Abstract

The decision to purchase halal products is crucial, particularly given its relationship to consumers' religious beliefs and personal values. This study aims to comprehensively examine the influence of halal labeling, product quality, price, and promotion on halal cosmetic purchasing decisions in Tulungagung Regency. Using an associative quantitative approach, data were collected from 140 respondents selected through accidental sampling and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that all independent variables simultaneously significantly influence purchasing decisions. Partially, halal labeling, product quality, and promotion have a positive and significant effect, while price shows no significant influence. These findings imply that companies should prioritize maintaining credible halal certification, improving product quality, and designing innovative promotional strategies to strengthen consumer trust and purchasing decisions. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on consumer behavior in the halal cosmetics sector at the regional level, particularly in emerging markets, thereby enriching the understanding of factors driving halal product consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of halal awareness, habits, and halal labels on purchasing decisions for Kahf products, with Religiosity as a moderating variable. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Data were collected through an online Google Form questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS. The results showed that Halal Awareness has a positive and significant influence on Purchasing Decisions for Kahf products. Habit also has a positive and significant effect on Purchasing Decisions. In addition, the Halal Label has a positive and significant influence on Purchasing Decisions for Kahf products in Sleman Regency. Religiosity serves as a moderating variable, strengthening the influence of Halal Awareness on Purchasing Decisions. However, Religiosity weakens the influence of Habit on Purchasing Decisions. In addition, Religiosity strengthens the Halal Label's influence on Purchasing Decisions for Kahf products. These findings enrich the development of the Theory of Planned Behavior in the context of halal product consumption by showing that Religiosity does not always strengthen the influence of behavioral determinants but, in certain contexts, can weaken the influence of habits. In practice, companies need to develop differentiated marketing strategies based on consumer religiosity, emphasizing halal education in the high-religiosity segment and habit formation in the low-religiosity segment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity on interest in consuming halal products, with e-commerce as a moderating variable, among students of the Sharia Economics Study Program at Mulawarman University. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research sample consisted of 80 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis used Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results showed that religiosity had a significant effect on interest in consuming halal products. In addition, e-commerce strengthened the influence of religiosity on interest in consuming halal products, as ease of access, halal product search features, and trust in digital platforms encouraged students to prefer halal products. Thus, it can be concluded that the combination of religious values and digital technology support is an important factor in shaping halal consumption.

Abstract

Quartet card-based learning media has emerged as a promising game-based approach for science and halal education, yet its application in halal science education remains insufficiently synthesized. This systematic literature review (SLR) followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines and reviewed 35 peer-reviewed articles (2021–2026) selected from 1,847 records across major academic databases. The synthesis identified five themes: educational card game design, learning effectiveness, halal literacy integration, student engagement, and media assessment. Findings indicate that quartet cards improve student engagement (mean effect size d = 0.71), halal conceptual understanding, and science process skills, particularly when integrated with inquiry-based learning and validated content. However, significant gaps remain, including limited longitudinal research, scarce studies in formal secondary-level halal science education (Tadris IPA), and the absence of standardized assessment instruments. This review proposes the Halal Science Game-Based Learning Framework (HS-GBLF) as a theoretical model integrating constructivist learning, game-based pedagogy, and halal literacy competencies.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the halal industry in promoting economic growth across the top 15 global countries listed in the State of the Global Islamic Economy Index (SGIEI). The research gap arises from inconsistencies in previous empirical findings on the contribution of each halal industry subsector to economic growth, as well as from the limited number of studies that integrate all major subsectors using recent data. A quantitative approach is employed using secondary panel data covering six halal industry subsectors: halal food, Islamic finance, Muslim-friendly tourism, modest fashion, halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and media and recreation, during the 2023–2024 period in the top 15 global economy countries. The data are obtained from the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIEI) and the World Bank. Panel data regression analysis is applied, with the Random Effect Model (REM) selected as the most appropriate estimation model. The findings indicate that the halal food and Muslim-friendly tourism subsectors have a positive and significant impact on economic growth. In contrast, the other halal industry subsectors do not demonstrate a statistically significant effect.

Abstract

Halal Tourism has become one of the rapidly growing trends in the global tourism industry. In this digital era, social media plays a crucial role in promotion. This article analyzes YouTube and TikTok users’ responses to Halal Tourism branding in Banyuwangi in 2024, examining views, likes, comments, and comment sentiment. Using a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach and the concept of Halal Tourism Branding, the study compares user interactions across both platforms. The findings show that TikTok is accessed and preferred more frequently, while YouTube offers deeper user engagement. TikTok users also tend give more positive feedback on specific aspects compared to YouTube users. These results suggest that Halal Tourism marketing in Banyuwangi should be tailored to the unique strengths and audience behavior of each platform, ensuring more effective outreach and sustainable destination branding strategies. This approach also encourages interest and trust.

Abstract

This study examined the strategic potential of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) to be developed as a global Halal Hub in support of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. A qualitative approach was employed using secondary data derived from government policy documents, the Nusantara Smart City Blueprint, and internationally indexed academic literature. Content analysis and comparative analysis were conducted to identify key themes, supporting factors, and challenges in positioning IKN within the global halal ecosystem. The findings indicated that the success of IKN as a Halal Hub depended on the integration of physical logistics infrastructure, such as multimodal transportation, segregation facilities, and cold chain systems, with smart digital technologies, including Internet of Things sensors, blockchain, and centralized monitoring systems. This integration strengthened transparency, traceability, and halal compliance while enhancing global market trust. The study also revealed the importance of human resource readiness and regulatory harmonization to ensure competitiveness. The proposed conceptual framework contributed to integrating smart city development with halal supply chain governance. This study examined the strategic potential of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) to be developed as a global Halal Hub in support of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. Abstract

The halal industry is increasingly expected to ensure not only halal-certified products and services but also sustainable, ethical, and environmentally responsible operations. Although the circular economy (CE) promotes resource efficiency through reuse, recycling, and waste reduction, existing CE models largely emphasize technical and economic dimensions while overlooking religious and ethical values relevant to the halal sector. In Brunei Darussalam, food waste accounts for approximately 32% of total landfill waste, while only 11.3% is recycled, raising concerns about the Sungai Paku Engineered Landfill's projected capacity by 2030. This study addresses the absence of a halal-oriented food waste management model by examining the synergies between the principles of Halalan Thayyiban and the circular economy. Using a qualitative approach, thematic analysis was conducted on relevant literature and Islamic sources. The findings demonstrate that Islamic ethical principles, particularly safety, cleanliness, responsibility, and waste prevention, grounded in the objectives of Maqasid al-Shari'ah, reinforce circular economy practices and provide a stronger ethical foundation for sustainable food waste management. This study contributes by proposing a halal-centric conceptual perspective that integrates Islamic ethical values with circular economy strategies within Brunei's halal industry. The proposed framework offers practical guidance for policy development and implementation while supporting sustainable development, particularly responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) and climate action (SDG 13).

Abstract

Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage produced by a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) and is increasingly consumed as a functional beverage. However, concerns regarding its safety and halal status remain, particularly due to ethanol formation during fermentation. This review aimed to evaluate the safety aspects and halal compliance of Kombucha by analyzing fermentation conditions, microbial activity, alcohol production, and halal critical control points. A literature review approach was employed using scientific articles, conference proceedings, fatwas, and official regulatory documents retrieved from PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The findings revealed that fermentation temperature, pH, duration, substrate composition, and microbial diversity significantly affected kombucha quality, particularly ethanol concentration and microbiological safety. Kombucha was generally considered safe for healthy individuals when produced under hygienic, controlled conditions. In contrast, uncontrolled fermentation increased the risk of excessive alcohol formation and microbial contamination. From a halal perspective, Kombucha may be considered permissible when ethanol content remains below 0.5%, and all ingredients and processing stages comply with halal requirements. Therefore, standardized fermentation control and halal assurance practices are essential to ensure product safety and halal compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of perceptions of halal beauty and ecospirituality on consumption behaviour, with Islamic consumption ethics as a mediating variable. The approach used is quantitative, using the Structural Equation Modelling method based on Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM), with data from 101 Muslim female Generation Z respondents with experience or knowledge of halal beauty products. The results show that perceptions of halal beauty and ecospirituality have a positive and significant effect on Islamic consumption ethics, with ecospirituality as the dominant factor, but neither directly affects consumption behaviour. Through Islamic consumption ethics, which have been proven to be significant in mediating the relationship, it is possible to bridge ecospirituality with consumption behaviour, and fully and weakly link halal beauty perception with consumption behaviour. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening the ethical value of Islamic consumption in education, counselling, and marketing strategies for halal products, so that consumers are not only oriented towards halal labels but also towards spiritual awareness and environmental concerns.
