Abstract

This study analyzes quality control in the production of E7 pen barrel components in the injection department of PT. X, where the Defect rate consistently exceeded 5% from January to September 2025, peaking at 12.30% in July. The Six sigma method was applied through a Project Charter, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA (with the highest RPN values for material drying at 105 and flashing at 96), as well as data analyses such as Pareto charts to identify dominant Defects arising from unstable mold temperature, low injection pressure, and non-uniform cooling. This descriptive quantitative research uses primary data (observations of temperature, pressure, and Defects) and secondary data from company reports, collected through observation, interviews, and analytical tools such as Minitab and Excel for DPMO calculation and reliability validation. The results indicate potential improvements in the efficiency of the main production process (70% of pen output) through the stabilization of machine parameters and the process DPMO value was reported at 310,416 with a sigma level of 1.995, indicating that the process quality remains low. The main improvement solution involves the application of a Cooling conformal channel to the injection mold, which includes the design of a water-cooling system aimed at distributing heat uniformly and reducing sink marks and flash on the thin walls of the barrel.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to determine whether Indonesian sales of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles are impacted by the growth in electric vehicle sales. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries' (GAIKINDO) publicly available wholesales reports for the years 2020–2024 provided the data used in the analysis. The association between the sales of the electric vehicle (X variable) dan the sales of the ICE vehicle (Y variable) was investigated quantitatively using simple regression analysis dan the F-test. The test results show that the significance value is greater than 0.05, with a value of 0.729. Therefore, it can be stated that the data distribution is normal. Then, the Spearman's Rank Correlation Test was performed, yielding a correlation coefficient value of -0.545, which means the two variables have a strong negative relationship; when one variable increases, the other will decrease. The significance value of the Spearman's rank correlation test performed was 0.067, which is below 0.1 as the P-Value. Next, the F-test was performed, resulting in an F-statistic value of 5.026, which, when compared to the F-table, is 4.96 (F-statistic ≥ F-table). From the 3 tests conducted, it can be concluded that H0 is accepted, meaning that the sale of electric cars significantly affects the sale of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars.

Abstract

This study aims to design a modular production system (MPS) concept that is capable of optimally lifting and moving workpieces and analysing the energy consumption required during operation. The method used is VDI 2221 for systematic concept design, combined with a sensor-based quantitative experimental method to measure air and electrical energy consumption. The design results produce four concept variations, with variation 4 (4-axis robot, specific gripper bracket, magnetic sensor, electric gripper, aluminium profile as bed plate, table, steel foot adjuster, PLA+ jaw gripper) selected as the best concept because it is in accordance with the initial specification list and has the highest weight value (4.54). Pneumatic energy consumption over one hour recorded a total air volume of 338 L, a converted power of 1.16 kW, and a total energy of 4,175.424 kJ. Total electrical energy consumption reached 0.315 kWh, with the compressor accounting for the largest share at 0.239 kWh. The VDI 2221 method proved effective in producing a systematic MPS design concept that fulfils all established technical specifications.
