Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has brought changes to the learning process in elementary schools, one of which is through the use of digital media. The use of technology-based learning media can be a means to support the implementation of digital literacy while increasing student learning engagement. This study aims to describe the implementation of Kahoot!-based digital literacy and its impact on student learning engagement at SDN Pangarangan V. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data sources consisted of primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the principal, teachers, and students in grades III, IV, V, and VI, while secondary data came from supporting documents and relevant scientific articles. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the implementation of Kahoot!-based digital literacy was carried out through the stages of media introduction, learning implementation, and evaluation. The use of Kahoot! made the learning process more interesting, interactive, and enjoyable, enabling students to be more active in answering questions, discussing, and engaging in learning activities. Furthermore, the use of this media also helps students become familiar with and utilize digital technology as a learning tool. Despite several obstacles, such as limited devices and unstable internet connections, the implementation of Kahoot! still has a positive impact on increasing student learning engagement.

Abstract

Sustainable agriculture is an approach aimed at increasing agricultural productivity while maintaining environmental sustainability and improving farmers’ welfare. One of the major challenges in modern agriculture is the excessive reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which can lead to soil degradation, environmental pollution, and pest resistance. Therefore, the use of organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides has been increasingly promoted as environmentally friendly alternatives. Organic fertilizers, derived from decomposed organic materials such as animal manure and plant residues, play a significant role in improving soil structure, enhancing microbial activity, and increasing the soil’s capacity to retain water and nutrients. Meanwhile, botanical pesticides, obtained from plant-based materials containing bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, function as contact poisons, stomach poisons, repellents, and antifeedants against pests. The integration of organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides supports sustainable agricultural systems by reducing environmental impacts and promoting ecological balance. In addition, the utilization of locally available resources contributes to cost efficiency and enhances farmers’ independence. However, the adoption of these technologies remains relatively low due to limited knowledge and technical skills among farmers. Therefore, educational efforts through socialization and demonstration activities are essential to improve farmers’ understanding and implementation of environmentally friendly agricultural practices. In conclusion, the integration of organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides represents a strategic approach to achieving sustainable agriculture by improving soil fertility, controlling pests effectively, and preserving environmental health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of active learning strategies in improving student activeness at SDN Gapura Barat 1. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed with 19 third-grade students as participants. Data were collected through prolonged observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model and thematic coding. The findings reveal that active learning strategies enhance student participation, confidence, and interaction. Thematic analysis indicates four key dimensions of change: behavioral engagement, cognitive engagement, emotional engagement, and social interaction. The study concludes that active learning fosters a student-centered and meaningful learning environment in elementary classrooms.

Abstract

Waste cooking oil is a common household waste that is often improperly disposed of, leading to environmental pollution and potential health risks. The increasing consumption of cooking oil contributes to the growing volume of waste oil, while public awareness regarding proper management remains limited. Improper disposal practices, such as pouring waste oil into drainage systems or soil, can degrade water quality, disrupt aquatic ecosystems, and increase pollution indicators such as Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). This study aimed to improve community knowledge and skills in managing waste cooking oil through environmentally friendly soap-making training. The program was conducted by students of the Community Service Program (KKN) of Universitas Sebelas Maret through counseling and hands-on training for members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) in Jatiroyo Village. A participatory and practice-based approach (learning by doing) was applied, incorporating zero waste principles (reduce, reuse, recycle). The program involved 45 participants and included stages such as environmental education, demonstration, and direct practice of soap production. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of environmental and health impacts, with approximately 90% of participants able to independently produce soap after the training. The program also increased environmental awareness and practical skills, showing strong potential as a sustainable waste management solution and an opportunity for community-based economic empowerment..

Abstract

Scientific writing is an essential competency that must be mastered by university students, particularly in managing citations and references in accordance with academic standards. However, many students still face difficulties in producing consistent and accurate citations due to limited understanding and lack of utilization of supporting technologies. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of Management students at Universitas Negeri Makassar (Class of 2023) in using Mendeley as a reference management tool. The training was conducted online via Zoom using lecture, demonstration, and hands-on training methods. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ understanding of citation concepts and reference management, as well as their practical ability to use Mendeley for automatic citation and bibliography generation. Furthermore, the interactive online training approach proved to be effective in enhancing participant engagement and learning outcomes. This activity contributes to improving students’ academic literacy and supports the development of higher-quality scientific writing in accordance with academic standards.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah masih menjadi isu utama di berbagai kampung perkotaan, termasuk di Kampung Karangpilang Gg. Glatik, Surabaya. Pembuangan sampah yang tidak terjadwal sering menyebabkan penumpukan di pinggir jalan dan selokan, sehingga menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan serta berpotensi mengganggu kesehatan masyarakat. Kondisi ini dipengaruhi oleh rendahnya kesadaran warga, keterbatasan sarana, serta belum adanya sistem pengelolaan yang terorganisir secara konsisten. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan melibatkan masyarakat dalam tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Program dilaksanakan melalui sosialisasi, penetapan jadwal pembuangan, pemilahan sampah, pengangkutan ke tempat pembuangan akhir, serta kegiatan kerja bakti dan monitoring rutin. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kedisiplinan masyarakat, berkurangnya sampah berceceran, serta meningkatnya partisipasi warga dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan. Dengan demikian, penerapan sistem pembuangan sampah terjadwal terbukti efektif dalam menciptakan lingkungan kampung yang bersih, sehat, dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of poultry farm workers regarding salmonellosis through health education and sanitation innovation. The activity was conducted at an Indi Telur poultry farm in Tasikmalaya involving 30 workers. The method used was Communication, Information, and Education (CIE) through lectures supported by poster media and the implementation of a sanitation corner. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test instruments to measure participants’ knowledge levels. The results showed that 23 participants (76.7%) experienced an increase in knowledge, while 7 participants (23.3%) had unchanged scores, with no decrease observed. Statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test indicated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (t = -10.933; p-value = 0.001). These findings indicate that the educational intervention was effective in improving participants’ understanding of salmonellosis. The integration of lecture methods with visual media and practical sanitation facilities can serve as an effective strategy in promoting occupational health behavior among poultry farm workers.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the digital literacy of retired customers at PT Bank Mandiri Taspen Kendari Branch through educational socialization and direct mentoring related to digital banking services. The main problem identified was the limited digital understanding and skills of retired customers in using banking applications such as ANDAL by Taspen, ASABRI, and MOVIN, resulting in most customers still depending on face-to-face services. The methods used included educational socialization and direct practical mentoring conducted over three months at PT Bank Mandiri Taspen Kendari Branch within the framework of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. The results showed an improvement in the understanding and confidence of retired customers in using digital banking services. Retired customers who previously relied entirely on face-to-face services began to demonstrate ability and independence in operating digital banking applications. The synergy between technology, data, and services realized through the Business Support role proved effective in supporting the optimization of digital services for retired customers. This activity makes a real contribution to improving the quality of banking services and strengthening the digital literacy of elderly groups in the banking environment.

Abstract

Sektor informal seperti industri pengrajin cobek kayu di Kecamatan Tamansari, Kota Tasikmalaya, memiliki risiko kecelakaan dan penyakit akibat kerja yang tinggi, terutama dari paparan debu kayu dan bahaya mekanis peralatan. Namun, hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kesadaran dan kepatuhan pekerja dalam menggunakan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) masih sangat rendah akibat minimnya pengetahuan terkait Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran pekerja mengenai pentingnya penggunaan APD melalui pendekatan Komunikasi, Informasi, dan Edukasi (KIE). Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pemberian sosialisasi dengan metode ceramah menggunakan bantuan media visual berupa poster, serta penempelan poster di area kerja. Evaluasi kegiatan diukur menggunakan desain one-group pre-test post-test yang diberikan kepada 20 orang pekerja. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test memperoleh nilai p-value sebesar 0,031 (p < 0,05), yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan dan peningkatan pengetahuan secara signifikan pada pekerja setelah diberikan edukasi. Kesimpulannya, intervensi edukasi K3 menggunakan media poster terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman pekerja cobek kayu terkait pentingnya APD, yang diharapkan dapat menekan angka risiko kecelakaan kerja pada sektor informal.
