Abstract

The enactment of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) marks a fundamental transformation in Indonesia’s penal system, one of which is the introduction of community service as an alternative to short-term imprisonment. This community service activity aims to provide an understanding to students of SMK Muhammadiyah 02 South Tangerang City regarding the substance of the new KUHP, particularly related to community service penalties, as well as to analyze the readiness of law enforcement officials in implementing it. The method used is interactive socialization through lectures, discussions, and case simulations. The results of the activity indicate that participants’ understanding of community service penalties increased significantly, from 35% to 82% based on pre-test and post-test evaluations. On the other hand, the analysis of law enforcement readiness shows that although the regulatory framework is already in place, there are still challenges such as limited infrastructure, the need for cross-sectoral coordination, and the transformation of legal culture in society. This article concludes that the successful implementation of community service penalties requires synergy between regulatory readiness, institutional capacity, and social acceptance.

Abstract

Google Maps has proven to be an effective digital solution for the initial verification of Land and Building Tax (PBB) data at the Surabaya City Revenue Agency (Bapenda), replacing costly and time-consuming physical survey methods. Out of a total of 413 objects examined, significant discrepancies were found between administrative data (IMB) and actual field conditions. Although the majority (87.65%) of objects matched their recorded existence, 183 objects (44.31%) had building areas that did not correspond with the IMB, with differences of ? 50 m². These findings also include objects that could not be located (11.14%) or were inaccessible (1.21%). Overall, Google Maps successfully accelerated the data screening process and helped officers focus on problematic objects, highlighting the urgency of updating data to ensure more accurate and fair PBB assessments, while also reducing potential regional revenue losses.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PKM) activity entitled “Legal Education on the Dangers of Hoax Dissemination and Its Economic Impact on MSMEs” aims to enhance public understanding and legal awareness, particularly among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in using social media wisely and responsibly by addressing the main issue of low digital literacy and limited understanding of the legal consequences of spreading hoaxes, which can result in social and economic losses, including decreased consumer trust in MSMEs. The program was implemented through stages of data collection, training, mentoring, and evaluation, with educational materials focusing on the understanding of hoaxes, their forms of dissemination, legal implications, and the economic losses they may cause, while mentoring ensured participants could apply this knowledge in their daily lives. The results indicate an improvement in public awareness of the dangers of hoaxes, increased ability to verify information, and stronger legal awareness in the use of social media, as well as the development of critical and responsible attitudes in sharing information; despite challenges related to varying levels of participant understanding, the program overall had a positive impact on enhancing digital literacy, legal awareness, and the sustainability of MSME businesses.

Abstract

Drug abuse in rural areas requires prevention strategies that emphasize not only enforcement measures but also strengthening the capacity of village governments and community participation. This community service program aims to improve the understanding of village officials and residents regarding the dangers of drugs, build collaboration with the Pelalawan Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK Pelalawan), and encourage the strengthening of village institutions through community-based prevention programs. The implementation methods include field observations, coordination with partners, outreach/socialization, assistance, monitoring and evaluation, and the preparation of activity outputs as outlined in the proposal and reported in the implementation progress. The results of the program indicate an increase in participants’ understanding of types of drugs, the impacts of drug abuse, early detection, and reporting mechanisms, along with strengthened cooperation networks between the village government and BNNK Pelalawan. The program also produced outputs in the form of community service articles, educational media such as leaflets, posters, handouts, videos, and media publications as a means of disseminating results. The main impact of this activity is the growth of collective awareness within the village community and the increased institutional readiness of village governments in developing sustainable drug prevention programs.

Abstract

This activity aims to optimize practicum-based science learning through the utilization of Science Kits (KIT IPA) at State Junior High School 8 Makassar. The problem faced by science teachers at the school was their limited experience in using Science Kits optimally, particularly the Optics Kit and the Electricity and Magnetism Kit, resulting in less effective practicum implementation. The training was conducted through a workshop approach consisting of kit usage demonstrations, hands-on practice, and assistance in developing experiment-based student worksheets (LKPD). The results of the activity showed an improvement in teachers’ understanding of the functions and procedures for using Science Kits, as well as an increase in science teachers’ ability to design practicum activities aligned with learning outcomes. In addition, participants applied the simple practicum modules developed during the training to be implemented in classroom learning. This activity contributed to improving the quality of science learning at State Junior High School 8 Makassar and strengthening teachers’ competencies in conducting active, contextual, and inquiry-based learning.

Abstract

Kacang Jaruk is a traditional fermented food from Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah, South Kalimantan, possessing high cultural value but limited market performance due to weak branding, packaging, and digital marketing. This community service aimed to empower Kacang Jaruk Udi Barabai MSME through the “3 Pillars of Growth: Product-Story-Digital” Model. Using Participatory Action Research with a Pentahelix approach from March–June 2026, interventions included: 1) Local product education through GMP SOP development and PIRT legalization; 2) Storytelling via new packaging, QR Codes, and the “Satu Rasa Seribu Cerita” content series; 3) Digital collaboration with micro-influencers, resellers, and marketplace onboarding. Results showed production capacity increased from 15 kg to 40 kg/week, selling price rose by 46.7%, revenue grew 85% with 62% from online channels, and local employment was created. This model proves that integrating cultural values, brand narrative, and digital technology can elevate traditional food MSMEs from survival to growth. The approach is replicable for other culture-based local MSMEs.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the important role of PKK women in various community forums, such as neighborhood meetings, posyandu activities, counseling sessions, village meetings, and ceremonial events. In this context, the ability to prepare speech texts and speak in public is an essential skill so that messages can be delivered clearly, systematically, politely, and convincingly. However, some participants still experienced difficulties in organizing speech structures, choosing communicative language, managing nervousness, controlling their voice, and building interaction with the audience. This activity aimed to improve the understanding and skills of PKK women in Banjarsari Village, Banyuwangi, in preparing speech texts and delivering them in a structured, clear, and confident manner. The activity was conducted on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Banjarsari Village, Banyuwangi, involving 25 participants. The implementation method used a participatory-educative approach through interactive lectures, discussions, speech text writing practice, speech simulations, direct feedback, and reflection. The results showed that participants experienced an improvement in understanding the structure of speech texts, especially in distinguishing the opening, body, and closing sections. Participants also became more capable of selecting themes relevant to PKK activities, using more communicative language, and delivering speeches with better articulation, tempo, intonation, eye contact, and gestures. In addition, participants’ responses to the activity indicated a high level of acceptance because the materials were considered relevant, easy to understand, and beneficial for their social roles. Therefore, assistance in speech text preparation and public speaking practice proved effective as a strategy for empowering public communication skills among PKK women and has the potential to be replicated in other women’s communities.
