Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in Indonesia's economic development; however, many face challenges in maintaining competitiveness, particularly in the traditional food sector. One example is the Putri Madu Cassava Tape Business in Jember Regency, East Java, which has experienced a decline in sales even though it has a wide market network. This study aimed to formulate an effective marketing strategy by combining SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The literature review highlighted the importance of strategic management, marketing mix, digital marketing, and empirical findings related to the competitiveness of MSMEs. Data was collected through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving business owners, employees, and marketing experts. The SWOT analysis identified key strengths such as product quality and an extensive distribution network, as well as weaknesses in the form of limited product innovation and conventional promotion. External analysis showed opportunities from digital technology adoption and government support, accompanied by the threat of fierce competition and changing consumer preferences. The QSPM results prioritized six alternative strategies, with digital marketing integration (TAS: 6.52) and product diversification (TAS: 6.20) as top priorities. These findings showed that the combination of SWOT–QSPM with digital marketing can provide a strategic framework for MSMEs to increase competitiveness, expand the market, and achieve sustainable growth.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an AI-based marketing Intelligence Model as an effort to support strategic decision-making in the development of Teaching Factory products at the Jember State Polytechnic. The study addresses the challenge of optimizing product planning and market positioning within educational manufacturing environments. An integrated approach combining internal production data from Teaching Factory operations with external market data, including price trends, consumer behavior patterns, and competitor activities, was implemented. The methodology employs K-Means Clustering algorithms for consumer segmentation analysis and advanced forecasting algorithms for demand prediction. The system architecture encompasses comprehensive data collection, preprocessing, modeling, and visualization components delivered through an interactive web-based prototype. Preliminary results demonstrate the model's capability to generate enhanced market segmentation accuracy and reliable demand projections, thereby supporting improved production planning and strategic marketing decisions for Teaching Factory operations. The implementation shows promising potential for educational institutions seeking to optimize their product development and market intelligence capabilities.

Abstract

This research analyzes the influence of the Number of Workforce, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and Domestic Investment (DI) on the economic growth of North Sumatra Province during the period 2011–2023. Economic growth is measured using Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant prices. Secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) are analyzed using multiple linear regression with natural logarithm transformation. The results indicate that, collectively, the three variables have a significant effect on economic growth. Partially, Domestic Investment (DI) has a positive and significant impact, whereas Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the Number of Workforce do not show significant effects. These findings emphasize the importance of domestic investors and highlight the need for improving workforce quality and more effective management of foreign investments. Further research is recommended to include additional variables such as infrastructure, government expenditure, or technology to provide a more comprehensive analysis

Abstract

The growth of the local cosmetics industry in Indonesia has shown significant growth in recent years, especially among Generation Z. This study aims to analyze the influence of brand awareness and brand trust on purchasing decisions for local cosmetic products, with brand attitude as a mediating variable. The research method uses a quantitative approach with an online survey of 164 Generation Z respondents who have purchased local cosmetics. Data analysis uses Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that brand awareness and brand trust have a significant positive effect on brand attitude. Brand attitude also has a significant effect on purchasing decisions. In addition, brand attitude is proven to mediate the influence of brand awareness and brand trust on purchasing decisions. These findings emphasize the importance of brand strengthening strategies to build positive consumer attitudes as a basis for forming purchasing decisions.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Government Expenditure and Economic Growth on the Human Development Index (HDI) in Timor-Leste over the period 2008–2022. The analysis employs annual time-series data and utilizes a semi-log multiple linear regression model to accommodate differences in measurement scales among variables. Descriptive results reveal substantial fluctuations in Government Expenditure and Economic Growth driven by fiscal pressures, political instability, and external shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In contrast, HDI demonstrates a gradual upward trend, reflecting the long-term nature of human development indicators. Empirical findings show that Government Expenditure and Economic Growth jointly exert a significant influence on HDI. However, partially, Government Expenditure displays a significant negative effect, suggesting inefficiencies in budget allocation or delayed policy impacts on social outcomes. Meanwhile, Economic Growth exhibits a negative but statistically insignificant effect, indicating that economic expansion, largely driven by the oil and gas sector, has not translated into meaningful improvements in human development. The model’s coefficient of determination (R² = 0.5545) indicates that 55.45% of the variation in HDI is explained by the included variables, while the remaining 44.55% is influenced by structural factors such as institutional capacity, public service quality, income distribution, and access to education and health services. Overall, the study underscores the importance of enhancing public expenditure effectiveness and promoting inclusive economic growth to strengthen human development outcomes in Timor-Leste.
