Abstract

Centella asiatica (locally “rendeng”) is often considered a weed despite its nutritional and economic potential. This community-engaged study aimed to develop an innovative Rendeng chip product and evaluate a digital marketing strategy to empower residents of Laranganlor Village. The method was a qualitative community service approach consisting of stakeholder confirmation, community socialization, hands-on product training, packaging instruction, and guided digital marketing (WhatsApp Business, e-commerce, simple visual content). Key findings: local government support facilitated implementation; technical training and improved packaging raised product quality; digital marketing expanded market reach and produced initial sales inquiries; monitoring revealed gaps in recipe standardization, equipment (precision scales, oil thermometers), and digital literacy that must be addressed to ensure sustainability and scale-up.

Abstract

In the Legal Section of the Bukittinggi City Regional Secretariat, the implementation of digital attendance is intended to improve employee discipline, particularly in punctuality in arriving and leaving work. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of digital attendance implementation, identify obstacles encountered, and provide recommendations to support the system's future optimization. Based on in-depth interviews with employees of the Legal Section of the Bukittinggi City Regional Secretariat, the results indicate that the implementation of digital attendance has brought positive changes in attendance discipline. Real-time attendance data makes employees more careful in managing their arrival and departure times, as this system does not impose the same tolerances as manual attendance. However, the reality shows that the implementation of digital attendance does not always run smoothly. Obstacles such as internet network disruptions, device damage, limited employee technical knowledge, and suboptimal individual discipline are still encountered.

Abstract

Road safety is a crucial aspect that is often overlooked in rural areas, including in Gondowulan Village. Inadequate lighting and the absence of road safety facilities such as road reflectors and speed bumps increase the risk of accidents, particularly at night and in densely populated residential areas. To address this issue, students participating in the Community Service lecture (KPM) implemented a project focused on improving road safety by installing road reflectors and speed bumps at critical points in Gondowulan Village. This activity aimed to enhance nighttime road visibility, reduce vehicle speeds, and raise public awareness about the importance of traffic safety. The project was carried out in several stages: field observations, mapping of accident-prone areas, coordination with village officials, community education, and the technical installation of reflectors and speed bumps through a collaborative effort with local residents. The results showed increased community awareness and a noticeable change in driver behavior—vehicles became slower and more cautious, especially in areas where the safety facilities had been installed. This initiative demonstrates that student involvement through KPM programs can contribute significantly to solving real problems in rural communities. The program not only had a direct impact on road safety but also fostered collaboration between students, local government, and residents in building a safer and more orderly village environment.
