Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify, evaluate, and synthesize relevant literature to reveal the relationship between the Jataka stories and archaeological remains in the area and their implications for the development of culture-based tourism. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review with a qualitative approach. Limitations include the lack of direct field verification to evaluate the extent to which local cultural practices are currently influenced by Buddhist values. The data collection process was carried out through identification of scientific literature from academic databases, screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and thematic analysis of Jataka narratives and symbols relevant to Muara Jambi Temple. The results of the study indicate that a number of narrative elements in the Jataka stories are reflected in the reliefs, structures, and artifacts at Muara Jambi Temple, indicating the important role of Buddhist moral teachings in shaping the cultural identity of the site. This study also found that the use of Jataka story narratives as part of cultural tourism interpretation can increase the appeal and educational value of Muara Jambi Temple. These findings are expected to be the basis for a more meaningful strategy for preserving and developing cultural heritage-based tourism

Abstract

Although many feminist groups and women activists are fighting for women's rights, patriarchal cultural practices are still deeply rooted, especially in Indonesia. This culture views women as inferior beings who must submit to men, resulting in gender discrimination and restrictions on women's roles in various aspects of life. This article discusses the Role of the Young Generation in Shaping Pancasila Character and Morals against Patriarchy Cases in Bugul Lor Village, Pasuruan City. This research focuses on the views of the younger generation with several informants chosen by the researcher, 5 women and 2 men in the age range between 19 to 27 years old, in Bugul Lor Village, Pasuruan. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through observation, documentation, and interviews with young people. The results of this study are the perceptions of the younger generation in Kelurahan Bugul Lor, which show that patriarchy still dominates, with rigid gender roles and unfair division of tasks. Young people realize that patriarchy is an unfair system and has the potential to hinder social progress and women's welfare. To overcome patriarchy, the younger generation needs to change existing social and cultural norms and raise awareness of gender equality. Pancasila can be used as a foundation to build fairer morals and character. This research contributes to the development of science by offering new insights into the challenges of changing patriarchal social structures and recommending more effective strategies to empower women and promote gender equality in society. The practical implications of this research can also serve as a reference for educators and policy makers in formulating programs that support gender equality and the strengthening of Pancasila values among the younger generation

Abstract

Language shows a significant part in social interaction, not only as a means of communication but likewise as a medium to express identity, emotion, and perspective. One of the pragmatic features that reveals how language relates to context is deixis. This research purposes to examine the categories and functions of deixis in the lyrics of “Die With a Smile”, a collaborative song by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research focused on identifying and categorizing deictic expressions based on Levinson’s (1983) and Yule’s (1996) typology: person, spatial, and temporal deixis. The data were collected through documentation and examined through content examination to interpret the contextual implication of each deictic term. The findings revealed a total of 30 deictic expressions in the lyrics, dominated by personal deixis with 22 occurrences (73.33%), mainly through the pronoun “I.” Temporal deixis, such as “tomorrow” and “last night,” added emotional depth, while spatial deixis like “the world” and “wherever” conveyed abstract or symbolic locations. These deixes not only clarified the speaker’s intentions but also strengthened the emotive linking between the vocalist and listener. The study contributes to pragmatic linguistic analysis in music by highlighting how deixis shapes meaning and perspective. However, the study is inadequate to a single song and three types of deixis. Future studies are encouraged to analyze other songs, genres, or types of deixis, as well as explore multimodal elements such as music video visuals to increase a more inclusive thoughtful of meaning construction in popular music

Abstract

This meta-analysis evaluates the effect of audiovisual (AV) medium on improving listening ability of EFL  students, by combining the results of 21 quantitative studies conducted between 2015 and 2025. From a total of 1,987 learners at various levels of education, it was found that AV media had a significant positive impact on listening comprehension, with a Cohen's d effect size of 0.78. The results of the analysis also showed that several moderating variables influenced the level of effectiveness. Younger students tended to benefit more, the use of videos with subtitles gave the best results, and the intervention duration between 4 and 8 weeks had the most significant impact. AV media applied in formal educational contexts showed more effective results than in informal learning. The validity of these findings was strengthened through heterogeneity tests, moderator analysis, and evaluation of possible publication bias. Overall, this study confirms that AV media is an effective learning tool in the modern era, helping to improve EFL listening skills, design better teaching strategies, increase student engagement, and expand access to various sources of language input

Abstract

This study explores local potential-based rural development in Saree Village, Aceh Besar District, Indonesia. Saree holds significant promise as an agrotourism destination rooted in conservation and education. The village is endowed with rich natural assets, including Pocut Meurah Intan Grand Forest Park, Mount Seulawah Agam and Seulawah Inong, and the Saree Elephant Training Center, all of which support the development of sustainable ecotourism. These advantages are complemented by the presence of an Agro Techno Park and an integrated farming system producing key commodities such as avocados, red chilies, and tomatoes. This qualitative descriptive research employed field observations, interviews with local stakeholders, and literature reviews to identify and analyze the village’s local potentials. The Business Model Canvas (BMC) was applied as an analytical framework to map out the integration of local resources into tourism-based economic development.  Economically, over 65% of Saree's population depends on the agricultural sector, supported by training institutions such as Agro Saree Aceh that promote sustainable and technology-based farming. Collaborative efforts among local communities, village-owned enterprises (BUMG), government agencies, and the private sector play a crucial role in shaping Saree as an educational tourism village. The findings indicate that local resources can be effectively transformed into community-based tourism products that generate income, enhance local capacity, and preserve environmental sustainability. Key success factors include digital marketing strategies, human resource development, and infrastructure improvement.
