potentially leading to the risk of work accidents. This study used theHIRARCto identify, assess, and analyze work risks referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Number PER.08/MEN/VII/2010 concerning Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The results of the study revealed various potential hazards, such as slipping, being hit by a vehicle, falling into the sea, transportation accidents, and exposure to hazardous materials (fuel and toxic vapors). The SOP is expected to be a guideline for all parties involved in port operations to minimize risks and improve work safety, especially in the loading and unloading of passengers and goods at KMP Pulo Tello.

Abstract

Rawa Pening Lake is a lake located in Semarang Regency, Central Java. With an area of about 2,670 hectares, it occupies the area of Ambarawa, Bawen, Tuntang and Banyubiru Districts. This study discusses safety equipment based on the Regulation of the Director General of Land Transportation Number: KP.3424/AP.402/DRJD/2020. The purpose of this study is to determine the suitability and availability of safety equipment on ships operating at Bukit Cinta Pier using qualitative methods. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, the condition of the safety equipment on motorboats operating at the Bukit Cinta Pier is not in accordance with existing regulations. This is because there are still ships that have not equipped safety equipment on their ships and there are safety equipment that are not suitable and not in accordance with the number they should be. So it is necessary to add safety equipment to every ship operating at the Bukit Cinta Pier to comply with applicable regulations.

Abstract

The Nusa Penida Port is the only port on Nusa Penida Island that serves Ro-Ro vessels operating on the route to Padang Bai Port, Bali. Currently, the ticketing system is supported through an E-Ticketing platform via the Bali Santi website; however, ticket purchases are still predominantly carried out at the counter. This study aims to analyze passenger readiness for the implementation of E-Ticketing at Nusa Penida Port. The research method employs a descriptive quantitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, documentation, and passenger questionnaires. The findings indicate that although the E-Ticketing system is available, its utilization has not been optimal, as passengers continue to rely on manual services. Passenger readiness reached 69%, indicating a fairly good level of preparedness to support E-Ticketing implementation in accordance with the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 19 of 2020. These findings emphasize the need for enhancing supporting facilities to ensure that E-Ticketing implementation can run effectively and provide convenience for port users.

Abstract

The KM. Pusri Indonesia is a bulk carrier owned by PT. Pupuk Indonesia Logistik, specifically designed to distribute fertilizer from producers to various locations throughout Indonesia. Based on the survey results, this study aims to identify factors causing performance decline and implement optimization measures for the compressor. Air compressors play a vital role in providing pressurized air to various ship machinery systems, so decreased performance can hamper operations. The results of this study indicate that the air cylinder filling time increased from the standard specification of 2.4 to 5 minutes to 7.4 to 10 minutes. The main contributing factors are piston ring wear, scale buildup on the low and high pressure valves, and leaks in the cooling pipes. To address this issue, optimization steps that can be taken include replacing worn piston rings, cleaning scale on the valves, and welding leaking cooling pipes. After corrective action, the filling time returned to the normal range of 2.8 to 4.9 minutes. This study emphasizes the importance of compressor maintenance in accordance with the manual and recording maintenance results for evaluation purposes.
