Abstract

Religious leaders (read: NU leaders) in Situbondo have strong political access in parliamentary politics and local government. This is due to the political parties that won the election being based on Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as their constituents, such as PKB, PKNU, and PPP. However, this dominance has begun to fade and fragment into several parties not solely based on pesantren, such as Demokrat, Golkar, and even PDI-P. Pemimpin agama (baca: tokoh NU) di Situbondo memiliki akses politik yang kuat dalam politik parlemen dan pemerintahan daerah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh partai-partai yang menang dalam pemilihan umum berbasis pesantren sebagai konstituen, seperti PKB, PKNU, dan PPP. Namun, dominasi tersebut mulai memudar dan terfragmentasi ke beberapa partai yang tidak hanya berbasis pesantren, seperti Demokrat, Golkar, bahkan PDI-P.

Abstract

The Sufi perspective provides a clear lens to examine the discourse of religious pluralism. Sufi religious views encompass two aspects: the exoteric and the esoteric. The exoteric aspect of religion is the outward dimension, emphasizing sharia, forms, and religious symbols. Meanwhile, the esoteric aspect is the innermost dimension of every religion, focusing on inner, spiritual experiences to attain the ultimate reality, God. Sufi scholars in Jember emphasize inner experiences, as the purpose of religion is to reach God through such experiences, without neglecting sharia, which serves as the path to this goal. However, these Sufi scholars avoid debating sharia, as it pertains to methodology. Their rationale is that, fundamentally, all religions—regardless of form or type—aim to face the Divine. The error and deviation, according to Sufi scholars, lie in directing religion toward anything other than Allah. Perspektif Sufi mampu melihat secara jelas wacana pluralisme agama. Perspektif agama Sufi memandang dua aspek, yaitu aspek eksoterik dan esoterik. Aspek eksoterik agama adalah aspek lahiriah yang menekankan pada syariah, bentuk, dan simbol-simbol agama. Sementara aspek esoterik adalah aspek terdalam dalam setiap agama, yang menekankan pengalaman batin dan spiritual dalam mencapai realitas sejati, yaitu Tuhan. Ulama Sufi di Jember memberikan perhatian pada pengalaman batin, karena tujuan agama adalah mencapai Tuhan melalui pengalaman batin, namun tidak mengesampingkan syariah, sebab syariah adalah jalan untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut. Namun, ulama Sufi Jember tidak memperdebatkan wilayah syariah karena hal itu berkaitan dengan metode. Alasan pandangan ulama Sufi ini adalah bahwa pada dasarnya semua agama, terlepas dari bentuk dan jenisnya, bertujuan untuk menghadap Yang Ilahi. Kesalahan dan penyimpangan menurut ulama Sufi adalah ketika agama tidak ditujukan untuk selain Allah.

Abstract

The strength of mass media is determined by the quality of news. The quality of news is influenced by the news value set by the mass media. Similarly, the strength of local mass media depends on the news value used in constructing the news. Moreover, news construction serves as a stake for the media in providing market appeal. Some elements of news value, such as freshness, uniqueness, drama, actuality, proximity, magnitude, controversy, figures, exclusivity, and mission, become standards in judging whether an event is worth reporting. Journalists, editors, managing editors, and editors-in-chief have their own styles in applying news value in news construction. Based on this study, it is concluded that: reporters, editors, managing editors, and editors-in-chief of Radar Jember apply the news value taken from Java Pos as the main media, referred to as the "pillars of faith." Furthermore, in constructing news, all elements of news value are considered to determine the story's appeal. However, in certain journalistic practices, not all elements of news value are taken into account in determining the suitability of news. Kekuatan media massa ditentukan oleh kualitas berita. Kualitas berita dipengaruhi oleh nilai berita (news value) yang ditetapkan oleh media massa. Demikian pula, kekuatan media massa lokal bergantung pada nilai berita yang digunakan dalam mengonstruksi berita. Selain itu, konstruksi berita menjadi modal bagi media dalam menyediakan daya tarik pasar. Beberapa unsur nilai berita seperti baru, unik, dramatik, aktual, kedekatan (proximity), besar (magnitude), kontroversi, tokoh, eksklusif, dan misi menjadi standar dalam menilai suatu peristiwa atau kejadian yang akan dilaporkan. Wartawan, redaktur, redaktur pelaksana, dan pemimpin redaksi memiliki gaya masing-masing dalam menerapkan nilai berita dalam konstruksi berita. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, disimpulkan bahwa: wartawan, redaktur, redaktur pelaksana, dan pemimpin redaksi Radar Jember menerapkan nilai berita yang diambil dari Jawa Pos sebagai media utama dan disebut sebagai "rukun iman". Selain itu, dalam mengonstruksi berita, semua unsur nilai berita menjadi pertimbangan untuk menentukan ketertarikan suatu cerita. Namun, dalam praktik jurnalistik tertentu, tidak semua unsur nilai berita dijadikan pertimbangan dalam menentukan kelayakan berita.

Abstract

STAIN Jember provides an English Program for Islamic Studies to first-semester students. This program is managed by the Language Unit (UPB) of STAIN Jember with 0 credit points, where students can learn the four basic English skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing, as well as three fundamental components: Vocabulary, Pronunciation, and English Grammar. This research is evaluative in nature. Using research instruments such as interviews with Intensive English lecturers and administrative staff, student questionnaires, and documentation of student entrance exam scores, the researcher aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the English Program for Islamic Studies. STAIN Jember memberikan Program Bahasa Inggris dalam Pembelajaran Islam kepada mahasiswa yang berada pada semester pertama. Program tersebut dikelola oleh UPB (Unit Pusat Bahasa) STAIN Jember dengan memiliki 0 kredit, di mana mahasiswa dapat belajar tentang empat keterampilan dasar bahasa Inggris: Mendengarkan, Berbicara, Membaca, dan Menulis, serta tiga komponen dasar, yaitu: Kosakata, Pengucapan, dan Tata Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian evaluatif. Dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian yang meliputi: wawancara dengan dosen pengajar Bahasa Inggris Intensif dan staf administrasi, angket kepada mahasiswa, dan dokumentasi nilai ujian masuk mahasiswa, peneliti mencoba untuk mengetahui keefektifan dari Program Bahasa Inggris dalam Pembelajaran Islam.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education is an education aimed at forming a complete Muslim personality, developing human potential both physically and spiritually, and strengthening harmonious relationships between humans, Allah, and the universe. This aligns with the national education goals formulated in Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, which aims to develop students' potential to become individuals who are faithful and pious to God Almighty, noble, healthy, knowledgeable, skilled, creative, independent, and responsible democratic citizens. However, these noble goals have not been fully implemented optimally in educational units. Therefore, the University of Jember, as one of the public universities that includes Islamic Religious Education as a compulsory general course for Muslim students, must be able to optimize Islamic Religious Education learning to realize these objectives. This research aims to analyze the efforts made by Islamic Religious Education lecturers at the University of Jember to foster students who are faithful, pious, noble, and responsible. The study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods including interviews, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that optimizing Islamic Religious Education learning requires comprehensive innovation and approaches, including additional lecture hours and supporting extracurricular activities. Pendidikan Agama Islam adalah pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk membentuk pribadi muslim seutuhnya, mengembangkan seluruh potensi manusia baik jasmaniah maupun rohaniah, serta memperkuat hubungan harmonis antara manusia dengan Allah, sesama manusia, dan alam semesta. Hal ini sejalan dengan tujuan pendidikan nasional yang dirumuskan dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 20 Tahun 2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional, yaitu mengembangkan potensi peserta didik agar menjadi manusia yang beriman dan bertakwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, berakhlak mulia, sehat, berilmu, cakap, kreatif, mandiri, dan menjadi warga negara yang demokratis serta bertanggung jawab. Namun, tujuan mulia ini belum sepenuhnya diimplementasikan secara optimal di satuan pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, Universitas Jember sebagai salah satu perguruan tinggi negeri yang menempatkan mata kuliah Pendidikan Agama Islam sebagai mata kuliah umum wajib bagi mahasiswa Muslim, harus mampu mengoptimalkan pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam agar tujuan pembelajaran tersebut dapat terwujud. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis upaya yang dilakukan oleh dosen Pendidikan Agama Islam di Universitas Jember dalam mewujudkan mahasiswa yang beriman, bertakwa, berakhlak mulia, dan bertanggung jawab. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa optimalisasi pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam memerlukan inovasi dan pendekatan yang menyeluruh, termasuk penambahan jam perkuliahan dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang mendukung.

Abstract

This research studies the empirical phenomenon of Rural Banks (BPR) in Jember Regency, entitled the effect of financial risk on third-party funds. The purpose of the research is to investigate the effect of financial risk (liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and credit risk), both partially and simultaneously, on third-party funds. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to describe the condition of research variables in the sample companies with SPSS. The results indicate that liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and credit risk do not have a partial effect on third-party funds. Furthermore, these three financial risks also do not have a simultaneous effect on third-party funds. Penelitian ini mengkaji fenomena empiris pada Bank Perkreditan Rakyat (BPR) di Kabupaten Jember, dengan judul pengaruh risiko keuangan terhadap dana pihak ketiga. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh risiko keuangan (risiko likuiditas, risiko tingkat bunga, dan risiko kredit) secara parsial dan simultan terhadap dana pihak ketiga. Analisis data dilakukan dengan statistik deskriptif untuk menggambarkan kondisi variabel penelitian pada sampel perusahaan menggunakan SPSS. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa risiko likuiditas, risiko tingkat bunga, dan risiko kredit secara parsial tidak berpengaruh terhadap dana pihak ketiga. Selain itu, ketiga risiko keuangan tersebut juga tidak berpengaruh secara simultan terhadap dana pihak ketiga.

Abstract

This research was conducted to improve students' reading skills using the jigsaw technique. Reading skills, especially in English, are crucial to master as they enhance knowledge acquisition. Additionally, this technique supports students in comprehending English literature. The conclusion of this study is that the jigsaw technique can improve students' reading skills by dividing them into groups of five members, where each member becomes an expert in their group to convey the content of the text. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam keterampilan membaca dengan menggunakan teknik jigsaw. Keterampilan membaca, khususnya dalam bahasa Inggris, sangat penting untuk dikuasai karena dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mereka. Selain itu, teknik ini mendukung mereka dalam memahami literatur berbahasa Inggris. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah teknik jigsaw dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam keterampilan membaca dengan cara membagi mahasiswa ke dalam beberapa kelompok yang terdiri dari 5 anggota, di mana setiap anggotanya menjadi tim ahli bagi kelompoknya untuk menyampaikan isi teks.

Abstract

Education is a continuing process of the students’ body and soul development. A teacher needs to understand the children’s development to achieve educational purposes optimally. Islam divides children's development into two periods: the prenatal period and the after-natal period. This research focuses on the after-natal period, with the results being descriptive data analyzed using a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that human beings possess a fitrah (innate nature) that needs to be developed, including the fitrah of faith in Allah, the willingness to accept goodness and education, curiosity about the truth, biological desires in the form of syahwat and ghadlab (instinct), and other potentials inherent in every individual. Pendidikan merupakan proses berkelanjutan dalam pengembangan jasmani dan rohani anak didik. Seorang pendidik perlu memahami perkembangan anak agar dapat mencapai tujuan pendidikan secara optimal. Islam membagi periode perkembangan anak menjadi dua, yaitu periode sebelum kelahiran (prenatal) dan setelah kelahiran (after-natal). Penelitian ini berfokus pada periode setelah kelahiran dengan hasil berupa data deskriptif yang dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manusia memiliki fitrah yang perlu dikembangkan, meliputi fitrah keimanan kepada Allah, kesediaan menerima kebaikan dan pendidikan, rasa ingin tahu terhadap kebenaran, dorongan biologis berupa syahwat dan ghadlab (insting), serta potensi lain yang dimiliki setiap manusia.

Abstract

Madrasah Aliyah, as a formal educational institution, plays a significant role in developing religious material, especially Arabic language material. However, Madrasah Aliyah is considered to have failed in achieving the goals of Arabic language teaching and learning. This is evidenced by the inability of STAIN Jember students to learn Arabic effectively. This research examines the differences in the managerial system of the Arabic curriculum between two institutions, namely MA Darussholah and MAN Jember 1. The results show that the Arabic curriculum at MA Darussholah is implemented in the aspects of planning, implementation, evaluation, and general development, with a focus on improving students' ability to read the Holy Book. Meanwhile, MAN Jember 1 also focuses on reading improvement, but its implementation is not supported by adequate meeting hours. Madrasah Aliyah sebagai lembaga pendidikan formal memiliki peran besar dalam pengembangan materi keagamaan, khususnya materi Bahasa Arab. Namun, Madrasah Aliyah dinilai gagal dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran Bahasa Arab. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan ketidakmampuan mahasiswa STAIN Jember dalam mempelajari Bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini mengkaji perbedaan sistem manajemen kurikulum Bahasa Arab di dua lembaga, yaitu MA Darussholah dan MAN Jember 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum Bahasa Arab di MA Darussholah dilaksanakan dalam aspek perencanaan, implementasi, evaluasi, dan pengembangan umum yang berfokus pada peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca kitab suci. Sementara itu, MAN Jember 1 juga berfokus pada peningkatan kemampuan membaca, tetapi implementasinya tidak didukung oleh jumlah jam pertemuan yang memadai.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the reading ability of first-year students at SMA Negeri 1 Jember by implementing the SQ3R technique, particularly in narrative texts. To achieve this goal, classroom action research was conducted in collaboration with the first-year English teacher, following several stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was implemented in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four meetings. The SQ3R technique comprises five steps: survey, question, read, recite, and review. The survey and question steps were implemented in pre-learning, the reading step in whilst-learning, and the recite and review steps in post-learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas satu SMA Negeri 1 Jember dengan mengimplementasikan teknik SQ3R terutama dalam teks narasi. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian tindakan kelas berkolaborasi dengan guru bahasa Inggris kelas satu dengan mengikuti beberapa tahapan: perencanaan, implementasi, observasi, dan refleksi. Penelitian diimplementasikan dalam dua siklus, di mana setiap siklus mencakup empat pertemuan. Teknik SQ3R terdiri dari lima tahapan: survey, question, read, recite, dan review. Tahap survey dan question diimplementasikan di pre-learning, tahap membaca diimplementasikan di whilst-learning, sedangkan recite dan review diimplementasikan di post-learning.
