Abstract

This study aimed to describe the role of Catholic religious education teachers in increasing the moral values of class IX students at SMP Swasta Katolik 2 Kabanjahe. The problem in this study is that there are still teachers who do not fully understand their role in increasing the moral values of students, so the moral values of students quickly decline due to the times. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach. Research data was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informant determination technique used was snowball sampling. The informants in this study consisted of 1 school principal, 1 Catholic Religious Education teacher, 7 colleagues, and 10 students. The data analysis technique uses technical triangulation: reduction, display, and concluding. The study results show that Catholic religious teachers have carried out their duties as well as possible, namely carrying out their roles as role models, educators, and pastors. Meanwhile, students also have good moral values, namely being religious, honest, responsible, disciplined, and independent. The results of this study can be used in other places if the places have characteristics that are not much different from the ones found in the research that has been done. This research is limited to the role of Catholic religious education teachers and the moral values of students.

Abstract

Current technological developments have both positive and negative impacts. One of the negative impacts of excessive social media is that it can lead to addiction, cyberbullying, and fear of missing out (FOMO). It can even erode one's identity, as widely circulated videos on social media influence it. This research aims to analyze the relationship between FOMO, problematic use of social media, and expressions of Islamic identity. This research used the FoMO scale, social media disorder scale, and Instagram Islamic identity scale as measuring tools. A quantitative approach was employed, using multiple analyses, which revealed that FOMO and problematic use of social media simultaneously contribute to expressing Islamic identity. The subjects of this research were 177 Indonesian millennial Muslims who actively participated in the Instagram migration movement. Problematic use of social media and expression of Islamic identity effectively contributed 40.6% (36.7% from social media use and 3.9% from FOMO). Additionally, questionable social media use had a significant correlation with the articulation of Islamic identity, while FoMO itself did not correlate with it. These results can serve as a basis for future research on the expression of religious identity on social media and the development of interventions to address excessive social media use.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's policy of religious moderation is the main subject of this study. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not Catholic educators can implement and restore the religious moderation component included in Catholic education textbooks in classroom settings. There are four primary schools in the Tigabinanga district, three of them are state institutions and one private. As a result, religious moderation—that is, combining the techniques and information needed to create a multicultural knowledge base—has been implemented by Catholic educators. The teaching strategies and resources were adjusted to accommodate all pupils, demonstrating diversity, primitivism, stereotypes, and respect for gender, culture, and religion as well as the topics covered in Catholic Religious Education and ethics. Student reactions to intercultural knowledge-building and content integration procedures show this; 65% of students fall into the "Good" group, which highlights the need for diversity moderation. On the other hand, bias can be lessened by giving students clarity and explanations and by emphasizing honesty, accountability, respect for one another, and acceptance of painful past experiences. 69% of students gave the application of equality pedagogy and the decrease of bias in Catholic religious education a "Good" rating.

Abstract

This article talks about the truth of God as the foundation of the existence of Judaism. The article aims to reveal the Jewish understanding of the truth of God that underlies the existence and continuity of Christianity. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method through literary analysis. The primary data for the study are texts from the Old Testament related to the truth of God and their connections in various texts of the New Testament. The selected texts are then analyzed using Dilthey's hermeneutic circle and Gadamer's horizon fusion techniques. The results of the analysis show that the understanding of the truth of God in Judaism is centered on God's faithfulness to the covenant, but due to Israel's acute violation, the concept of truth shifted towards God's never-ending love and faithfulness. This understanding has a dimension of continuity in the New Testament and implications for the mission of the Church. This research helps readers gain an in-depth understanding that enriches evangelical theological research, helping to deepen understanding of God's character, nature, and plan in human salvation history. Through in-depth research, the church can also discover continuity between the Old and New Testaments to better understand how God's message and mission.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well marriage counseling employs group dynamics and desensitization techniques to lessen prospective brides' and grooms' anxiety. An ABA design is used in this single-subject study. Four people participated in this study: two prospective brides and two prospective grooms. Descriptive analysis is added to visual analysis, also known as visual inspection, in data analysis. The study's findings demonstrate that systematic desensitization techniques combined with relaxation therapy can effectively lower prospective brides' and grooms' anxiety levels. The outcomes both before and after treatment demonstrate this. Counselors and other caregivers may utilize this method as an alternative to help prospective brides and grooms feel less anxious. Keyword: Anxiety; marriage counseling; systematic desensitization.

Abstract

Teenagers should seek parental assistance because adolescence is a time of transition from childhood to adulthood and is frequently characterized by the emergence of issues. However, for teenagers living in dormitories, things are different. For this reason, self-compassion is crucial when addressing the mental health issues of young people living in dormitories. The purpose of this study is to examine how self-compassion affects the mental health of adolescents who live in dormitories. This study's methodology blends qualitative and quantitative methods, with 43 participants between the ages of 12 and 18. The Kabanjahe Dormitory in the Karo Regency of North Sumatra served as the site of this study. Research data was gathered through the distribution of questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and observational studies. Multiple linear regression is used in quantitative data analysis, while reduction, presentation, and conclusion-making are the processes used in qualitative data analysis. The study's findings indicate that teens living in dorms have a 21.9% better mental health when they practice self-compassion. Other factors such as parental style, environment, degree of self-disclosure, and education impact the remaining 78.1%. Adolescents living in dorms may be susceptible to mental health issues due to various factors, including exposure to pornographic media, a family history of domestic violence, and inadequate parenting.

Abstract

This article is a literature review that examines Paul Ricoeur’s concept of narrative identity and its relevance to education. Ricoeur conceives human identity as a dynamic construction shaped through narrative, namely the reflective interpretation of life experiences within the dimensions of time, social relations, and self-awareness. In this framework, education is not merely understood as a means of knowledge transmission but also as a hermeneutical space where learners construct an understanding of themselves through experience, reflection, and dialogue. Narrative enables students to coherently connect the past, present, and future, while simultaneously cultivating character, responsibility, and empathy. This article highlights the importance of narrative-based learning strategies, such as case studies, autobiographical writing, analysis of literary and historical texts, and project-based learning. Through these approaches, students are encouraged to develop a reflective and ethical identity that is open to diversity. Thus, Ricoeur’s thought provides a strong philosophical foundation for building humanistic character education in which learners are positioned as subjects who grow and transform through their own life stories.
