Abstract

Abstract

The study of hadith is always closely related to the analysis of the sanad (chain of transmission) as a chain of narrators that connects the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and subsequent generations. With the emergence of hadith forgery, the expansion of Islamic territory, and the increasing need for hadith codification, verification of the validity of the sanad has become a major urgency in the Islamic scholarly tradition. Sanad criticism is the primary method in hadith science used to assess the level of validity and reliability of the transmission line by tracing the integrity, competence, and continuity of the narrators. This study aims to comprehensively outline the concept of sanad criticism by discussing the definition, urgency, scope, and steps used by scholars in determining the quality of a sanad. The research method used is a qualitative approach based on library research by analyzing classical and contemporary sources in the field of hadith science, particularly those related to sanad criticism. The results of the study indicate that sanad criticism functions as a scientific instrument that distinguishes authentic sanads that can be used as evidence from weak or problematic ones. The object of study covers the entire chain of narrators, taking into account aspects of fairness, accuracy of memorization, and continuity of the transmission process. The application of sanad criticism to the hadith about the virtues of fasting on Mondays and Thursdays shows that the sanad of the hadith is in the category of ḥasan li-dzātih and, with the existence of supporting lines (mutāba‘āt), approaches the quality of ṣaḥīḥ, making it worthy of being used as evidence in the practice of sunnah worship. Thus, sanad criticism not only maintains the purity of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, but also becomes an important foundation in ensuring the validity of the hadith in the construction of Islamic law, both in the classical and contemporary eras.

Abstract

This article examines prophetic values in Islamic education through an analysis of the concept of tarbiyah Qur’aniyyah in Buya Hamka’s Tafsir Al-Azhar. The study aims to identify and analyze the dimensions of humanization, liberation, and transcendence reflected in Hamka’s interpretation of educational verses, particularly QS. Luqman: 13–19, QS. Al-‘Alaq: 1–5, and QS. Al-Ahzab: 21. This research employs a qualitative library approach using thematic Qur’anic interpretation (maudhu‘i) and content analysis of the tafsir text. The findings indicate that tarbiyah Qur’aniyyah in Tafsir Al-Azhar emphasizes the dignity of humanity through moral and ethical formation, the liberation of human beings from ignorance through literacy and knowledge development, and the strengthening of a transcendental orientation as the foundation of education. These findings highlight Islamic education as a holistic and integrative process rooted in Qur’anic values

Abstract

Islamic education is a comprehensive process of human development that encompasses spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social dimensions. In practice, Islamic education is not conducted through a single educational pathway but is implemented through informal, formal, and nonformal education, which complement one another. This article aims to examine the concepts, roles, and forms of synergy of Islamic education within these three educational pathways in shaping a generation of Muslims who are faithful, knowledgeable, and possess noble character (akhlaq al-karimah). This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by analyzing various literature sources, including books, scholarly journals, and relevant regulations related to the national education system and Islamic education. The findings indicate that informal education within the family serves as the primary foundation for character formation and the internalization of Islamic values; formal education in schools and madrasahs functions to systematically structure knowledge and strengthen moral development; while nonformal education plays a role in reinforcing religious practices and habituating Islamic values in social life. The synergy among these three educational pathways forms a holistic and sustainable system of Islamic education, in which the family, school, and community function as integrated centers of education. Thus, the success of Islamic education is largely determined by effective collaboration among informal, formal, and nonformal education in responding to contemporary challenges.

Abstract

The golden age of the Abbasid Dynasty from 750 to 1258 CE was a pivotal period in the history of Islamic civilization, during which knowledge, philosophy, medicine, mathematics and astronomy experienced remarkable development. This paper examines the factors that made the Abbasids a global center of learning, the contributions of Muslim scholars to the intellectual heritage of the world, and the causes of intellectual decline during the later period of the dynasty. The findings reveal that the strategic location of Baghdad, the support of the caliphs through institutions such as the Bayt al-Hikmah and the translation movement served as key catalysts for scientific advancement. Muslim scholars not only translated earlier works, but also developed new theories and methodologies that later influenced global scientific progress. The decline of the Abbasids was triggered by internal factors such as weak leadership, political instability, and family conflicts, as well as external pressures including the Crusades and the Mongol invasion. In conclusion, the Abbasid glory emerged from political stability, openness and a strong intellectual spirit, whereas its decline occurred when these foundations weakened

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Islamic texts through linguistic discourse analysis and semiotic approaches in order to reveal their linguistic structures, sign systems, and meaning constructions. The research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design. The data consist of Islamic texts, including the Qur’an, Hadith, as well as classical and contemporary Islamic writings, which are analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative method. Linguistic discourse analysis is applied to examine lexical choices, rhetorical strategies, discourse framing, cohesion, coherence, and intertextuality, while semiotic analysis focuses on symbolic meanings through the relationships between signs, denotation, and connotation. The findings indicate that Islamic texts are constructed through normative and persuasive language that represents particular religious ideologies and authorities. Religious symbols within Islamic texts contain multilayered and contextual meanings that dynamically evolve in response to social and media changes. The integration of linguistic discourse analysis and semiotics provides a more holistic understanding of Islamic texts as living and dynamic discourses interacting with social realities. This study highlights the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in Islamic textual studies to foster critical, contextual, and relevant interpretations in contemporary Muslim societies.

This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and interest in learning religious studies among students at MTs Muhammadiyah Salomekko, Bone Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The study population was all 20 students at MTs Muhammadiyah Salomekko. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data collection was carried out using a family support questionnaire and a questionnaire on interest in learning religious studies. Data analysis used a simple regression correlation test with the help of the SPSS program version 23.0. The results of the study indicate that students' family support is in the moderate category (70%), and their interest in learning religious subjects is also in the moderate category (76.7%). The results of the simple regression correlation test show a calculated r value of -0.060 with a significance of 0.800 (> 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between family support and students' interest in learning religious subjects at MTs Muhammadiyah Salomekko, Bone Regency. The implications of this study indicate that increasing interest in learning religious subjects is not enough to rely only on family support, but requires the active role of teachers, schools, peer environments, and internal factors of the students themselves

Abstract

This journal article examines the concept of Scientific Islam as an epistemological middle path between Islamic revelation and modern science, emphasizing a harmonious integration of faith, reason, and empirical observation without a detrimental dichotomy. The study employs an integrative methodology that combines philosophical, historical, and empirical analyses. The proposed approach adopts a practical model in which revelation is understood not only as a source of moral inspiration but also as a source of theoretical hypotheses in scientific research. This is exemplified in biotechnology studies that incorporate metaphysical dimensions to prevent human exploitation and safeguard human dignity.Within the historical development of Islamic civilization, the article outlines the periodization of the Golden Age (seventh to fourteenth centuries) under the Abbasid, Umayyad, and Fatimid dynasties. Cities such as Baghdad particularly through the Bayt al-Hikmah as a major center for translating Greek, Persian, and Indian works into Arabic emerged as epicenters of global innovation. This era was characterized by major advances in mathematics (Al-Khwarizmi’s development of algebra and algorithms, which significantly influenced European mathematics), medicine (Ibn Sina’s Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, which remained a standard medical reference until the seventeenth century), astronomy (Al-Battani’s refinement of Ptolemaic tables), philosophy (Al-Farabi as the “Second Teacher” after Aristotle), and architecture (such as the Great Mosque of Cordoba and Al-Haram, reflecting the integration of art and science). These contributions not only preserved ancient knowledge but also produced original discoveries, including the development of the decimal number system and the concept of zero, initially derived from India and further developed by Muslim scholars. Trade networks along the Silk Road and the Mediterranean facilitated cross-cultural dialogue, positioning Islam as an intellectual bridge between East and West and significantly influencing the European Renaissance for example, the incorporation of Al-Razi’s works on pharmacology into European universities.

Abstract

Mobile banking application migration programs often face challenges in the form of customer resistance and anxiety towards new technology. This qualitative case study aims to analyze the process, effectiveness, and dynamics of personal communication (via WhatsApp/telephone) implemented in the application migration program at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Surabaya Rungkut 1, from the reflective perspective of interns as direct participants. Data was collected through participatory observation and reflective documentation during the three-week program period, then analyzed thematically. The findings show three patterns of customer responses (Skeptical-Aggressive, Cooperative-Interactive, Verificative-Analytical) that require different handling strategies. A critical point occurred when interactions evolved from technical migration transactions to discussions about other products, marking the formation of trust and relational value. The main obstacles were customer technical barriers and network limitations. Critical reflection using four theoretical lenses reveals that personal communication functions multidimensionally: as a catalyst for technology acceptance (Technology Acceptance Model), a manifestation of service quality (SERVQUAL/IBSQ), a means of building interpersonal trust, and an investment in relationship marketing. The practical implication is that a personal approach to digital transformation should be viewed as a strategic investment that not only pursues adoption targets but, more importantly, converts the momentum of change into strengthening long-term customer loyalty.

Abstract

This article examines the contemporary hijrah phenomenon in Indonesia with a focus on three main aspects: (1) the transformation of the production and distribution of religious knowledge through social media, (2) the construction of urban middle-class religious identity, and (3) the paradox between spirituality and consumerism. Using Peter Berger's theoretical framework on the social construction of reality and the theory of the democratization of religious authority, this article shows that hijrah is a complex phenomenon that reflects the negotiation of Indonesian Muslim identity in the digital era. The findings reveal that social media has created a new ecosystem in the production of democratic yet fragmented religious knowledge, while the hijrah movement paradoxically integrates spiritual values with modern consumerist practices.
