Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Struggle Principles (Khittah Perjuangan Muhammadiyah) is a grand strategic framework that serves as an ideological guideline, movement direction, and the basis for Muhammadiyah organizational policies in realizing a True Islamic Society. This article aims to analyze the philosophical foundation, historical development, and contextual implementation of the Muhammadiyah Struggle Principles (Khittah Perjuangan Muhammadiyah) in various regions in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and document analysis of various Khittah formulations, including the Twelve-Year Steps, the Palembang Khittah, the Ujung Pandang Khittah, and the Denpasar Khittah. The results of the study indicate that the Khittah functions as a theory of struggle as well as a basic policy pattern that allows Muhammadiyah to maintain ideological consistency while remaining adaptive to socio-political changes. The implementation of the Khittah through the Muhammadiyah Enterprises (AUM) in the fields of education, health, and social society reflects a moral political strategy (high politics), civil empowerment, and inclusive and humanity-oriented community da'wah practices.

Abstract

The development of Qur'anic interpretation in the modern era is a response to increasingly complex social, cultural, scientific, and technological changes. Interpretation no longer focuses solely on linguistic and legal explanations but is also directed toward addressing the problems of contemporary Muslims. This journal examines the dynamics of the development of Qur'anic interpretation in the modern era, encompassing the background to its emergence, the characteristics of modern interpretation, and the methods and styles of interpretation used by modern commentators. Furthermore, it discusses important figures who played a role in the development of modern interpretation and their contributions to Islamic thought. The discussion shows that modern interpretation tends to be contextual, rational, and thematic, emphasizing the relevance of Qur'anic teachings to the lives of modern society. Thus, Qur'anic interpretation in the modern era serves as a bridge between the revealed text and the realities of contemporary Muslim life.

Abstract

Leadership strategy refers to a leader’s ability to design, implement, and direct programs effectively to achieve educational institutional goals. This study aims to describe the leadership strategies of the head of the madrasa in implementing the Tahfidzul Qur’an Program using the murrotal and muroja’ah methods at RA Waqiah Pekukuhan Mojosari. The Tahfidzul Qur’an program is designed to strengthen, reinforce, and preserve students’ Qur’anic memorization from an early age in a sustainable manner. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the leadership strategy is implemented through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, the head of the madrasa collaborates with the vice principal for curriculum to prepare a Daily Activity Plan (RKH), which includes teacher schedules and memorization materials such as selected surahs, daily prayers, and hadiths. The implementation stage is carried out through collective murrotal and muroja’ah activities involving all KB and RA students under teacher supervision. The evaluation stage is conducted through daily observation-based assessments using anecdotal records and checklists, which are reported weekly to parents. The program has proven effective in enhancing students’ social interaction and strengthening their Qur’anic memorization, particularly Surah Yasin, Al-Waqi’ah, short surahs in Juz 30, selected hadiths, and daily prayers.

Abstract

Hadith is the second source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an. However, unlike the Qur'an, Hadith requires in-depth research to determine its quality due to the dynamics in the transmission process (sanad) and the text content (matan). This study aims to examine the urgency, history, and methodology of takhrij al-hadith as a vital instrument in determining whether a hadith is maqbul (accepted) or mardud (rejected). The research method used is library research with content analysis techniques on primary and secondary literature in the field of Ulumul Hadith. The results show that takhrij is a method of tracing hadith to its original source (the primary books) by explaining the chain of transmission and its quality. There are five main methods in takhrij: (1) based on the first word of the matan, (2) through keywords (bi al-lafzh), (3) based on the theme (bi al-maudhu’), (4) based on the first narrator (bi al-rawi al-a'la), and (5) based on the specific attributes or status of the hadith. The urgency of takhrij lies in its ability to preserve the purity of Islamic teachings from fabricated narrations, clarify obscure chains of transmission, and provide a solid foundation for Muslims in practicing a hadith.

Abstract

Diversity of opinion (khilafiyah) and schools of Islamic legal thought (mazhab) are inseparable phenomena in the history of Islamic development. This research focuses on examining the basic concept of khilafiyah and the existence of mazhab within the framework of Al-Islam KeMuhammadiyahan. This study uses a qualitative method of library research, examining classical fiqh literature, the history of Islamic law, and the Muhammadiyah Tarjih guidelines. The discussion focuses on two main points: First, the nature of madhhab as a systematic methodology (manhaj) in exploring law, not merely the opinions of prominent figures. Second, the nature of khilafiyah as a logical consequence of differences in methodology in the realm of furu'iyah (branches of religion), not in the realm of ushul (principles of faith). The results of the study indicate that the dynamics of khilafiyah arise due to variations in the understanding of the text of the dalil and differences in sociological conditions between madhhabs. From a Muhammadiyah perspective, a complete understanding of the position of madhhab and the causes of khilafiyah is very important to avoid blind fanaticism (taqlid) and build a moderate (wasathiyah) and tolerant religious attitude amidst differences in the community.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, founded on November 18, 1912, by KH. Ahmad Dahlan. Since its establishment, Muhammadiyah has not only focused on religious activities but has also actively contributed to national politics, economic development, and women’s empowerment. This study aims to analyze and revitalize the role of Muhammadiyah in these three sectors. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research based on theoretical sources and organizational data. The findings indicate that in the political field, Muhammadiyah promotes the concept of high politics or value-based politics by maintaining institutional neutrality from practical party politics while remaining active in national affairs. In the economic sector, Muhammadiyah develops charitable enterprises, cooperatives, and community economic empowerment through structural, functional, and cultural approaches. Meanwhile, in women’s empowerment, Muhammadiyah through its autonomous organizations such as Aisyiyah and Nasyiatul Aisyiyah has significantly contributed in education, health, and women’s economic development. The revitalization of these roles is essential to strengthen Muhammadiyah’s contribution in building a progressive Islamic society.

Abstract

Morality (akhlaq) constitutes the core of Islamic teachings and serves as a guiding principle in shaping the complete personality of human beings. In the modern context, moral values are often eroded by technological advancement, globalization, and rapid social change. This study aims to examine in depth the concept of akhlaq in Islam, its theological and philosophical foundations, and its relevance in education and contemporary social life. The approach employed in this research is descriptive-analytical, through the examination of classical and contemporary literature. The findings indicate that Islamic morality is derived from the Qur’an, Hadith, and the thoughts of scholars such as Al-Ghazali and Ibn Miskawayh, who emphasize the balance between reason, the heart, and actions. In the modern era, akhlaq plays a central role in shaping the character of the younger generation to be individuals of integrity, empathy, and adaptability in facing the developments of the time. Moral education thus becomes essential in addressing moral degradation caused by hedonism, individualism, and digital disinformation.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah is an Islamic movement founded by Ahmad Dahlan in 1912 with the aim of promoting reform (tajdid) in Muslim society. The ethos of Muhammadiyah is grounded in the purification of Islamic teachings based on the Qur’an and Sunnah, a spirit of reform, rationality, and a strong orientation toward concrete social action. The movement emphasizes education, social services, healthcare, and community empowerment as manifestations of enlightened and progressive da‘wah. Muhammadiyah’s vision is the realization of a truly Islamic society—one that upholds sound faith, noble character, justice, prosperity, and a high level of civilization. Through its reformist ethos and transformative social vision, Muhammadiyah plays an active role in advancing religious, national, and humanitarian life based on progressive and inclusive Islamic values.
