Abstract

Community physiotherapy is one form of physiotherapy approach in improving understanding of health and maintaining body movement function among the community. Sports have a major impact on survival, this kind of activity can benefit many things, especially in improving physical quality, helping to develop the brain and emotional stabilization. In East Java, lower limb injuries were found to be 54.2%, and the type of sprain or dislocation injury was 40.1%. Ankle sprain is one of the musculoskeletal injuries that is often experienced by most people when doing activities or exercising. To overcome this, you can do strengthening with several exercises that focus on the ankle and first aid using the PRICE method as first aid. This counseling had 28 participants. The method used was to provide physiotherapy counseling that focused on strengthening and handling ankle injuries with posters and leaflets. The results obtained before and after the presentation of the material, there was an increase in understanding about strengthening and handling ankle injuries in the Lanisa Pakis Kembar sports community.

Abstract

Introduction: An ankle sprain is an injury that occurs to the lateral complex ligaments due to overstretching in inversion and plantar flexion which occurs suddenly when the foot does not support perfectly on an uneven floor/ground surface. As a result of this injury several symptoms can occur such as pain, swelling and unstable ankle. Initial treatment uses RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevation), which aims to reduce pain and swelling as well as administering Teraband which aims to increase muscle strength and range of motion (ROM). Method : Providing counseling and application of exercise therapy carried out on October 23 2024 at 11.00 WIB at MTS Baghrul Magfiroh Jln.Joyo Agung No.2, Tlogomas, Kec.Lowokwaru, Malang City, East Java with 20 respondents. This activity uses posters, leaflets as health promotion media as well as filling out a questionnaire consisting of 4 questions with a value of 25 for each question. Results : There was a gain of 40% before being given an understanding and application of exercise therapy in the treatment of sports injuries to the ankle (ankle sprain). The results obtained were very significant in increasing understanding and handling of exercise therapy by 100% of the results given by respondents after providing counseling. Conclusion : There is an increase in understanding and application of exercise therapy in the initial treatment of sports injuries to the ankle (ankle sprain).

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension, often referred to as the silent killer, is a major risk factor for mortality worldwide, including in Indonesia. It affects all age groups, with the elderly being the most vulnerable. Hypertension is defined as a condition where systolic blood pressure exceeds 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure exceeds 90 mmHg. It is categorized into primary hypertension, with an unknown cause, and secondary hypertension, caused by kidney, endocrine, heart, or adrenal disorders. Research Method: Educational counseling and sports therapy were conducted on October 19, 2024, from 08.30 to 10.00 WIB at Posyandu Mawar, Balai RW.03, Dinoyo Village, Lowokwaru District, involving 30 elderly respondents. Posters and leaflets were used as health promotion tools, along with a questionnaire containing four questions, each worth 25 points. Results: Pretest results indicated understanding of hypertension definition (70%), breathing exercises (45%), benefits (67.4%), and application (0%). Posttest results showed a 100% improvement in all components after the intervention. Conclusion: Counseling and exercise therapy significantly increased understanding and implementation of hypertension management among the 30 elderly respondents, reducing the risk of death, the severity of hypertension, and the likelihood of complications.

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a common musculoskeletal complaint among industrial workers, especially those performing heavy physical tasks like lifting and maintaining non-ergonomic postures for prolonged periods. This condition can reduce workplace productivity and quality of life. This activity aimed to enhance workers' knowledge and skills in preventing and managing LBP through education and practical training. Ten bread industry workers in Malang City participated in this program, which included lectures on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and management of LBP, as well as stretching exercises to alleviate discomfort. Pre-counseling assessments showed only 10% of participants had knowledge about LBP, but post-counseling evaluations revealed a significant improvement to 100%. These results demonstrate that simple education and exercises can positively impact LBP management. Similar programs are recommended to be implemented regularly to promote workplace health and comprehensively prevent LBP risks.

Abstract

Ankle sprain is one of the most common injuries that occur in schools during sports activities. Injuries can occur at the beginning of sports activities or during sports, this can occur due to lack of warm-up, inadequate infrastructure, low flexibility, uncontrolled movement, and also due to fatigue. The impacts that can occur are pain, swelling, weakness and limited range of motion of the ankle joints. The prevalence of ankle injuries in East Java is 30.5% caused by sports injuries and around 5.83% of total injuries occur around schools and their environments. Sports activities at school such as basketball, martial arts, running and other sports activities that can result in ankle sprains. Objective: This counseling aims to provide knowledge of handling and training for injuries independently to MTS Darul Qur'an students. Method: The method used is to provide physiotherapy counseling that focuses on handling and training ankle injuries with posters and leaflets. The evaluation results obtained before and after answering the quiz from the presentation of the material, can be concluded that the participants have understood the material that has been presented and have a better understanding of ankle sprains.

Abstract

An elderly person is someone who is 60 years old and above. As we age, many degenerative diseases such as movement disorders in the knee joint or knee osteoarthritis (KOA). This condition causes a decrease in body function and can reduce quality of life, such as limited space for movement, decreased work ability, and severe pain. This Community Service activity was carried out at the Tamanharjo Elderly Community, Malang with 30 elderly participants. This activity uses the Service Learning (SL) method with the achievement of service indicators through pre and post-test. These indicators include definitions, signs and symptoms, risk factors and KOA rehabilitation.  The pre-test results showed 5% to 10%.  While the post-test shows results up to 95%. So that this service is able to increase elderly knowledge related to KOA as an effort to improve quality of life.

Abstract

Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a type of rheumatic disease of the knee that is most commonly experienced by the elderly due to metabolic disorders. Some risk factors for KOA include age, obesity, and physical activity. It is important for the community, especially the elderly with the majority of jobs as farmers, to understand KOA pain management. Community service aims to provide education on KOA pain management. This service method uses a Service Learning (SL) approach with 22 participants with indications of KOA. Indicators of service achievement using pre-test and post-test with indicators including definitions, signs and symptoms, risk factors, and rehabilitation. The results of the service showed an increase in knowledge from 17% to 86%. So that KOA pain management education in the Sidoluhur elderly community is significantly able to increase participant knowledge.

Abstract

Background : Traditional diving is a major source of livelihood for some Indonesian coastal communities, especially for fishing and other marine products. However, diving practices that do not comply with safety standards often pose serious health risks, particularly vascular and cardiac disorders (Wabula, 2019). Knowing the description of decompression sickness, how to prevent / minimize the risk of decompression by diving properly / healthy and using alternative fishing methods in Bajo Indah Village, Soropia Kec. Konawe Regency. Methods. Providing education in the form of counseling and demonstration, the target of this activity is traditional divers in Bajo Indah village, Soropia sub-district, Konawe, totaling 30 people. Indicators of the success of the intervention through measuring the level of knowledge, which was carried out before and after conducting education, Result:. There was a change in the number of respondents' knowledge levels before and after providing education, it appeared that the percentage of respondents with poor knowledge (19 respondents or 63%) and 8 respondents or 26% decreased with the number of respondents with low knowledge being 3 respondents (10%) and with sufficient knowledge increasing to 12 respondents (40%).

Abstract

Kehamilan adalah periode unik dalam kehidupan yang terkait dengan perubahan hormonal dan fisiologis lainnya pada seorang wanita hamil, yang dapat memicu atau mengubah jalannya gangguan neurologis dan kejiwaan. Pemberian peregangan nyeri punggung bawah pada kelompok ibu hamil di Wilayah Puskesmas Pandanwangi. Metode yang dilakukan pada kegiatan ini dengan memberikan penyeluhan kepada kelompok  ibu-ibu hamil dengan judul “Edukasi Fisioterapi Tentang Penanganan Risiko Terjadinya  NyerI Punggung Bawah”. Kegiatan yang dilakukan dengan menentukan masalah pada kelompok ibu-ibu hamil dengan observasi dan penyuluhan menggunakan poster dengan menggunakan metode pre-test dan post-test berupa wawancara secara langsung. Terdapat pengetahuan dan wawasan tentang latihan-latihan yang diberikan untuk mengurangi nyeri punggung bawah pada kelompok ibu hamil. Simpulan : Kegiatan penyuluhan di kelompok ibu-ibu hamil dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan para ibu mengenai "Edukasi Fisioterapi Tentang Penanganan Risiko Terjadinya NyerI Punggung Bawah" dan dapat meningkatkan kekuatan otot serta dapat mengurangi nyeri punggung sehingga dapat berkurang dengan adanya latihan yang diberikan pada saat penyuluhan

Abstract

The incidence of malaria in pregnant women in Keerom Regency in 2020 was 75 people, in 2021 it was 48 people and in 2022 it rose again to 77 people. Arso Kota Community Health Center is a community health center where the incidence of malaria in first-time pregnant women has been quite high in the last three years, namely 12 people in 2020, then decreased to 10 people in 2021 and increased again in 2022 to 21 people.   The aim of this community service activity is to assist the Community Health Center in reducing malaria rates in pregnant women by empowering cadres. The method used is to empower malaria cadres by providing education about malaria prevention, malaria diagnosis and malaria management using a pocket book. Cadres are also trained to carry out RDT checks.  The results showed that knowledge about malaria among the cadres who were trained increased on average, where the average pre-test score was 70 and the average post-test score was 90. The level of skill in carrying out RDT examinations for cadres increased, where the pre-test skill score was 60 and the post test skills score was 95. Conclusion This activity was successful in increasing the knowledge and skills of malaria cadres in preventing malaria in pregnant women at the Arso City Community Health Center. Continuation of this program is highly recommended to maintain the results achieved.
