Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of reward and punishment as well as students' interest in Catholic religious education lessons at school. Interest in learning is a feeling of liking and having an interest in something or an activity without being told so. Interest is basically accepting or establishing a relationship between oneself and something outside of oneself. Interest in learning can be measured using indicators of attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. Giving rewards and punishments is used by Catholic Religious Education teachers as reinforcement and stimulus in education. The background of this research is the lack of interest in studying Catholic religious education. This is because religious education tends to be boring and taught using less creative methods. Based on this, researchers conducted research on the implementation of reward and punishment by Catholic Religious Education teachers in increasing students' interest in learning at St. Petrus Elementary School, Medan. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection techniques included interviewing, observing, and interviewing. The informants in this study were Catholic Religious Education teachers, school principals, and students. The findings of this study indicate that the application of reward and punishment can increase students' interest in learning. Giving rewards and punishments can increase students' interest in participating in Catholic religious studies at school. This can be seen from the enthusiasm with which students participate in Catholic Religious Education lessons. So that Catholic religious education lessons are expected to be increasingly in demand in the future.

Abstract

Kepemimpinan adalah hal yang sangat mendasar bagi setiap orang, teramat lebih bagi seorang Kristen, di zaman yang penuh keunikan ini seorang pemimpin Kristen sangat ditentukan kepemimpinannya dalam memahami dan menyikapi perkembangan jaman yang menuntut kemodernan dalam hal tugas dan tanggung jawabnya. Keberhasilan yang menjadi tolak ukur dalam Tanggung jawab seorang pemimpin harus dicermati pada seorang pemimpin yang memahami era dan waktu yang berkembang terus dalam masa kepemimpinannya, khusunya dalam lembaga-lembaga yang bersifat rohani atau pun non rohani. Tanggung jawab yang dihasilkan seorang pemimpin sangat terbukti dari pemahaman akan sikap dan cara pandang yang modernisasi dalam menyikapi perkembangan zaman yang sedang terjadi.

Abstract

A Church teaching that presents more specifically Mary as a model in divine worship is Marialis Cultus. This apostolic letter, promulgated by Pope Paul VI on February 2, 1974, aims to promote the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary especially in divine worship. The Marialis Cultus clearly shows the virtues of the virgin Mary, namely humility which is shown by listening to the Word of God and carrying it out, always praying and expressing her hopes to God. This research uses a literature study approach by collecting various primary and secondary references related to the Marialis cultus document, catechesis on Mary as a model of the Church and analyzing the text and context of the Catholic Church today regarding the implementation of catechesis on Mary. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing from various references used. The findings in this study are that the Church sees that the actual situation carried out by the people is really concerning, for example: The people have not fully opened themselves to God, humility has not been truly realized so that some people have not listened to the word and implemented it, or listened only to the mind not to the heart, praying just praying without effort and perseverance. So that one solution to answer the situation of this kind of people is the catechesis of the people about Mary which is sourced from the Marialis Cultus document.

Abstract

This research examines the significance of Catholic Religious Education teachers' social abilities in influencing students' motivation to learn. The social skills of teachers encompass objective attitudes and behaviors, adaptability to the environment, effective communication skills, as well as empathy and politeness in communication. A qualitative research method was employed, involving data collection through interviews, observations, and analysis conducted at Budi Murni 4 Private Middle School in Medan. The study participants consisted of 10 individuals, including Catholic Religious Education Teachers, Peer Teachers, and students who were selected using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The findings indicate that Catholic Religious Education teachers with good social skills can enhance students' interest in learning. Teachers who exhibit an objective attitude, possess adaptability to the environment, and demonstrate effective communication skills can assist students in the learning process. Therefore, it is crucial for Catholic Religious Education teachers to develop their social skills in order to enhance students' learning motivation. Key words: social competence ,interest to learn

Abstract

Before evangelization by the Catholic Church reached Batak land, the Batak people themselves already had the concept of belief in the supreme being, namely Mulajadi Na Bolon. This belief is known as parmalim. In this concept not only talks about the system of life, but also touches on creation and even life after death. The concept of life after death in traditional Batak religion is very different from the concept of life after death in Catholicism. The purpose of this research is to see the influence of Catholicism on the concept of life after death in Batak culture. This research uses the literature research method. The results show that the Batak ancestor worship ceremony is based on the Batak traditional religion's concept of life after death, that ancestral spirits are able to influence the lives of the living, able to give blessings or curses. The presence of Christianity purified this concept, that the ceremony to the ancestors is a form of respect and compassion for those who have died, which is intended to pray for the salvation of their souls.

Abstract

In vitro fertilization (FIV) is a complex and controversial topic that has attracted attention in various fields of research, including law, biology, and ethics. This article outlines the results of desk research that describes FIV from various perspectives, particularly within the framework of Catholic law, biology, and morals. This article presents an in-depth analysis of FIV from the perspectives of Catholic law, biology, and morals. It also identifies various ethical challenges and questions associated with FIV and proposes solutions that can honor Catholic moral principles while taking into account the legal framework and relevant biological concepts. In the face of these complex debates, a collaborative effort between legal experts, biological scientists, and Catholic theologians may be necessary to seek the best path that best accommodates all these perspectives. Abstract

The Indonesian government's policy of religious moderation is the main subject of this study. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not Catholic educators can implement and restore the religious moderation component included in Catholic education textbooks in classroom settings. There are four primary schools in the Tigabinanga district, three of them are state institutions and one private. As a result, religious moderation—that is, combining the techniques and information needed to create a multicultural knowledge base—has been implemented by Catholic educators. The teaching strategies and resources were adjusted to accommodate all pupils, demonstrating diversity, primitivism, stereotypes, and respect for gender, culture, and religion as well as the topics covered in Catholic Religious Education and ethics. Student reactions to intercultural knowledge-building and content integration procedures show this; 65% of students fall into the "Good" group, which highlights the need for diversity moderation. On the other hand, bias can be lessened by giving students clarity and explanations and by emphasizing honesty, accountability, respect for one another, and acceptance of painful past experiences. 69% of students gave the application of equality pedagogy and the decrease of bias in Catholic religious education a "Good" rating.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan ingin melihat sejauh mana media sosial menjadi sarana pewartaan injil di zaman modern ini. Media sosial sebagai sarana pewarataan injil tentu saja menjadi hal yang baik dalam Gereja Katolik. Hal ini berarti Gereja mengikuti perkembangan zaman dan memanfaatkannya untuk mewartakan kerajaan Allah di tengan dunia dewasa ini. Mewartakan kerajaan Allah di zaman modern ini mesti memanfaatkan kecanggihan media sosial sebagai sarana dalam pewartaan injil yang tidak terhalang oleh jarak dan waktu. Terdapat beberapa jenis media sosial yang dapat digunakan untuk karya pewartaan seperti; blog, Facebook, Youtube, whatsApp, tik-tok, Instagram dan Twiter. media sosial tersebut sangat berperan penting dalam karya pewartaan Injil. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan artikel ini ialah metode kepustakaan. Evangelii nuntiandi sebagai sumber utama dalam penelitian ini. Penulis menyimpulkan media sosial menjadi sarana baru dalam pewartaan Injil dan segala kemudahannya justru menjawab kekhawatiran Gereja terhadap arus deras perkembangan teknologi pada zaman modern karena kehadiran media sosial membawah harapan baru bagi Gereja untuk mempermudah tugas pewartaan Injil di zaman modern ini

Abstract

Anggota jemaat merupakan sebuah bagian yang tidak dapat terpisahkan dari yang namanya masyarakat. Tata cara kehidupan atau kebudayaan anggota jemaat serta cara pandang atau persepsi dari masyarakat tersebut tentunya akan sangat dipengaruhi oleh bagaimana pandangan dari masyarakat tempat warga atau anggota jemaat itu berada. Penelitian ini akan mencoba untuk menggali makna yang ada di dalam tarian Pa’gellu’ dengan menggunakan satu dari beberapa jenis metode atau model teologi kontekstual yang telah dikemukakan oleh Stephen Bevans dalam bukunya, khususnya dalam hal ini penulis akan menggunakan model antropologi. Di dalamnya, penelitian yang dilakukan ini akan melihat bagaimana makna yang terkandung di dalamnya serta relasi antara maknanya bagi masyarakat secara sosial dan kemudian seperti apa pesan kekristenan yang ada di dalam budaya atau tarian Pa’ Gellu’ ini. Model antropologi akan menjadi kunci untuk mendapatkan jawaban untuk melihat apakah dari tarian Pa’gellu’ ini sungguh tidak hanya sebuah budaya, namun juga merupakan sebuah sumber untuk menyatakan nilai-nilai kekristenan atau nilai-nilai Injil dari budaya tarian Pa’gellu’ ini.  Dengan demikian, maka kita dapat melihat bahwa tarian Pa’gellu’ ini bukan hanya semata-mata tarian, akan tetapi juga membentuk keseimbangan yang harmonis antara nilai seni, keagamaan serta budaya

Abstract

Learning is an interaction between educators and students to achieve educational goals. Effective learning can facilitate students so that it can support the achievement of the expected learning objectives. Successful learning must be able to adjust the needs of each student by looking at every important aspect needed, such as the learning media that will be used. Learning media is a tool or means used to convey information in order to achieve learning objectives. This study aims to find out the use of media for learning so that instructional goals are achieved in order to increase student learning competencies. The media made by the teacher must be relevant to the material to be taught so that it can easily assess the extent to which the learning objectives have been achieved. However, it is necessary to know that learning media has every advantage and disadvantage in achieving instructional goals. Through this research, it is hoped that teachers need to pay attention to what students really need in order to achieve instructional goals that maximize behavioral goals.
