Abstract

Juveniles between the ages of 12 and 21 who engage in activities that have the potential to harm others and cause a commotion in society are considered juvenile offenders. The purpose of this study is to know how what efforts should be taken by orphanage managers and coaches to overcome adolescent bad behavior is the purpose of this study. This study used a qualitative approach to collect data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The factors behind the bad behavior of adolescents start from the lack of parental discipline and the destruction of households which are the root of the problem of many children in orphanages. The results of this study make it clear that fostering religious knowledge is one way that can be done by caregivers and administrators of the Aisyiyah Putri Bukittinggi Orphanage to eradicate juvenile delinquency. Therefore, a person can behave better if he is more deeply immersed in his religion. The study's conclusion was that caregivers and orphanage coaches can take care of children without biological parents by acting in those roles. The orphanage strives to ensure that orphanage children get a good education to prevent juvenile crime that disturbs the surrounding community.

Abstract

This research investigates the perspectives of 240 Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta) cadets regarding knowledge representation in navigational decision support systems. Grounded in a qualitative descriptive approach, the study unfolds over three semesters, examining academic self-checked intelligence, professional competences, motivations, and the cadets' viewpoints on the complexities of maritime education. The cadets, enrolled in an international programme, undergo extensive preparation for internships within the global shipping industry, necessitating proficiency in English communication aligned with International Maritime Organization standards. The findings reveal a positive correlation between academic self-checked intelligence and professional competences, underscoring the significance of metacognitive strategies in shaping technical proficiency. Motivations, both intrinsic and extrinsic, emerge as crucial influencers shaping cadets' perspectives on knowledge representation. The study also highlights the evolving confidence of cadets in English maritime literacy, emphasising the necessity of tailored language instruction strategies. Recommendations for enhancing maritime education include promoting metacognitive strategies, integrating real-world applications, tailoring language instruction, providing continuous motivational support, and ensuring regular curriculum reviews. These recommendations offer practical insights for educators and administrators to refine instructional practices and align curricula with industry demands. While acknowledging limitations such as reliance on self-reported data and the focus on a specific cohort, this research contributes to the discourse on maritime education. It serves as a foundation for future studies, urging a diversified methodology and extending the scope to include multiple maritime institutions for a more comprehensive understanding. As STIP Jakarta continues to prepare cadets for global maritime challenges, the insights gleaned from this study are integral for adapting and advancing educational practices.

Abstract

This research investigates the integration of digitalization challenges in maritime education, focusing on 240 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). In their pivotal third semester, cadets undergo comprehensive preparation for internships, aligning with their majors—Nautical, Technical, and Port and Shipping Management. The study, adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, delves into cadets' perspectives on "An Integrative Approach for Digitalization Challenges of the Future Maritime Specialists" over three semesters. The findings reveal a nuanced landscape. While cadets acknowledge the importance of digital competencies, there is a notable gap in their confidence in preparedness. The positive correlation between perceived digital proficiency and overall professional competences signifies the integral connection between traditional maritime skills and digital literacy. Motivations driving cadets include enhanced employability (64%) and personal development (28%), pointing to a pragmatic and forward-looking mindset. The self-checked intelligence aspect exposes a potential gap between awareness and action, with 80% recognizing its importance but only 35% engaging in regular self-assessment. Perspectives on digital challenges reflect a balance between optimism (52%) and concerns about job displacement (38%), necessitating a holistic educational approach. The research underscores the paramount importance of English literacy, with 82% recognizing its significance in international maritime communication. The implications call for targeted curriculum enhancements, interventions promoting regular self-assessment, and a balanced approach to addressing digital challenges. Recommendations include bridging the gap between recognized importance and perceived preparedness, leveraging motivations for tailored programs, and cultivating a culture of self-reflection. In conclusion, this research provides a comprehensive understanding of cadets' perspectives, offering a roadmap for STIP Jakarta and similar institutions to navigate the digital horizons of maritime education effectively.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the discipline of students with special needs (ABK) with a focus on the role of peer influence. The discipline of ABK students is a crucial aspect of inclusive education development, and the role of peers is considered to have a significant impact on their discipline levels. The research method involves a literature review (library research). The results indicate that peer influence can either positively or negatively affect the discipline of ABK students. Peers providing support and understanding can enhance the motivation of ABK students to maintain discipline. On the other hand, peers who are less tolerant or demeaning can hinder the creation of a conducive educational environment. Certain factors such as understanding the special needs of students, teacher training, and family roles have also proven to influence the discipline of ABK students. The importance of integrating inclusive approaches into the school curriculum and the active involvement of peers in supporting ABK students is urgent. In conclusion, this research highlights the importance of understanding and enhancing the role of peers in shaping the discipline of ABK students. By considering factors such as understanding the special needs of students and the role of the family, more effective strategies can be developed to create an inclusive educational environment that supports the discipline of ABK students.
