Abstract

This study aims to describe the evaluation of PKH in Krembangan Utara Village, Surabaya City. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Research subjects were determined using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The research focus employed William N. Dunn’s public policy evaluation theory, consisting of effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and accuracy. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that PKH in Krembangan Utara Village still faces several obstacles in its implementation. In terms of effectiveness, the objectives of PKH have generally been achieved, although the benefits have not been fully felt by all beneficiary families. In terms of efficiency, facilitators still face task limitations and insufficient operational funds. The adequacy indicator has not shown optimal results because assistance remains limited in meeting all the basic needs of beneficiary families. Equity has also not been implemented properly, as there are still beneficiaries who do not match the criteria stipulated in the regulations. Responsiveness is considered very good due to the existence of complaint mechanisms and direct assistance. In terms of accuracy, PKH has not fully addressed the problems faced by poor families because the program benefits have not been fully experienced by all beneficiary families.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the rationality of debt as a survival strategy for female online drivers in Sidoarjo. This phenomenon arises due to vulnerable socioeconomic conditions, characterized by uncertain income, high household needs, and limited access to formal employment. This leads women to choose to work as online drivers. However, their income is insufficient to meet their needs, ultimately leading to debt as a strategy. The research method used was qualitative, using Max Weber's interpretive phenomenological approach, Verstehen, supported by Michael Agar's ethnographic analysis through thematic coding. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation and in-depth interviews with 10 informants using snowball sampling. The results of the study indicate that the socioeconomic conditions of female online drivers are unstable, thus encouraging the emergence of various social action motives, such as fulfilling consumptive, productive, and lifestyle needs. Debt was chosen as a rational strategy because it is considered a quick solution to deal with economic pressures. The practice of debt is carried out through various sources, both formal, semi-formal, and informal, even developing into a "dig a hole to cover a hole" pattern as a short-term strategy. From the perspective of Max Weber's theory of rationality, the act of debt reflects the dominance of practical rationality and instrumental actions, although in practice it is also influenced by emotional factors, values, and social customs. Debt is interpreted as a tool to maintain family survival, but also has the potential to cause economic and psychological stress.

Abstract

Gross motor development is an important aspect of early childhood growth that needs to be stimulated through physical activities appropriate to children’s developmental stages. Gymnastics activities are considered an effective form of stimulation because they can improve body coordination, balance, agility, and muscle strength in children. This study aims to describe teachers’ understanding of gross motor development in early childhood, the implementation of gymnastics activities, children’s responses, as well as the obstacles and strategies used by teachers in stimulating children’s gross motor skills. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research was conducted at RA Amanah Ummah Wonosari Klaten with 15 children and classroom teachers as the research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results showed that gymnastics activities were able to improve children’s gross motor skills, such as walking, jumping, maintaining balance, and coordinating body movements. Children appeared enthusiastic and active during the activities. Teachers applied several strategies, including rhythmic gymnastics, movement and songs, and direct movement demonstrations. However, the implementation still faced obstacles such as limited time, space, and differences in children’s motor abilities

Abstract

At the Athya IV Housing Complex on Jl. Kayu Putih, Simpang Baru, Tampan, Pekanbaru, this study investigated the use of TikTok as a non-formal learning space in the process of developing business ideas for housewives. This study employed a qualitative methodology utilizing in-depth interviews. Informants were purposively selected from housewives who actively use social media, especially TikTok, to seek inspiration and knowledge about productive activities. The results showed that social media, especially TikTok, has become an effective learning resource in encouraging creativity and economic independence for housewives. Housewives can acquire new skills such as making culinary products, understanding how to sell online, and developing business ideas based on household skills by watching short video content. However, several problems exist, including time constraints, difficulty verifying the accuracy of information, and a lack of systematic follow-up content. TikTok can be a good non-formal learning platform for housewives if they have sufficient digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concepts and characteristics of Islamic short-term boarding programs (pesantren kilat) and overnight spiritual programs (mabit) within the Gema Ramadhan activities in mosques, examine their implementation from an Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) perspective, and compare their implications for the development of students’ religious character. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field research design and a comparative study method, conducted at Al Ittihad Mosque in Sanggung Village and TPQ Ar-Ridha in Wunut Village. The research subjects were selected using purposive sampling, including program organizers and facilitators. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that pesantren kilat emphasizes cognitive development through structured learning, while mabit focuses on strengthening spiritual aspects through direct worship experiences. From a fiqh perspective, both activities are permissible as forms of mosque prosperity (i‘mar al-masjid), provided they maintain proper etiquette, cleanliness, order, and do not interfere with the mosque’s primary function as a place of worship. Mabit demonstrates a higher level of conformity with the mosque’s function due to its dominance of ritual worship (ibadah mahdhah), whereas pesantren kilat falls under non-ritual worship (ibadah ghairu mahdhah) with conditional permissibility. Comparatively, both are complementary in fostering religious character by integrating cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions in a balanced manner.

Abstract

Development sociology is a branch of sociology that specifically examines the processes of social, economic, and cultural change in the context of community development. This article traces the chronological history of development sociology, from its emergence after World War II to its dynamics in the contemporary era. Through a historical approach and theoretical analysis, this study identifies critical phases in the development of development sociology, including the emergence of modernization theory in the 1950s and 1960s, the critique of dependency theory in the 1970s, and the emergence of the sustainable development paradigm at the end of the 20th century. The results of this study indicate that effective development sociology focuses not only on economic growth but also includes dimensions of social justice, community participation, and environmental sustainability. By understanding its historical trajectory, development sociology can become a relevant analytical instrument in responding to global and local development challenges in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the utilization of Educational Play Tools (APE) in the role-play center in supporting the development of social interaction and self-expression in early childhood at TK-FG Lab FKIP UNRI. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with center teachers. The results show that the APE used in the role-play center, such as profession props, kitchen utensils, and planting media, are able to encourage children to interact actively, develop both verbal and nonverbal communication, and express their emotions and imagination within meaningful thematic contexts. The class rotation system implemented every two days also contributes to broadening children's social experiences across different groups. This study confirms that the role-play center supported by theme-appropriate APE serves as an effective learning space for the development of social interaction and self-expression in early childhood.

Abstract

This article discusses development theory in sociology, encompassing paradigms, modernization, dependency, and world systems. The background to this research is based on a long-standing debate in development studies, demonstrating that socioeconomic change cannot be understood through a single approach. Modernization theory emphasizes internal factors as the cause of underdevelopment and the solution to development, dependency theory critiques the external domination of developed countries over developing nations, while world systems theory views development as part of the interconnected dynamics of the global capitalist system. The purpose of this research is to analyze the basic concepts of each development theory in sociology and understand their implications for social change in society. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach through the review of various relevant sources. The results of the study indicate that development paradigms significantly influence perspectives on the causes, processes, and direction of social change. Modernization, dependency, and world systems theories each provide different but complementary explanations for understanding the dynamics of development in developing countries. Through this conceptual review, it can be concluded that development cannot be separated from internal and external relations and must be understood within a broader global framework. This article is expected to serve as a conceptual reference for academics and practitioners in understanding development theory in sociology more comprehensively.
