Dawatuna: Journal of Communication and Islamic Broadcasting  is a peer-reviewed national journal on communication, dakwah, broadcasting, education and Islamic studies managed by Institut Agama Islam Nasional (IAI-N) Laa Roiba Bogor in cooperation with Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah (MES) and Intelectual Association for Islamic Studies (IAFORIS) .  This journal focused on communication, dakwah, broadcasting, education, and Islamic studies  through the publication of articles, research reports, and book reviews. The Journal is published The Journal is published four time a year on January, April, July,  and October. The aim of the journal is to disseminate the communication, dakwah, broadcasting, and Islamic studies researches done by researchers. Specifically, the journal will deal with topics, including but not limited to: Broadcasting, Communication, Dakwah & Islamic propagation, Islamic education,  Islamic studies, Islamic education, and other related issues. Abstract

Penjualan merupakan suatu kegiatan ataupun usaha konkret yang dilakukan oleh seorang penjual untuk memindahkan barang atau jasa yang dimilikinya kepada konsumen dengan tujuan mendapatkan laba ataupun keuntungan, dalam melakukan penjualan para pengiat pun harus mengikuti perkembangan zaman agar usaha yang dilakukannya dapat bertahan dengan salah satu caranya yaitu melakukan peramalan ataupun prediksi terhadap barang yang dijualnya. Penerapan Algoritma K-Nearst Neihbor Regression banyak digunakan untuk proses data mining dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan hasil prediksi ataupun peramalan terhadap produk yang dijual kedepannya. Proses dalam menggali informasi dari suatu data diterapkan dengan metode penelitian KDD (Knowledge Discovery Data) dan penerapan evaluation model data mining dengan menerapkan K-Fold Crossvalidation untuk menentukan nilai K yang akan digunakan untuk data mining. Dalam penelitian ini didapatkan keberhasilan algoritma K-Nearst Neighbor Regression dalam memprediksi data penjualan sebuah café yang bernama Berdikari Kopi kedepannya guna mengeffisiensikan stock barang yang dibelinya. Abstract

This research discusses intercultural public speaking ethics, which is a combination of public speaking ethics and intercultural communication ethics. The method used in this research is the library research method, in which researchers conduct research only on library collection materials related to intercultural public speaking ethics. The research results show that a public speaker is not only required to understand public speaking ethics but is also required to understand intercultural communication ethics so that public speakers can apply intercultural public speaking ethics. By applying intercultural public speaking ethics, public speaking with audiences of people from different cultural backgrounds can be effective. To apply intercultural public speaking ethics, public speakers must first learn the culture of their audience by first seeking information regarding what ethics are deemed permissible and not permissible. After studying the cultural ethics of the audience, the public speaker must enter that culture as if the public speaker is part of the members of that culture without leaving the public speaker's own cultural identity.

Abstract

The relationship between television media tvOne and Metro TV and politics is a dilemmatic one, this can give rise to the attitude of each media in reporting the 2024 presidential election. A reality in a political moment is never completely neutral from political interpretation or capital patronage. In this case, the media is expected to be a watchdog in an ideal democratic system, but this cannot be realized according to its expectations. The aim of this research is to find out what the hierarchy of influence is in the editorial policies of tvOne and Metro TV in reporting on the 2024 presidential election. And what the hierarchical comparison looks like influence in editorial policy on reporting on the 2024 presidential election on tvone and metro tv. The research method used is qualitative, with a case study approach. In this research, the paradigm used is the critical paradigm. Data sources come from in-depth observations, interviews with tvOne News Anchor, Metro TV Senior Journalist and Senior Producer, and documentation regarding the 2024 presidential election on the tvOne and Metro TV YouTube channels. Of the five levels, namely Individual Level, Routine Level, Organizational Level, Extra Media Level and Ideology Level. The significant influence of these five levels is the Ideology Level, at this level the values ​​that are firmly held by tvOne and Metro TV in their reporting, including reporting on the 2024 Presidential Election.

Abstract

Achieving quality education and raising the Human Development Index (HDI) both depend heavily on education. When compared to other regions of West Java, Karawang Regency often has a low Human Development Index (HDI). As specified in Karawang Regent Regulation Number 45 of 2022 concerning the Karawang Cerdas Program, the Karawang Regency Government subsequently introduced a policy for education expense support in the form of the Karawang Cerdas scholarship program. The program's administration, including socialization, falls under the purview of the People's Welfare Section of the Karawang Regency Regional Secretariat. Finding, evaluating, and summarizing the social welfare communication approach used to promote the Karawang Cerdas Program is the goal of this study.This study is descriptive by design and employs a qualitative method using a qualitative approach. The results of the research demonstrate that the Karawang Cerdas Program is the communicator (who) in the Social Welfare communication strategy, along with Welfare, SKPD, and educational units; the communicants (to whom) are all societal levels; the media (in which channels) are direct media, print, social, and news; and the effect (with what effect) of the high number of registrants and the presence of extortion officers.

Abstract

In the context of Street Children Schools, communication is not only between parents and children but also involves interactions between children and tutors. This study aims to identify the communication patterns used by tutors with street children at the Alternative Street Children School (SAAJA) and the challenges encountered. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, data were collected through interviews and observations. Purposive sampling was employed to select informants, focusing on the Alternative Street Children School Foundation, Tutors Mrs. Nunung and Mrs. Iin, and the street children of SAAJA. Both primary and secondary data sources were utilized. Data analysis followed three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The study found that the wheel and star communication patterns are used by tutors at SAAJA, proving effective in the teaching process through two-way communication. Challenges faced by SAAJA include issues with teaching staff and the students' external environment. Overall, the study concludes that there is positive feedback and effective daily communication between tutors and street children during the learning process, with well-established communication patterns.

Abstract

This research aims to understand how the implementation by the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) enhances the quality of public services. The government plays a crucial role and bears responsibility in various state aspects, one of which is information and communication. Therefore, Government Public Relations is vital as a communication bridge between the government and the public, aiming to provide clear, transparent, and accurate information to the community. The research employs qualitative methods with purposive sampling techniques, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. This study applies the data analysis techniques popularized by Miles and Huberman (1984) and relates them to Edward III's theory, which analyzes four elements: communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure in policy implementation. The validity technique used in this research is source triangulation with the subjects being three informants related to the study. The results indicate that the PPID of Kemenko Marves has successfully improved the quality of public services and enhanced the government's image.

Abstract

Persuasive communication is a strategy employed to convince and influence others to accept a message without imposing pressure, while still allowing them the freedom to either accept or reject it.In 2023, a medical-themed series titled "Daily Dose of Sunshine" was released, addressing mental health issues. Such series play a vital role in raising awareness and understanding of these issues among the public. This research aims to examine the persuasive communication used by doctors and nurses towards patients regarding mental health awareness in "Daily Dose of Sunshine." The qualitative analysis employs Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic method, focusing on signifiers and signifieds. Data comprise dialogue excerpts and images from the series. Results reveal persuasive communication techniques such as framing, integration, payoff, and fear arousing, predominantly conveyed through direct verbal communication. Supporting factors include the credibility and attractiveness of communicators. Feedback from persuadees indicates acceptance of persuasive messages, leading to increased openness and positive actions as advised by medical professionals.

Abstract

This study compares the responses of the Indonesian and South Korean presidents to man-made disasters and investigates the presence of shift-blaming in their speeches. Utilizing Rhetorical Analysis (RA) to examine how speeches are constructed to achieve specific objectives, and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to explore historical and social contexts, the study focuses on President Jokowi’s speeches following the Kanjuruhan tragedy and President Yoon’s speeches after the Itaewon disaster. RA delves into the rhetorical strategies, including invention, disposition, style, and delivery, to analyze how each president uses ethos, logos, and pathos to construct their messages. CDA further examines the discourse of shift-blaming characteristic of autocratic tendencies. The findings reveal differences in how each president addresses responsibility and accountability. While the trace of shift blaming is prominently evident in Jokowi’s speeches, Yoon’s speeches are characterized by a strong emphasis on image-saving. This comparative analysis provides insights into the distinct communication strategies employed by leaders in response to man-made disasters.

Abstract

This research aims to examine how the Instagram account @prabowo developed a strong character during the presidential era using character theory. A qualitative approach involving content analysis was used to evaluate the textual and visual elements in the analyzed Instagram posts. The findings of this study indicate that the main theme of the content is "strong leadership", which is conveyed through graphic and textual components. Textual elements, such as captions, highlight Prabowo's dedication to important issues such as national development and preventing corruption. The depiction of leadership integrity is achieved through the use of firm words and expressions. Analysis of visual elements shows that the use of beige and dark brown helps convey stability and trust. Prabowo is depicted as a patriotic leader who is close to the people, shown through backgrounds that display interactions with society and national symbols. Her confident and assertive demeanor, as well as her professional yet approachable demeanor, reduces feelings of peer pressure. Effective communication strategies involve emphasizing individuality, engagement with the community, incorporation of national symbols, and the use of striking imagery. This approach succeeds in building a strong and trustworthy image. This study highlights the important role of social media in political campaigns and the need for consistent textual and visual elements to convey key messages effectively. These findings are useful for social media practice, political campaign strategy, and political communication research.

Abstract

Brand knowledge plays a very important role in supporting a company's digital marketing efforts by building a positive image, increasing awareness, expanding online presence, building relationships with influential parties, managing crises, and increasing user engagement. vOffice is a virtual office space service provider in various locations in Indonesia. vOffice provides business solutions that include virtual office space rental, physical office space rental, and various other business support services, such as the availability of shared office services, there are various types of products to support the continuity of business activities such as office services, Event Space, Meeting Rooms, Legality Management services to virtual offices. This study aims to obtain information about the effect of tiktok social media content on understanding the brand knowledge of the Voffice Indonesia virtual office through tiktok social media. In this study, the theory used is the S-O-R theory (Stimulus- Organism-Response). S-O-R theory explains the process of how a stimulus produces a response. The most basic interaction occurs when individuals perform actions and receive responses from others The research method used is a quantitative approach with a survey method. This method comes from positivism, which emphasizes empirical experience instead of assumptions or logic. Based on his research objectives to be achieved, he found that the understanding of vOffice brand knowledge through TikTok social media has an influence of 86.6%. It can be concluded that the results of this study show that H0 is rejected and there is an effect of using the TikTok application has great potential as a marketing tool, especially in increasing purchase interest, brand awareness, and brand knowledge of consumers.
