Abstract

Abstrak. This Community Service (PKM) initiative is to facilitate socialization and training in the utilization of the Jumble Words game as a tool for enhancing English vocabulary among sixth-grade students at SDN 3 Gunung Batu, Ciracap district. The exercise was executed in stages: developing vocabulary resources aligned with the curriculum, elucidating the concepts and rules of the game, and guiding students in direct gameplay practice. The employed method was a participatory approach, when students actively organize random letters into appropriate words according to specific categories or topics. The activity's results indicated a favorable reaction from both students and teachers, characterized by heightened enthusiasm, active participation, and enhanced comprehension of the new terminology. This activity is anticipated to provide as an innovative option for English language acquisition in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to produce liquid dishwashing soap by integrating synthetic and natural ingredients, namely Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES), salt, food coloring, ethanol, and lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) as a natural-based cleaning agent. Lime was chosen because it contains citric acid and antibacterial compounds that are effective in removing grease and dirt. The method used in this study was an experiment with three variations of lime concentration (10%, 15%, and 20%) to assess its impact on soap quality. The parameters tested included fat-cleaning ability, foam stability, acidity level (pH), and skin irritation potential. The results showed that the formula with 15% lime content was the most optimal, demonstrating efficiency in cleaning tableware, producing stable foam, and having a pH close to neutral, making it safe for use. No irritation reactions were detected on the skin of the respondents. These findings indicate that the combination of natural and synthetic ingredients can produce an effective, economical, and ecological dishwashing soap. This product has the potential to be developed as a safer option for households and the environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of an educational snakes and ladders game as an innovative learning medium to enhance students’ motivation and understanding at SD Negeri Ngebung 1, Kalijambe District, Sragen, Central Java. The activity, initiated by the Community Service Program (KKN) Team 297 from Universitas Sebelas Maret, was conducted on July 23 as part of the program “Edu Fun: Education in Games”, aligning with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Quality Education. The snakes and ladders game was modified so that each square contained educational questions or challenges related to school subjects, general knowledge, and character values. This interactive approach was designed to reduce classroom learning fatigue, foster critical thinking, and create an engaging learning atmosphere. The results of the implementation showed a high level of enthusiasm among students, who actively collaborated in groups to answer questions and complete challenges, with teachers also participating in facilitating the activity. This initiative demonstrates that incorporating educational games into classroom activities can serve as an effective strategy for enhancing both motivation and comprehension among elementary school students.

Abstract

Improper management of used cooking oil has a negative impact on the environment and health. This issue prompted students from the Special Mission Community Service Program at UIN Walisongo Semarang to collaborate with students from IAKN Palangka Raya in finding a solution. Students from the Special Mission Community Service Program conducted a training session on making hand soap from used cooking oil, attended by 20 sixth-grade students from SDN Wilayu Village, Wonosobo. The training aimed to foster environmental awareness and creativity among the students. During the training, the students guided the participants in the practical process of making soap. Additionally, they educated the students about the dangers of used cooking oil and its negative impacts on health and the environment. To ensure the students could replicate the process at home, the students created and uploaded a tutorial video on YouTube. Starting with the sixth-grade students at Wilayu Elementary School, the Special Mission Community Service Program students hope this initiative will have a positive impact on Indonesia's future.

Abstract

Coffee plantations are one of Indonesia’s main commodities, producing up to 60% coffee husk waste from total production, most of which remains underutilized. This study aims to explore the potential use of coffee husk waste as raw material for liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) through fermentation. The method employed was anaerobic fermentation for seven days using EM4 bio-activator and molasses as an energy source for microorganisms. The results showed that the produced LOF contained essential macro-nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as phytohormones including auxins and cytokinins that support plant growth. Application of coffee husk-based LOF positively affected robusta coffee seedling growth, indicating its potential as an eco-friendly fertilizer alternative while simultaneously reducing plantation waste pollution.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Gunungbatu Village with the aim of improving the reading and writing skills and expanding the English vocabulary of elementary school students. This program applied a descriptive qualitative approach with a learning method that integrated visual and audio elements using images, word cards, and simple songs. Data was collected through participatory observation and simple vocabulary assessments before and after the activity. The results indicated a significant improvement in vocabulary mastery, from an average of 3–5 basic words at the start of the activity to over 20 words after four weeks. Additionally, students became more confident, motivated, and able to use new vocabulary in simple sentences. Therefore, the use of visual and audio methods has proven successful in improving elementary school students' English language skills and can serve as an alternative option in literacy learning processes.

Abstract

The background of this research is based on the importance of religious character education from an early age as a moral and spiritual foundation, in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System and Permendikbud Number 137 of 2014 concerning National Standards for Early Childhood Education. This study aims to describe the strategies of Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) teachers in shaping the religious character of young children in the Society 5.0 era. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of PAUD teachers. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity testing using source and method triangulation. The research results indicate that teachers' strategies include (1) setting an example, such as greeting others, praying before and after activities, speaking politely, and dressing according to Islamic law; (2) habit formation, such as praying before meals, reciting prayers before and after learning, and performing congregational dhuha prayers; and (3) reinforcing religious values in learning through storytelling and the use of religious songs. These strategies are effective in fostering consistent religious behavior in children, are relevant to learning needs in the Society 5.0 era, and can be adapted in both school and home environments.
