Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has driven significant transformation in the global work system, particularly through the implementation of Work From Home (WFH), Work From Anywhere (WFA), Work From Office (WFO), and hybrid models. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of non-Open University employees regarding social changes in the work system during the pandemic and their implications for post-pandemic work models. The study used a quantitative approach through a survey of 199 respondents, supported by in-depth interviews. The results of the study show that WFH provides flexibility and increased use of digital technology, but poses obstacles in concentration and work time limits. In contrast, WFO is more effective in coordination and social interaction. The main findings show that the hybrid work model is the dominant choice for adapting to social changes in work. In addition, there is a tendency towards the Work From Anywhere (WFA) system as a form of output-based work flexibility. This research confirms that the transformation of the work system is not only technical, but also reflects changes in work habits and social structures in modern organizations.

Abstract

A conducive learning environment is an important foundation in creating a quality and meaningful learning experience. However, many schools still face challenges in designing learning environments that are adaptive to the diverse needs of students, which ultimately results in low levels of student engagement. This article aims to examine strategic approaches in the management of the learning environment in schools as an effort to improve student engagement and learning quality holistically. This study uses a literature study method or literature review by analyzing various theories and the latest research results regarding learning environment design, educational psychology, and classroom management. The results of the study show that effective management of the learning environment is not only limited to physical aspects (such as classroom layout and facilities), but also includes psychosocial aspects (safe and supportive classroom climate) and digital aspects (use of learning technology). Through an integrated and data-driven approach, schools can create a learning atmosphere that is not only engaging but also effective in improving student learning outcomes. This research is expected to provide insights and recommendations for educators and school managers in developing an optimal learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of humanistic education within the framework of Ki Hajar Dewantara’s Tri Center of Education theory and its implications for instilling moral values (budi pekerti) in elementary schools. Using a qualitative approach with interview, observation, and literature review techniques, this research examines the synergy between school, family, and community environments. The findings indicate that humanistic education, which focuses on the holistic development of individual potential and positive social interaction, is highly effective in shaping students’ character. The integration of moral values such as honesty, responsibility, and empathy is carried out through active learning methods, teacher role modeling, and collaboration with parents and community leaders. Despite facing challenges such as limited resources and a lack of educators’ understanding, solutions can be achieved through professional training and the improvement of school facilities. This study concludes that harmonious collaboration among the three centers of education is the key to creating an educational ecosystem that supports the development of a character-driven and competitive future generation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of honorary teachers, particularly in Indonesia, is currently a hot topic of discussion in various circles. Aspects of welfare, economics, and policy are crucial. This study aims to understand the motives of honorary teachers as a social practice for their survival in the educational arena. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results indicate that honorary teachers exhibit several habitus patterns in their educational endeavors, including interpreting their profession as a calling, satisfying emotional relationships with the school environment, and hoping to build future career opportunities. Efforts to survive in the educational arena include undertaking side jobs to strengthen economic capital, participating in self-development training to enhance cultural capital, and taking on additional roles in schools to strengthen social and symbolic capital. This study demonstrates the importance of a thorough understanding of the existence of honorary teachers in the educational world. A comprehensive understanding of the social reality of honorary teachers can lead to educational policies and strategies that benefit all parties.

Abstract

Children vulnerable to work face multiple barriers to meaningful education due to poverty, marginalization, limited access to schooling, and other forms of social vulnerability. Although previous studies have emphasized the importance of education as a strategy for child protection, most have primarily focused on expanding educational access and school participation, while limited attention has been given to learning processes that empower students. This study aims to synthesize the literature on education for children vulnerable to work and Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy to develop a conceptual framework of emancipatory education relevant to this population. A narrative review approach was employed by analyzing scholarly publications retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The selected literature was screened based on its relevance to children vulnerable to work, Freirean pedagogy, and emancipatory education, and subsequently analyzed through thematic categorization, conceptual synthesis, and critical interpretation. The findings indicate that research on children vulnerable to work has predominantly adopted child protection and educational access perspectives, whereas studies on Freire’s pedagogy emphasize dialogical education, problem-posing education, critical consciousness, praxis, and humanization as the foundations of emancipatory learning. Integrating these two bodies of literature resulted in the Conceptual Model of Emancipatory Education for Children Vulnerable to Work, which positions students’ lived experiences as the starting point of learning, followed by dialogue, the development of critical consciousness, praxis, and humanization to foster student empowerment and social transformation. This model extends the existing literature by integrating the issues of children vulnerable to work and Freirean critical pedagogy into a coherent conceptual framework. The findings provide theoretical, pedagogical, and policy implications for developing more contextual, inclusive, and empowering educational practices for children vulnerable to work.

Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning at the Junior High School level is often trapped in textual mastery of concepts and rarely reaches the social realities experienced directly by students. This study aims to explore the social values of the marginal community in Kampung Tongkol, North Jakarta, and to formulate a model for its implementation as a contextual learning resource through Role Playing Cards (RPC) media in junior high school Social Studies. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three community informants and Social Studies teachers, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model within the framework of social capital and contextual learning. The findings show that the Kampung Tongkol community possesses seven prominent social values: social empathy, solidarity, sympathy, tolerance, a sense of shared fate, simple living, and high adaptability. These seven values function as social capital that sustains residents' survival strategies amid urban economic constraints. These values are relevant for integration into the material on social interaction, diversity, social problems, and economics in grade VII and VIII Social Studies. Implementation is carried out through Role Playing Cards media designed to be simple, flexible, and resource-efficient, thereby bridging Social Studies concepts with students' social experiences while strengthening empathy, care, cooperation, and social awareness. This study contributes to the development of Social Studies learning based on the wisdom of marginal urban communities, which has rarely been used as a formal learning resource.

Abstract

Social media X significantly shapes Generation Z's investment behavior. This study analyzes how gold investment is represented on the platform by reviewing aspects of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), risk perception, and financial literacy. A descriptive qualitative approach through content analysis was applied to various posts and discussions on X. The study findings show that social media X frames gold as a stable investment asset and a long-term store of value. FOMO drives impulsive investment actions among users. Financial literacy serves as a crucial factor in mitigating digital information distortions. Generation Z's investment decisions reflect rational actions influenced by digital social pressure and individual financial understanding.

Abstract

The phenomenon of “quiet quitting” is increasingly being discussed as a form of declining work engagement, particularly among Generation Z, especially in the food and beverage sector, which is characterized by high work demands. This condition is believed to be influenced by various factors, one of which is social pressure arising within the workplace. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of social pressure on quiet quitting among Generation Z within the framework of local work culture in the city of Bogor. This study employs an explanatory quantitative approach using a survey method. The data collection technique used is stratified random sampling, and the data obtained were then analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics software. The results show that social pressure has a positive and significant effect on quiet quitting, with a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05) and a coefficient of determination of 20.6%. It can be concluded that social pressure is one of the factors influencing the tendency toward quiet quitting among Generation Z workers in the food and beverage sector in Bogor City.
