Abstract

This research aims to answer the following questions: What are the factors causing the dichotomy problem in Islamic education, and what are the solutions based on Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi's thought? To what extent can the Islamization of knowledge serve as a solution principle to address the dichotomy problem in Islamic education according to Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi? This study is a library research focusing on al-Faruqi's thought, utilizing primary and secondary sources. The analytical descriptive method is employed to describe, record, analyze, and interpret existing conditions. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjawab pertanyaan: Apa faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan problem dikotomi pendidikan Islam dan apa solusi untuk mengatasinya berdasarkan pemikiran Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi? Sejauh mana Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan dapat menjadi prinsip solusi untuk memecahkan problem dikotomi pendidikan Islam berdasarkan pemikiran Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi? Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tentang pemikiran Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research), di mana bahan-bahan yang digunakan diperoleh dari data-data kepustakaan, baik sumber primer maupun sekunder. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analitis, yaitu penelitian yang berusaha mendeskripsikan, mencatat, menganalisis, dan menginterpretasikan kondisi-kondisi yang ada.

Abstract

This research examines the interpretation of religious pluralism in the debate between the Liberal Islam Network (JIL) and the Institute for The Study of Islamic Thought and Civilization (INSISTS). The results indicate that JIL constructs its arguments in favor of religious pluralism based on four Quranic arguments, while INSISTS opposes religious pluralism with two Quranic arguments. JIL employs the Ushul Fiqh approach in interpreting pluralism verses, whereas INSISTS uses a contextual approach—both textual and historical. However, the inclusive view of JIL and the exclusive view of INSISTS each have their own implications. Penelitian ini membahas penafsiran pluralisme agama dalam perdebatan antara Jaringan Islam Liberal (JIL) dan Institute for The Study of Islamic Thought and Civilization (INSISTS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa JIL membangun argumen mereka untuk mendukung pluralisme agama berdasarkan empat argumen quranik, sementara INSISTS menolak pluralisme agama dengan dua argumen quranik. JIL menggunakan pendekatan Ushul Fiqh dalam menafsirkan ayat-ayat pluralisme, sedangkan INSISTS menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual—baik konteks teks maupun historis. Namun, pandangan inklusif JIL dan eksklusif INSISTS memiliki implikasi masing-masing.

Abstract

Today, the escalation of conflicts in the name of religion is growing, even though Indonesia is referenced by the international community as a multicultural and plural nation that has long been able to build a harmonious society with a relatively high level of tolerance. To achieve the realization of a harmonious society, many forums and dialogues have been conducted to minimize religious conflicts. The fundamental question remains: despite the dialogues and numerous forums, why can the issue of inter-religious conflicts not be stopped? This issue requires special thought, such as the approach to dialogue, whether the current model or method is no longer adequate, whether the discussed material is not quite right, and what paradigm can be used to build an adequate dialogue to resolve conflicts. A temporary assumption suggests that the cause of the conflict is the emergence of religious truth claims made by some Muslims, supported by certain religious institutions based on interpretations of normative texts, namely the Quran and Hadith. Saat ini, eskalasi konflik atas nama agama semakin meningkat, padahal Indonesia dikenal oleh masyarakat internasional sebagai negara yang multikultural dan plural, serta telah lama mampu membangun masyarakat yang harmonis dengan tingkat toleransi yang cukup tinggi. Untuk mewujudkan masyarakat yang harmonis, banyak forum dan dialog telah dilakukan untuk meminimalisir konflik agama. Namun, pertanyaan mendasar adalah mengapa meskipun dialog telah dilakukan dan banyak forum telah dibentuk, isu konflik antar agama masih belum bisa dihentikan. Persoalan ini memerlukan pemikiran khusus, seperti pendekatan dialog yang digunakan, apakah model atau metode dialog yang ada sudah tidak memadai, ataukah materi yang dibahas kurang tepat, serta paradigma apa yang dapat digunakan untuk membangun dialog yang memadai guna menyelesaikan konflik. Asumsi sementara menunjukkan bahwa penyebab konflik adalah munculnya klaim kebenaran agama (truth claims) yang dilakukan oleh sebagian umat Islam, didukung oleh lembaga keagamaan tertentu berdasarkan penafsiran terhadap teks normatif, yaitu Al-Qur'an dan Al-Hadits.

Abstract

The results of the research revealed that: 1) most of the students are satisfied with the academic services of STAIN Jember (45.92%). However, 33.67% of the students state their dissatisfaction, 2) there are significant simultaneous and partial influences of the variables reliability, responsiveness, empathy, assurance, and tangible on student satisfaction with STAIN Jember’s academic services, and 3) the variable that has the dominant influence is the reliability variable. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa: 1) sebagian besar mahasiswa puas dengan layanan akademik STAIN Jember (45,92%). Namun, 33,67% mahasiswa menyatakan ketidakpuasan, 2) terdapat pengaruh signifikan secara simultan dan parsial dari variabel reliabilitas, responsivitas, empati, jaminan, dan bukti fisik terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa atas layanan akademik STAIN Jember, dan 3) variabel yang memberikan pengaruh dominan adalah variabel reliabilitas.

Abstract

Although various measures of reform and development models for Islamic education have been initiated, these efforts have not yet fully achieved the expected goals. Empirically, the implementation of Islamic education in various educational units has not significantly impacted students' behavioral changes, even though one of its primary objectives is to transform their way of thinking, feeling, and worldview. The rise in moral decadence and undesirable behaviors such as violence, conflict, exclusivism, and weak tolerance and respect for others among school children indicates the ineffectiveness of current Islamic education models and functions. In response to these phenomena, the development of a multicultural Islamic education model is deemed essential, focusing on respect for diversity, pedagogical equality, and the elimination of discrimination to build a just, tolerant, democratic, humane, inclusive, and harmonious society regardless of ethnic, social, religious, or gender backgrounds. This study focuses on: (1) The concept of multicultural Islamic education development, (2) Its prescriptive and empirical foundations, (3) Opportunities and challenges in its development, and (4) Development based on human resource management. Meskipun telah dirintis berbagai langkah reformasi dan model pengembangan pendidikan Islam, upaya tersebut hingga kini belum sepenuhnya mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan. Pada ranah empiris, implementasi pendidikan Islam di berbagai unit pendidikan belum banyak memberikan implikasi signifikan terhadap perubahan perilaku peserta didik, padahal salah satu tujuan utama pendidikan Islam adalah perubahan pola pikir (way of thinking), perasaan (way of feeling), dan pandangan hidup (way of life) pada peserta didik. Fenomena meningkatnya dekadensi moral dan perilaku tidak terpuji seperti kekerasan, konflik, eksklusivisme, serta lemahnya toleransi dan penghargaan terhadap orang lain yang melibatkan anak sekolah menjadi indikator nyata ketidakefektifan model dan fungsi pendidikan Islam selama ini. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, pengembangan model pendidikan Islam multikultural dinilai penting untuk memfokuskan pada penghormatan terhadap keragaman, pengakuan kesetaraan pedagogis, serta penghapusan diskriminasi guna membangun masyarakat yang adil, toleran, demokratis, humanis, inklusif, dan harmonis tanpa memandang latar belakang etnik, status sosial, agama, atau jenis kelamin. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada: (1) Konsep pengembangan pendidikan Islam multikultural, (2) Landasan preskriptif dan empirik pengembangannya, (3) Peluang dan tantangan pengembangan, serta (4) Pengembangan berbasis manajemen sumber daya manusia.

Abstract

In this study, the researcher observes two portals which are assumed to represent dominant ideology for Indonesian Muslims, namely http://www.nu.or.id and http://www.muhammadiyah.or.id. The researcher examines the portrait or description of both portals in the eyes of global search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Master, Bing, and others. By using descriptive qualitative research, this Search Engine Analysis of NU and Muhammadiyah Portal Portraits reveals that both portals are placed in a decent position, namely the first rank, as categorized for them. This indicates that both portals are accepted and favored by hundreds of millions of internet users, as shown by the high number of visitors accessing both portals. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti mengamati dua portal yang diasumsikan mewakili ideologi dominan bagi Muslim Indonesia, yaitu http://www.nu.or.id dan http://www.muhammadiyah.or.id. Peneliti menemukan bagaimana potret atau deskripsi kedua portal tersebut dalam pandangan mesin pencari dunia seperti Google, Yahoo, Master, Bing, dan lainnya. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, Analisis Mesin Pencari terhadap Potret Portal NU dan Muhammadiyah ini menghasilkan temuan bahwa kedua portal menempati posisi yang layak, yaitu peringkat pertama, sesuai dengan kategori yang ditetapkan bagi mereka. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua portal diterima dan disukai oleh ratusan juta pengguna internet, yang ditunjukkan oleh tingginya jumlah pengakses kedua portal tersebut.

Abstract

Kindergarten-aged children are in a sensitive period for personality development. During this time, several personalities begin to form, and the differences in each child's personality become more apparent. Abilities that develop rapidly during this period include physical and language skills. To enhance vocabulary mastery in kindergarten-aged children, several related factors include cultural and family background, family living standards, parental education levels, and family location. Other factors associated with vocabulary acquisition in children include mother-child interaction, storytelling activities, and imitation (mimesis). Television watching activities are considered highly influential on the number of vocabulary acquisitions in kindergarten-aged children. This means that the more children watch television, the more vocabulary they acquire. Television programs can positively impact vocabulary acquisition in kindergarten-aged children. Through television, children can learn and imitate new words. Anak usia taman kanak-kanak (TK) merupakan masa peka bagi perkembangan kepribadian anak. Pada masa ini, beberapa kepribadian mulai terbentuk, dan perbedaan kepribadian setiap anak semakin jelas terlihat. Kemampuan yang terbentuk dan berkembang pesat pada masa ini meliputi perkembangan fisik dan kemampuan berbahasa. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan penguasaan perbendaharaan kata pada anak usia TK, beberapa faktor yang terkait antara lain latar belakang budaya dan keluarga, taraf hidup keluarga, tingkat pendidikan keluarga, serta lokasi keluarga. Faktor lain yang juga berhubungan dengan pemerolehan perbendaharaan kata pada anak meliputi interaksi ibu dan anak, aktivitas mendengarkan cerita, dan faktor imitasi (mimesis). Aktivitas menonton televisi dianggap sangat berpengaruh terhadap jumlah perbendaharaan kata yang dikuasai anak usia TK. Artinya, semakin sering anak menonton televisi, semakin banyak perbendaharaan kata yang dimilikinya. Tayangan televisi dapat memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap pemerolehan perbendaharaan kata anak usia TK. Melalui televisi, anak dapat memperoleh dan meniru kata-kata baru.

Abstract

The efforts of BAZ and LAZ to encourage zakat payers to disburse their funds require creativity and innovation in management policies, especially to become policies considered as best practices. Therefore, policies deemed as best practices need to be taken, analyzed, and evaluated to serve as benchmarking. Currently, searching for best practices policies of an institution is a necessity, including in zakat management. BAZ Lumajang Regency has shown the highest fund graph in East Java for several years, even though this region does not have a constitutional instrument in the form of a Zakat Regional Regulation. Moreover, Lumajang's demography is not unique in terms of Islamic atmosphere compared to other regions in East Java. From this illustration, it can be concluded that there are best practices policies at BAZ Lumajang Regency, so that zakat management benchmarking from BAZ Lumajang Regency can be expected. Upaya BAZ dan LAZ dalam mendorong wajib zakat untuk menyalurkan dananya membutuhkan kreativitas dan inovasi dalam kebijakan manajemen, terutama untuk menjadi kebijakan yang dianggap sebagai best practices. Oleh karena itu, kebijakan yang dinilai sebagai best practices perlu diambil, dianalisis, dan dievaluasi untuk dijadikan benchmarking. Saat ini, pencarian kebijakan best practices suatu institusi menjadi suatu keharusan, termasuk dalam pengelolaan zakat. BAZ Kabupaten Lumajang telah menunjukkan grafik dana tertinggi di Jawa Timur selama beberapa tahun, meskipun daerah ini tidak memiliki instrumen konstitusi berupa PERDA Zakat. Selain itu, demografi Lumajang tidak unik dalam hal atmosfer keislaman dibandingkan daerah lain di Jawa Timur. Dari gambaran ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kebijakan best practices di BAZ Kabupaten Lumajang, sehingga dapat diharapkan adanya benchmarking manajemen zakat dari BAZ Kabupaten Lumajang.

Abstract

Every religion in this world advocates peace and goodness for humankind. However, every religion also demands a fanatical attitude from its adherents, which gives rise to exclusive followers. This seems paradoxical to the mutual respect among followers of different religions. In this context, religion appears to have two faces: sometimes as a destroyer, yet also as a unifier of humanity. Setiap agama di dunia ini menyerukan kedamaian dan kebaikan bagi umat manusia. Namun, setiap agama juga menuntut sikap fanatik dari para pemeluknya, yang kemudian melahirkan pengikut yang eksklusif. Hal ini seolah menjadi paradoks dengan sikap saling menghormati antar pemeluk agama yang berbeda. Dalam konteks ini, agama seakan memiliki dua wajah: kadang sebagai penghancur, sekaligus pemersatu umat manusia.

Abstract

The government's effort to produce high-quality and competent human resources is closely tied to the role of professional teachers. In this study, the researcher aims to examine the differences in professional competence between certified and non-certified teachers, formulated as follows: (1) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in subject mastery related to professional competence; (2) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in the teaching process related to professional competence; (3) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in interpersonal relationships related to professional competence; (4) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in classroom-based assessment related to professional competence. This research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Islamic Boarding School in Kaliwates-Jember. Data analysis reveals that: (1) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in subject mastery; (2) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in the teaching process; (3) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in interpersonal relationships; (4) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in classroom-based assessment. Upaya pemerintah yang berorientasi pada menghasilkan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas dan kompeten tidak lepas dari peran guru profesional. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui perbedaan kompetensi profesional antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi, yang kemudian dirumuskan sebagai berikut: (1) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam penguasaan materi terhadap kompetensi profesional; (2) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam proses pembelajaran terhadap kompetensi profesional; (3) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam hubungan interpersonal terhadap kompetensi profesional; (4) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam penilaian berbasis kelas terhadap kompetensi profesional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Kaliwates-Jember.
