Abstract

This community service program was conducted at SDN 88 Kota Gorontalo to enhance young learners’ engagement and participation in English learning through the integration of audio-visual media within a song-based instructional approach. English instruction at the elementary level often faces challenges related to limited attention span, low motivation, and minimal exposure to authentic language input. To address these issues, this program implemented an instructional design combining songs with audio-visual support to create a more engaging and meaningful learning environment.The activity was carried out in three main stages: material presentation, structured practice, and interactive performative activities. Audio-visual media were utilized to provide contextualized language input, reinforce pronunciation, and stimulate students’ multimodal learning experiences. Songs were selected based on age appropriateness, linguistic simplicity, and thematic relevance to the topic of parts of the body.The results indicated increased student participation, improved pronunciation accuracy, and greater confidence in responding to English instructions. Students demonstrated higher enthusiasm and were more actively involved during singing and movement-based activities. The integration of visual and auditory stimuli helped learners better comprehend and retain vocabulary.This program implies that combining audio-visual media with song-based instruction can serve as an effective pedagogical strategy for young learners. The approach not only supports language acquisition but also fosters a positive and enjoyable classroom atmosphere in elementary English education.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in response to the limited exposure of elementary school students to basic English vocabulary, particularly words related to objects in their immediate learning environment. Vocabulary mastery at an early age is essential to support the development of students’ foundational English skills, including listening and speaking. Therefore, this activity aimed to introduce and improve students’ English vocabulary through the topic “Things in the Classroom.”. The program was implemented at SDN 91 Kota Gorontalo and involved a group of elementary students as participants. The method applied interactive and student-centered teaching strategies, including the use of real classroom objects, visual aids, repetition drills, question-and-answer sessions, and educational games. These approaches were designed to create an enjoyable learning atmosphere and to encourage active participation. The activity was conducted in one instructional session consisting of vocabulary presentation, guided practice, and simple production activities. The results indicated that students showed high enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the session. Most participants were able to recognize, pronounce, and correctly mention classroom-related vocabulary at the end of the activity. The use of contextual and game-based learning strategies helped students understand and retain the new vocabulary more effectively. This program implies that interactive and contextual vocabulary instruction is effective in supporting young learners’ English acquisition. It is recommended that similar community service programs be conducted continuously to strengthen students’ basic English competence and increase their confidence in using simple English vocabulary.

Abstract

The development of digital technology offers great opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in rural areas to expand their market reach. However, limited digital literacy often causes business actors to not optimize social media as a marketing instrument. This community service activity aims to help digitalize promotion while educating the public regarding cashless payment methods (QRIS) at the "Warung Teras Ibu" MSME in Pedataran Village, Gelumbang District. The implementation method uses a Digital Community Service approach through the creation of short video content uploaded to the TikTok platform (@kkn84_kel38uinrf). The stages of the activity include observation, taking food review videos, demonstrating QRIS payments, and visual editing. The results of the community service show that the utilization of the TikTok algorithm is very effective in boosting the visibility of local MSMEs. In a short time, the promotional content successfully reached 2,775 views, 67 likes, and 2 shares. In addition, the integration of the QRIS demonstration in the video proved to be a catalyst for inclusive digital financial literacy education for the wider community. This activity concludes that digital marketing interventions carried out by KKN students are able to break the geographical isolation of rural MSMEs, introduce local products to a wider audience, and support the acceleration of cashless financial inclusion in the region.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms of community involvement, the impact of the Adzan Magrib activity, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation in Pedataran Village, Gelumbang, Muara Enim. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews with religious leaders, mosque administrators, parents, and documentation of activities. The findings show that community involvement is reflected in parents guiding their children to the mosque, the role of religious teachers in teaching Qur’an reading and moral values, and the support of mosque administrators and the surrounding community in maintaining the activity. The Adzan Magrib activity improves children’s ability to read the Qur’an, builds the habit of congregational prayer, and shapes positive character. Supporting factors include parental support, active religious leaders, strong social ties, and established religious traditions. Meanwhile, obstacles include parents’ busy schedules, digital entertainment influence, limited facilities, and peer influence. Overall, the Adzan Magrib activity serves as an effective means of strengthening Islamic outreach within the Pedataran Village community.

Abstract

This community service initiative aims to enhance the productivity and added value of spice crops through an integrated agribusiness approach. The program encompasses training in organic-based spice cultivation and simplified processing techniques to generate value-added products. The training and mentoring activities have proven effective in improving the community's knowledge and skills in processing spices into high-value products, such as instant ginger, kunyit asam (turmeric acid drink), and spice powders. Furthermore, participants have gained a comprehensive understanding of basic packaging and labeling techniques, as well as the strengthening of business management and marketing capacities. It is expected that these activities will not only improve the welfare of local farmers but also establish a spice agribusiness model that can be replicated in other regions of South Papua. Beyond increasing farmers' income, this initiative contributes to local economic resilience and the preservation of traditional knowledge regarding the use of spices as medicinal plants. Through direct community involvement and a participatory approach, this service is anticipated to provide a long-lasting impact on building a sustainable economy based on local potential.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of elementary school teachers’ pedagogical competence through a deep learning-based instructional transformation workshop conducted at SDN Dependa 1, in response to the demands of 21st-century education that emphasize meaningful and student-centered learning. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving the school principal and teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with validity ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal that the workshop had a positive impact on enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence, as indicated by improved understanding of deep learning concepts, the ability to design student-centered lesson plans, enhanced classroom management skills, and increased capacity for reflective practice and instructional material development. These improvements also contributed to greater student participation and better conceptual understanding. Therefore, the deep learning transformation workshop is proven to be effective in promoting sustainable changes in teaching practices and improving teachers’ pedagogical competence. It is recommended that such workshops be accompanied by continuous mentoring and replicated in other schools to support broader educational transformation.
