Abstract

The 2018 natural disaster in Palu, Sigi, and Donggala (PASIGALA) caused significant losses in the furniture industry, including infrastructure damage, supply chain disruptions, and loss of livelihoods. This study aims to formulate sustainable recovery strategies for the sector through observations and in-depth interviews. The findings highlight key challenges such as facility damage, asset loss, limited capital, and raw material shortages. Recovery strategies include infrastructure repair, access to funding, product diversification, digital marketing, and community empowerment. Support from the government and financial institutions, including financial aid and training, has been critical to recovery success. Signs of recovery are evident through increased production and sales, although raw material supply remains a pressing issue. This study provides strategic recommendations to rebuild a resilient and sustainable furniture industry while contributing to more inclusive and adaptive recovery policies for future disaster resilience.

Abstract

Reading activities are activities that need to be preserved and developed in Indonesia. According to research entitled "World's Most Literate Nations Ranked" conducted by Central Connecticut State University in 2016, Indonesia was ranked 60th out of 61 countries in terms of literacy levels. One of them is in East Java. Reading interest in Jember Regency has started to increase, reaching 54.7% compared to 47% during the Covid-19 pandemic. The reason the collaborative KKN team 67 moved in the realm of literacy was the fact during the DTKS survey activity, namely the large number of residents in Lampeji Village whose educational background only reached junior high school or high school, and what is even sadder is that this fact was also found in children of productive age. This is the basis for us to move in the realm of literacy as a form of prevention of bad possibilities happening to the next generation. Collaborative KKN students group 067 present a literacy corner which is placed in the Lampeji village hall in the Mumbulsari District area. One part of literacy that is the focus for development is reading culture. This research on the role of reading corners in fostering reading interest in the people of Lampeji Village uses qualitative methods. Reading Corners play a role in increasing the spirit of learning, providing readers with an understanding of science and facilitating the community to read books. Reading Corners in Lampeji Village act as an inspiring learning center, helping children and teenagers in Lampeji Village grow into a smart and knowledgeable generation.

Abstract

This Community Service activity is titled "The Dangers of Vote-Buying Practices in Local Elections." The initiative was based on the findings of research conducted by Irwan Waris, entitled Vote-Buying in the 2020 Regional Elections in Central Sulawesi. The study revealed that vote-buying practices continued during the campaign period and in the lead-up to the local election day in Palu City and Parigi Moutong Regency. Similar political activities also occurred in other regions. Theoretically and empirically, these vote-buying practices influence the quality of elected leaders, which ultimately harms the public. Elected regional leaders may not genuinely focus on regional development and the welfare of the people .The objectives of this activity include providing knowledge and understanding to the public about the dangers of vote-buying in local elections and preventing or at least minimizing its occurrence. This activity will be carried out in Wanagading Village, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency. The community service activity will take the form of public education sessions held through meetings or lectures, involving eligible voters in Wanagading Village, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency, over the course of one day. Approximately 40 community leaders are expected to participate in the activity, which will be conducted in stages: preparation, participant selection, implementation, and reporting. It is hoped that participants in this activity will apply the knowledge gained and serve as inspirators and resource persons, reminding other community members about the dangers of vote-buying in local elections. The outcome of this community service activity will be a scholarly article published in the Journal of Community Service, LPPM, Tadulako University.
