Abstract

During pregnancy, a mother will experience various changes, both anatomical and physiological. Pregnancy exercise is one of the activities in pregnancy services or prenatal care that aims to prepare and train muscles so that they can be used optimally in normal delivery. Knowledge and attitude are factors in the formation of behavior. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women with the implementation of pregnancy exercise. This type of research is quantitative analytic using a cross-sectional design. The time of the study was August 18 - September 3, 2010. The sampling technique was purposive sampling through non-probability sampling of 55 people. Data collection through interviews using structured questionnaires. Data analysis used was univariate and bivariate (chi square, simple logistic regression, and correlation test). The results showed that most pregnant women at the Ciputat Health Center had good knowledge about pregnancy exercise, namely 40 respondents (72.7%), had a positive attitude towards pregnancy exercise, namely 36 respondents (65.5%), and 32 respondents (58.2%) did not do pregnancy exercise. Based on bivariate data analysis, the p Value = 0.037 was obtained, which means there is a relationship between knowledge and the implementation of pregnancy exercises (p <0.05). Significant results were also obtained with a p Value = 0.001, which means there is a relationship between attitude and the implementation of pregnancy exercises (p <0.05). Based on the results of the study, the author suggests increasing health promotion about pregnancy exercises, and holding pregnancy exercise programs for pregnant women.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DF) remains a significant public health concern, particularly in tropical regions such as Indonesia. This narrative review explores the influence of environmental factors on the development and transmission of DF. Key environmental determinants, including standing water, temperature, humidity, urbanization, and climate change, play pivotal roles in shaping the epidemiology of DF. Poor sanitation and inadequate waste management provide breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, while rising temperatures and fluctuating rainfall patterns accelerate mosquito reproduction and virus transmission. Urbanization exacerbates DF risks by fostering unplanned infrastructure development and population density, limiting green spaces essential for mosquito predator habitats. Additionally, the review highlights the critical role of family behavior and community participation in dengue prevention, particularly through education on healthy and clean living practices. Addressing these factors requires collaborative strategies, integrating public education, urban planning, and climate adaptation to mitigate DF risks effectively. This study underscores the need for sustainable, multi-sectoral approaches to manage DF, reduce its incidence, and protect public health.

Abstract

Esophageal foreign bodies are sharp or blunt objects or food that get stuck and pinched in the esophagus due to swallowing, either intentionally or unintentionally. Symptoms of esophageal foreign body obstruction depend on the size, shape, type of foreign body and the location of the foreign body. The purpose of this study was to determine how the description of foreign bodies in the esophagus in the ORL-HNS section of Dr. M. Djamil Hospital during the period 2020-2021 (Covid-19 Pandemic). This study is a descriptive study using a cross-sectional design. The sample of this study was a population that met the inclusion criteria using the total sampling method. This data collection used patient medical records conducted at the center of the medical record facility at Dr. M. Djamil Padang Hospital. The subjects of this study were patients diagnosed with esophageal foreign body ingestion in the ORL-HNS department of Dr. M. Djamil Hospital Padang in the period 2020-2021 (COVID-19 Pandemic). In this study, 22 samples were obtained that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. The results of this study found that the percentage of sex ratio between men was comparable to women with the largest age group, namely 0-<10 years (59.09%). There were most main complaints felt by patients, namely swallowing pain (31.81%) with the duration of foreign body in the esophagus mostly >12-24 hours (50%). The location of the most foreign bodies was in the introitus of the esophagus (72.73%) with the most types of foreign bodies coins (50%) and the most management performed was esophagoscopy (100%) and no complications were found in 17 cases (77.27%) of 22 cases. During the covid-19 pandemic there was a decrease in the number of patients swallowed by foreign bodies compared to before the covid-19 pandemic, there were no differences in age, complaints, location, tye of foreign body, duration, management and complications.

Abstract

Lead is a metal that is toxic to the environment and the human body. Lead can cause oxidative stress in body tissues and organs, including the kidneys. Iodine can function as an antioxidant because it can inhibit the increase in free radicals so that oxidative stress does not occur. This study aims to see the effect of giving iodine solution on the histopathological picture of lead acetate-induced rat kidney. This study was an experimental study using 18 Rattus novergicus rats which were divided into 3 groups, namely the negative control group which was only given standard feed, positive control which was given standard feed and lead acetate 10 mg/Kg BB, and the treatment group which was given standard feed. , 10 mg/Kg BB lead acetate, and 12.5 mg iodine solution for 19 day. The rat kidney damage scores were 4 for the positive group, 2 for the treatment group, and 1 for the negative group. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of giving iodine solution in preventing damage to the kidney cells of rats induced by lead acetate.

Abstract

Microvasculature fibrin deposition is implicated in preeclampsia. D-Dimer has emerged as a useful diagnostic tool for thrombotic conditions because its plasma concentration has a high negative implicative value for veinous thromboembolism. Forty (40) consenting pregnant women were recruited from St. Philomina Catholic Hospital, Edo State, Nigeria. These subjects consisted of  twenty (20) normotensive  and twenty (20) preeclamptic pregnant women in their  third trimester of pregnancy. Blood samples was spun in a bucket centrifuge at 2500 RPM (rounds per minute) for 10 minutes after which plasma was collected  and stored frozen in plain sample bottles and was analyzed for thrombus marker (D- Dimer)  levels  by fluorescence immunoassay  method.
