Abstract

The aim of this research is to provide a comprehensive explanation of Viaticum in the Catholic Church. The explanation of Viaticum given is mainly in historical and juridical aspects. Viaticum is the Holy Eucharist received by people who will leave this mortal world and prepare themselves for the journey to eternal life in heaven. In simple terms, Viaticum is understood as sacred provisions for going to heaven. Here the author uses qualitative research methods with literature and argumentative review techniques to investigate historical and juridical aspects regarding Viaticum. Historical-juridical investigation itself is an approach or method that can be used to conduct scientific studies regarding canon law. The findings in this research are (1) Viaticum has a long and complex history and in that history there were debates and disagreements from the Church Fathers to formulate the correct rules regarding how sacred provisions were given to people who were sick and facing death; (2) canon law establishes clear and strict rules for people who receive and receive viticum, however there are concessions and dispensations in case of urgent and emergency situations; (3) Viaticum inherits the tradition of people's piety which is visible in the custom of visitation, exposition and procession of the Sacrament which is called "ecaristical cult outside the Mass", as an external and public expression of the people's faith in the real presence of the Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament which is kept in the tabernacle.

Abstract

This research departs from the concern over the reality of the implementation of the independent curriculum which is still not optimal, the difficulty of teachers in adjusting to the independent curriculum and inadequate facilities and infrastructure. The variables in this study consist of an independent curriculum, PAK learning and PAK learning implementation strategies based on an independent curriculum. The purpose of this study is to find out about the independent curriculum and PAK learning and the extent of the implementation of PAK learning based on the independent curriculum. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. The sample selection in this study used purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interview and documentation techniques. Data validity testing is done by triangulation, namely data source triangulation and technical triangulation. Based on the research that has been carried out, the research results illustrate that the PAK learning implementation strategy based on the independent curriculum at SMK Negeri 2 Mandrehe Utara has strategies that include simplified lesson plans, provision of teaching tools, and more independent learning for teachers and students, so that learning is more enjoyable and meaningful. The independent curriculum has had a positive impact on SMK Negeri 2 Mandrehe Utara in the learning process, especially in PAK learning.

Abstract

This research aims to show strategies for realizing who participate in the Parish of Sakramen Mahakudus. The pastoral focus of the Archdiocese of Medan (KAM) in 2024 is Participation. Participation is fundamental and essential in building synodality. This paper will describe the strategy carried out by the Parish of Sakramen Mahakudus Kisaran to realize people who participate within the framework of the Church’s five pillars: kerygma, diakonia, koinonia, liturgia, martyria. This research was conducted using qualitative methods with a case study approach. The writer reads, analyzes and formulates writings related to the theme of the writing. The author is also directly involved in the process of identifying problems and formulating strategies for solving problems in accordance with the pastoral focus. The author collaborates with related parties jointly formulate a parish program based on pastoral focus.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berfokus pada hubungan antara tradisi Tariu masyarakat Dayak dan konsep keadilan Tuhan yang diungkapkan dalam Nahum 1:1-8. Melalui kajian ini, ditemukan bahwa Tariu tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ekspresi budaya, tetapi juga mencerminkan nilai-nilai spiritual dan sosial yang berkaitan dengan keadilan dan keseimbangan. Tariu menjadi simbol kehadiran Tuhan dalam konteks budaya Dayak. Tujuan penulisan adalah untuk memperdalam pemahaman tentang bagaimana masyarakat Dayak memandang dan mengadakan keadilan Tuhan. Metodologi yang digunakan mencakup analisis literatur, observasi terhadap kegunaan Tariu, dan interpretasi teks Nahum, dengan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menggali konteks budaya secara mendalam. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang integrasi antara tradisi lokal Masyarakat Dayak dan Kitab Suci Perjanjian Lama, serta relevansinya dalam memahami keadilan Tuhan di era modern

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of religious moderation in maintaining religious harmony in Singkawang. As one of the most tolerant cities in Indonesia, Singkawang has managed to foster an inclusive atmosphere despite its religious diversity. The purpose of this study is to analyze how religious moderation contributes to maintaining religious harmony in Singkawang and its implications for the broader national context. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, focusing on the role of local government, religious leaders, and communities in promoting religious moderation. The results show that the implementation of religious moderation in Singkawang has led to positive outcomes, such as reduced religious intolerance and increased cooperation among religious communities. The study concludes that religious moderation is essential to preserving the city's tolerant status and ensuring harmonious coexistence in a diverse society. The findings suggest that the government, religious leaders, and the public must work together to maintain this harmony by promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding. It is hoped that Singkawang can serve as a national model for religious tolerance in Indonesia.

Abstract

Tulisan ini merupakan upaya penulis untuk menunjukkan realitas ironis di balik pembangunan menurut ideologi kapitalisme dari gagasan Peter L. Berger. Menurut Peter L. Berger, pembangunan manusia yang berlandaskan ideologi kapitalis, menyiratkan dan membutuhkan dua dimensi yang menyayat hati, yang di satu sisi menyelubungi mitos pertumbuhan ekonomi untuk kepentingan pemilik modal, dan di sisi lain ini membutuhkan 'pengorbanan manusia' sebagai penopangnya yang membentuk piramida. Dengan demikian, Berger berpendapat bahwa pembangunan seharusnya hadir untuk menghilangkan penderitaan, bukan sebagai sumber penderitaan bagi rakyat itu sendiri akibat mitos pertumbuhan ekonomi yang dijanjikan dan ideologi subjektif yang tersembunyi dalam kebijakan tujuan pembangunan itu sendiri. Metode yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini adalah metode penelitian pustaka. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan saat ini menunjukkan hal serupa yang membutuhkan manusia sebagai biaya pembangunan. Oleh karena itu, berdasarkan penelitian ini, penulis mengusulkan gagasan etika hubungan masyarakat Peter L. Berger sebagai sebuah konsep yang cukup tangguh dan relevan dalam menangani dan memberantas masalah pembangunan.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the concept of divinity in the Dawan tribe through the Oe Kana ritual. There are two known concepts of divinity, namely Uis Neno and Uis Pala. In addition, the Dawan tribe also has the figure of Bei Nai as an ancestral spirit. These three figures are the main focus of this research. This research uses quantitative analysis of scholarly sources related to the theme of the writing. In this research, Arnold van Gennep's study is applied with three approaches: pre-liminal, liminal, and post-liminal, to understand the Oe Kana ritual. The results show that the Dawan tribe honours Uis Neno and Uis Pala as life givers in their daily lives. Keywords: Oe kana, Uis Neno, Uis Pala, Bei Nai, Arnold van Gennep.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis calls for the integration of religious values and ecological awareness in education. This study explores the implementation of ecopedagogy in Catholic religious education to enhance students' ecological competencies. Using a qualitative case study approach in selected schools, the research investigates how religious education can incorporate environmental values rooted in Catholic teachings. The findings show that ecopedagogy positively influences students' knowledge, attitudes, skills, and participation in environmental conservation. Programs like the Green School initiative have improved students’ ecoliteracy, though further efforts are needed to internalize sustainable behaviors. Integrating religious teachings with ecopedagogical principles enriches students’ spiritual formation and fosters critical environmental awareness. The success of such integration relies on consistent strategies and strong collaboration among teachers, students, and the community. These partnerships enhance the relevance and impact of ecopedagogical learning experiences. The study recommends developing interactive and contextual ecopedagogical programs, increasing stakeholder involvement, and ensuring environmental education is embedded across all school activities. Policy support is also essential to sustain and scale these efforts. Overall, the research highlights that ecopedagogy in religious education is a powerful approach to nurture both spiritual growth and ekologi.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the Catholic Church’s view on the morality of artificial contraception through magisterial teachings and its implications for contemporary family life. Using a qualitative approach and literature study method, this research analyzes official Church documents such as Casti Connubii, Humanae Vitae, Familiaris Consortio, Amoris Laetitia, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, as well as academic literature and international survey reports that illustrate the perspectives of the faithful regarding contraception. Content analysis is conducted through data reduction, presentation of findings, and conclusion drawing to identify theological and pastoral themes related to the morality of contraception. The results reveal a significant discrepancy between the Church’s teachings which consistently reject artificial contraception for separating the unitive and procreative meanings of sexual relations, and the practices of many Catholics who tend to view contraception as a morally acceptable option within contemporary medical, social, and economic contexts. In conclusion, although the Church proposes Natural Family Planning methods as an alternative aligned with natural law, the gap between doctrine and lived reality requires a more dialogical, educational, and compassionate pastoral approach so that Church teaching remains relevant and meaningful in the lives of Catholic families today.
