Abstract

The Jujuran tradition is one of the customary practices deeply rooted in the marriage system of the Banjar community. This tradition functions not only as a symbol of sincerity and respect toward the bride’s family but also reflects the social, economic, and cultural relations within society. However, in contemporary practice, Jujuran has often undergone a shift in meaning from an ethical customary symbol to a material demand that can be burdensome and may generate social problems, such as the postponement of marriage. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research and field studies conducted through interviews. The findings suggest that the Jujuran tradition is acceptable in Islam, provided it does not contradict Islamic law, is non-coercive, and adheres to the principles of ease and justice in marriage. Therefore, a critical and contextual reinterpretation of the Jujuran tradition is essential to ensure its alignment with Islamic values while remaining responsive to the social dynamics of contemporary Banjar society.

Abstract

The background of this research stems from the question of whether science, religion, and philosophy are related and interconnected. Therefore, I conducted this research with the aim of understanding the relationship between science, religion, and philosophy and how we should approach philosophy. This research used a qualitative method based on literature review, which involved searching for and reading books and scholarly works on philosophy, science, and religion. The results showed that science, religion, and philosophy are closely related and interconnected. Philosophy is the source of knowledge, which then, through science, has created the advanced technology we have today. Religion is a guide for human life, enabling us to live in an orderly and orderly manner, following the guidance of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, rationally and scientifically, thus avoiding the shackles of myth and superstition. However, it is important to be careful when studying philosophy, not to overdo it and not to overdo it. Nor should we reject philosophy, thus preventing rational thinking, which ultimately leads to superstitious beliefs and myths, which would regress us backward to civilization before ancient Greece.

Abstract

The death of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave rise to political and theological dynamics within the Muslim community. The conflicts during the period of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, particularly following the arbitration (tahkim) between Ali ibn Abi Talib and Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan, resulted not only in political fragmentation but also in the emergence of various theological schools in Islam. This study aims to examine the historical background and main doctrines of the Khawarij, Murji’ah, Jabariyah, and Qadariyah, especially concerning issues of faith, major sins, and divine decree (qada and qadar). This research employs a qualitative-descriptive method with a library research approach by analyzing relevant books, journals, and scholarly articles. The findings indicate that the Khawarij and Murji’ah emerged as responses to political conflict, while the Jabariyah and Qadariyah developed due to differing interpretations of human will and freedom within God’s decree.

Abstract

This article examines the da‘wah strategy of Muhammadiyah as a model of Islamic preaching oriented toward doctrinal purification and social transformation. As a modern Islamic organization, Muhammadiyah develops da‘wah not merely as a normative-theological activity, but also as a concrete social movement implemented across various sectors of society. This study aims to analyze the theological and ideological foundations of Muhammadiyah’s da‘wah, its strategic approaches, implementation in education, social, economic, and media sectors, as well as the challenges faced in the contemporary era. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by reviewing relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that Muhammadiyah’s da‘wah is grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah, framed by the principles of purification (tajrid) and renewal (tajdid), and carried out through cultural, structural, and action-based (bil-hal) approaches. Despite challenges posed by globalization, technological advancement, and socio-cultural change, Muhammadiyah demonstrates strong potential to sustain an adaptive, inclusive, and progressive Islamic da‘wah.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of worship in Islam through two approaches: theological and practical. Theologically, worship is understood as the purpose of human creation and a form of total submission to God bound by the principles of sincerity and ittiba' (following the guidance of sharia). Practically, worship includes not only mahdhah (ritual) worship such as prayer, fasting, zakat, and hajj, but also ghairu mahdhah (non-ritual) worship in the form of social and professional activities that have the value of worship if they fulfill the requirements of intention, are halal (permissible) in nature, and bring benefits. Using a library study and thematic analysis of primary Islamic sources and literary concepts, this article demonstrates that worship is a framework for life (worldview) that integrates spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. The main findings confirm that the quality of worship is determined by its alignment with sharia, sincerity, and ethical impact on social life. This article recommends strengthening comprehensive worship literacy to build a Muslim character that is consistent between personal and social piety.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of Tawhid in Islam, which affirms the oneness of Allah SWT and serves as the foundation for Islamic thought, ethics, and practice. The study examines the three main dimensions of Tawhid : rubūbiyyah, ulūhiyyah, and asmā’ wa ṣifāt, and their implications for human relationships with God, fellow humans, and the universe. It highlights the importance of Tawhid in shaping a worldview responsive to modern social and moral issues. The research method includes phenomenological study, library research, and content analysis of classical and modern Islamic theological texts. The findings emphasize that Tawhid must be internalized in both mindset and social actions, impacting spiritual, social, and ecological life. Tawhid fosters dependence on Allah, promotes social equality and justice, and encourages ecological responsibility as guardians of nature. The study suggests that understanding Tawhid is essential for developing a contextual and responsive curriculum for Islamic faith education in the contemporary world.

Abstract

Khilafiyah is a phenomenon inseparable from the dynamics of legal and theological thought in Islam. Differences of opinion among scholars arise as a consequence of various methods of interpreting the Qur'an and Hadith, and are influenced by historical, social, and cultural factors. This study aims to analyze the concept of khilafiyah and the comparison of schools of thought in Islam, identify the factors causing the emergence of differences of opinion, and examine their impact on religious practices and the social life of Muslim communities. This study uses a qualitative approach using literature studies, interviews with scholars and community leaders, and observations of religious practices within Muslim communities. Data are analyzed descriptively and analytically to gain a comprehensive understanding of khilafiyah and the dynamics between schools of thought. The results show that khilafiyah reflects not only differences in fiqh but also in theology, ethics, and worship practices. While potentially causing conflict, khilafiyah also has a positive role in enriching the intellectual treasury of Islam and fostering tolerance when addressed wisely. Therefore, an inclusive and dialogical understanding of khilafiyah and comparison of schools of thought is an important key in maintaining harmony and unity of Muslims in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Mental health issues are among the major challenges faced by modern society. Technological development, academic and occupational pressures, urbanization, and rapid lifestyle changes have increased the incidence of stress, anxiety, depression, and loss of meaning in life. Various scientific approaches in modern psychology and psychiatry have been developed to address these problems; however, moral and spiritual dimensions often receive insufficient attention. In this context, the ideas of classical Islamic philosophers, particularly Ibn Sina, provide important contributions to developing a more holistic understanding of the human person and mental health. This study aims to examine the relevance of Ibn Sina’s concept of the soul to modern mental health. The method used is library research through analysis of Ibn Sina’s works and contemporary psychological literature. Ibn Sina classifies the soul into vegetative, animal, and rational faculties, and emphasizes the balance between intellect, emotion, and human appetites. The results of this study indicate that Ibn Sina’s concept of psychic balance is highly relevant to modern mental health, especially in integrating rational, ethical, and spiritual aspects into the process of healing and maintaining psychological well-being.
