Abstract

Abstract

Introduction Maluku Province was one of the provinces in Indonesia with a high utilization of non-trained delivery attendants during childbirth. The study aims to examine factors associated with utilization of non-trained delivery attendants in the catchment area of Negeri Lima Puskesmas of Leihitu Peninsula in Maluku Province. Methods Data were derived from a household survey conducted in November 2018, in five villages as the catchment areas of Negeri Lima Health Center. Information was collected form 99 mothers who recently delivered in the last six months. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to analyze factors associated with use of non-trained delivery attendants. Results More than 45% of mothers who delivered in the last six months used non-trained delivery attendants at childbirth. A significantly lower odds for using non-trained attendants was found in mothers who graduated from senior high school (aOR=0.23, 95% CI: 0.06-0.83) or academy/university (aOR=0.06, 95% CI: 0.01-0.34) than those graduated from primary school or lower. A similar pattern was found with father’s education. Additionally, the odds of using non-trained attendants reduced significantly amongst mothers attending four or more antenatal care services (aOR=0.34, 95% CI: 0.12-0.96). Conclusions Interventions to promote optimum use of antenatal care and improve community awareness and knowledge about mother and child health care are still essential. Involvement of different types of community members in health promotion activities, in addition to efforts to assign new roles to traditional birth attendants will help to increase the uptake of trained delivery attendants at childbirth amongst mothers in this area. Abstract

Abstract

Background: Antenatal Care (ANC) is a health service that is conducted to monitor and support the health of the mother and fetus and detect the presence of disorders during pregnancy and prevent complications. An ANC visits are said to be compliant if pregnant women make ANC visits at least six times. Anc's visit in Ambon City showed a decrease from 2019 to 2020. This study was conducted with the aim of finding out if there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of pregnant women with compliance with ANC visits at Rijali Health Center in 2021.Method: This type of research is analytical with a cross-sectional approach with a sample number of 140 using consecutive sampling techniques. The analysis used in this study was a univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Results: The results of this study obtained the percentage of respondents who obediently conducted an ANC of 74.3% and non-compliant by 25.7%.Conclusion : Based on the results of the chi-square test there is a relationship between knowledge (p = 0.007) and compliance with ANC visits at Rijali Health Center and there is no relationship between attitude (p = 0.745) and compliance with ANC visits at Rijali Health Center. Thus this study demonstrates the importance of knowledge and attitude in carrying out an ANC visit.

Abstract

Acute respiratory infection (ARI) is one of the most common diseases affecting children, both in developed and developing countries. WHO (World Health Organization) in 2007 also said that around 13 million children under five worldwide die every year and most of these deaths are in developing countries such as in Asia and Africa. ARI is caused by various types of viruses and bacteria. The bacteria that cause it are from the genus Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Pnemococcus, Hemophilus, Bordetella, and Korinebacterium. Viruses that cause are the Microvirus, Adenovirus, Coronavirus, Pikonaviru and Mikoplasma, Herpesvirus. ARI can also be transmitted through saliva, sneezing, respiratory air that contains germs in the form of bacteria and viruses which are inhaled into the respiratory tract and air pollutants such as PM10, CO, and so on. Aim. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of ARI in toddlers in Banda Baru Village, Amahai District, Central Maluku Regency in 2020. Methods. The research method used was a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was total sampling in which all populations were sampled on the condition that they met the inclusion criteria. Results. The data collected by 43 respondents using a questionnaire. The results obtained with a large percentage, namely the type of floor factor that still used semi-permanent was obtained (81.4%) and those suffering from ISPA were (53.5%). Another percentage is from the cooking fuel variable where respondents who still use wood for cooking are (46.5%) and those who suffer from ARI (34.9%). Conclusion. Banda Baru Village residents are expected to minimize the factors that affect ARI.
