Abstract

Drug abuse remains a significant social problem that affects various aspects of an individual’s life, including physical health, psychological well-being, and social functioning. The rehabilitation process is not only aimed at stopping substance use but also at restoring an individual’s ability to perform social roles and functions effectively. This article aims to describe the assistance process provided to a client with a history of drug abuse through a social case work approach at Yayasan Kiki Alam Jaya, Medan. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and assessment instruments, including the Biopsychosocial-Spiritual Assessment (BPSS), the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment (URICA), and the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL). The assessment results indicated that the client experienced difficulties in emotional regulation, low family trust due to a history of relapse, and exposure to a social environment that increased the risk of recurring drug use. Based on the assessment findings and SWOT analysis, the interventions implemented included individual counseling using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, emotional control training and drug-related psychoeducation, family dialogue, and post-rehabilitation planning. The assistance process was carried out through the stages of social case work, namely the study phase, assessment phase, intervention phase, and termination phase. The results demonstrated improvements in the client’s awareness of emotional management, understanding of the consequences of drug abuse, and motivation to maintain recovery while rebuilding relationships with family members.

Abstract

Learning and instruction are two main concepts in the field of education that are interconnected yet have different characteristics. This article aims to analyze the influence of behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism theories on instructional design, explain the difference between learning as an individual activity and instruction as a social interaction from the perspective of Islamic education, and examine the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in the effectiveness of project-based learning. This study uses a library research approach by analyzing various relevant scientific sources. The study results show that behaviorism emphasizes changes in behavior through stimulus and response, cognitivism focuses on mental processes in learning, while constructivism places learners as active subjects in constructing knowledge. In Islamic education, learning is seen as an individual activity that has the value of worship, whereas teaching is a social process that is filled with the values of exemplary conduct and educational interaction. In addition, intrinsic motivation has been proven to be more dominant in enhancing the effectiveness of project-based learning compared to extrinsic motivation. Therefore, the integration of modern learning theories with the values of Islamic education becomes important to create learning that is meaningful, humanistic, and relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study examines the predicted impact of the land bridge infrastructure development in Thailand on political security of regional organizations and the Southeast Asian region, highlighting the presence of numerous foreign investors in this project, which has the potential to reshape the power dynamics in Southeast Asia, while considering the implications of the dominance of each foreign-investing country, each with its own national interests. The land bridge could give rise to new challenges for ASEAN’s political security, particularly in upholding the long-cherished principle of centrality aimed at maintaining regional stability. It could also create a new arena for power struggles and intensify rivalry between the United States and China, both of which have expressed investment interest in the project. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a scenario framework to systematically examine possibilities. The findings indicate that the land bridge could weaken ASEAN’s position, this research clarifies that the presence of foreign dominance through investment not only weakens ASEAN but also creates ASEAN’s dependence on various sectors depending on which investor nations succeed in dominating them.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financing procedures implemented at PT Woori Finance Indonesia Sidoarjo Branch and to examine their relationship with civil law aspects, particularly in terms of contractual agreements, prudential principles, and the resolution of non-performing financing. This research applies an empirical juridical method with a descriptive-analytical approach, combining field observations conducted during the internship program with a review of relevant legal regulations and literature. The findings indicate that the financing procedures are carried out through several structured stages, including application submission, data verification, creditworthiness analysis, approval, and fund disbursement. In practice, the company applies the prudential principle through the 5C analysis (character, capacity, capital, collateral, and condition) to minimize potential risks. From a legal perspective, each financing activity establishes a binding legal relationship between the creditor and the debtor, as regulated under civil law provisions. In cases of default, the resolution mechanism is conducted in stages, starting with persuasive and non-litigation approaches before proceeding to further legal actions if necessary. Therefore, financing procedures not only represent administrative processes but also involve significant legal implications that require careful implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of two work culture models that have emerged in contemporary organizational dynamics: high work intensity (HWI) and work-life balance (WLB), from the perspective of Human Resource Management (HRM). Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study analyzed 18 scientific sources indexed in SINTA and Scopus published between 2019 and 2025. The findings indicate that while HWI can drive significant short-term productivity, this model is prone to causing burnout, declining mental health, and high employee turnover rates in the long term. Conversely, WLB has proven more effective in fostering loyalty, creativity, and sustainable HR performance. Furthermore, this article highlights the perspective of humanistic values in HRM, which positions employees not merely as factors of production but as dignified individuals who must be protected. A review of the maqashid al-sharia, particularly the principle of hifzun nafs (preserving life and health), reinforces the argument that work models that disregard employee well-being contradict the fundamental values of civilized human resource management. This study concludes that the ideal model is not a choice between two opposing poles, but rather a synthesis in the form of a strong work ethic that remains grounded in human values.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of nasikh wa mansukh between the Qur’an and Hadith with a focus on epistemological problems in the formulation of Islamic law. The debate regarding the possibility of Hadith abrogating the Qur’an reflects differences among scholars concerning textual authority, transmission validity, and methods of interpreting revelation. Some scholars accept the concept under the condition that the Hadith is mutawatir, while others reject it because the Qur’an is considered the highest source of Islamic law. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected from literature on Qur’anic studies, ushul fiqh, Hadith, and contemporary Islamic thought. The analysis applies descriptive-analytical, intertextual, and Islamic epistemological approaches. The findings show that the relationship between the Qur’an and Hadith in the concept of abrogation is influenced by differing epistemological paradigms. Scholars who accept abrogation emphasize the unity of revelation, while those who reject it emphasize differences in textual authority and validity. The study also finds that many claims of abrogation can be understood through textual harmonization, contextual legal interpretation, and maqashid al-shariah approaches without literal annulment of legal rulings. Therefore, the concept of nasikh wa mansukh should be understood contextually and integratively to remain relevant in contemporary Islamic legal methodology.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the persistence of students' non-compliance with Islamic dress regulations at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Natal, including excessive use of lipstick, improper wearing of the hijab, failure to wear an underscarf resulting in visible hair, and untidy appearance among male students. These conditions indicate that students' compliance with dress regulations is not yet fully based on personal awareness but is still influenced by teacher supervision. This study aims to describe the forms of students' non-compliance with Islamic dress codes, analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering compliance with Islamic dress regulations, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the guidance process. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving PAI teachers, the principal, homeroom teachers, and students. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that PAI teachers play roles as educators, role models, mentors, supervisors, and motivators in fostering students' compliance with Islamic dress codes. The guidance was carried out through religious instruction, advice, habituation, supervision, and collaboration with parents and school authorities. Supporting factors included school regulations, a religious school environment, institutional support, and parental involvement. Inhibiting factors included low student awareness, peer influence, fashion trends, social media exposure, and limited family supervision. Continuous guidance contributes to the development of students' awareness to dress in accordance with Islamic values.

Abstract

This study aims to identify, describe, and dismantle in depth the utilization of rhetorical elements namely ethos (credibility), pathos (emotional appeal), and logos (logical reasoning) applied by Ustadz Hanan Attaki in his lecture on the importance of remembering death. The methodological foundation relies on a qualitative approach using qualitative content analysis to interpret the meanings, symbols, and rhetorical weight contained within the lecture text. Data collection was carried out through library research by reviewing relevant scientific literature and compiling a verbatim transcript from the video "Mengingat Kematian (Sharing Ramadhan)" on a digital platform as the primary source. Data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to ensure objective and theoretically grounded findings. The results of the analysis demonstrate that Ustadz Hanan Attaki harmoniously and effectively integrates the three rhetorical pillars to construct a highly persuasive da'wah message for the younger generation. Ethos is established through practical wisdom (phronesis) by textually mastering religious proofs, moral virtue (arete) using inclusive and egalitarian language, and goodwill (eunoia) through deep empathy toward human negligence. Pathos is strategically managed by flipping the scary stereotype of death into a gentle medium for softening the heart, utilizing calculated fear appeals regarding sudden mortality, and presenting beautiful emotional comfort about the peaceful nature of the barzakh realm. Logos is systematically reconstructed using deductive reasoning based on sacred texts, clear causal relationships regarding the function of remembering death, categorical syllogisms on the urgency of immediate repentance, and inductive empirical proof from global events. This comprehensive rhetorical synergy successfully transforms a heavy, eschatological topic into an accessible, logical, and deeply touching spiritual reflection that motivates immediate behavioral reform.

Abstract

Civil registration is a basic service that must be accessible to all citizens, including people with disabilities, who often face barriers in obtaining an Electronic Identity Card (KTP-el). This study aims to evaluate the implementation of KTP-el registration services for people with disabilities through the Gajah Mada Service innovation organized by the Madiun City Population and Civil Registration Office in Taman District. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using William N. Dunn’s six policy evaluation indicators: effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and accuracy. The results indicate that the service has been functioning fairly well and has provided benefits in improving access to civil registration services for people with disabilities. However, implementation has not yet been fully optimal, as approximately 20% of people with disabilities in Taman Subdistrict have not yet registered for the e-ID. Identified challenges include a service system that remains passive, limited human resources, internet connectivity issues, information disparities, as well as social and cultural barriers within families and the community. Therefore, continuous improvement efforts are needed to make the service more inclusive, equitable, and effective in reaching all people with disabilities.

Abstract

Immanuel Kant’s critical philosophy represents an important turning point in the development of modern philosophy of science, as it offers a middle position between rationalism and empiricism. Rationalism places reason as the primary source of knowledge, while empiricism emphasizes sensory experience as the basis for the formation of knowledge. Through critical philosophy, Kant argues that knowledge does not originate solely from pure reason or experience, but is formed through a synthesis between a priori structures of the mind and empirical data obtained through experience. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach by examining books, scholarly journals, and academic literature relevant to Kant’s thought. The data are analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative method to understand the concept of critical philosophy and its relevance to modern philosophy of science. The findings indicate that Kant’s critical philosophy provides an epistemological foundation for modern science, particularly in terms of rational judgment, verification, critical reflection, and the examination of knowledge claims. Therefore, Kant’s thought contributes to the development of a scientific paradigm that is systematic, objective, critical, and open to the advancement of new knowledge.
