Abstract

This ethnographic study examines Muhammadiyah's grassroots cultural da'wah via PCM Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta (2023–2024), revealing how this puritanical movement negotiates and transforms Javanese culture. Grounded in cultural da'wah, Dahlanism (selective-accommodative-transformative strategy of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan), and purification-accommodation dialectics (Geertz, Malinowski), it deploys participant observation, interviews, FGDs, and thematic analysis of da'wah interactions. Findings highlight Dahlanism's success: accommodating Javanese calendars/Krama in rituals; repurposing yasinan/tahlilan for Qur'anic education; maslahah-driven cultural partnership. Challenges include balancing purity with tradition and cadre hesitancy; recommendations advocate integrating the model into central training and inter-branch forums. Contributions: empirical micro-portrait of da'wah; theoretical sharpening of Dahlanism beyond puritan-traditional binaries for modern Islamic locality strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the political marketing strategies implemented by the Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) ticket in the 2024 Presidential Election through a phenomenological approach. The research focuses on interpreting the experiences of political actors—including the supporting parties, campaign teams, and volunteers—in building a political narrative based on change and social justice. The phenomenological approach was chosen to explore the subjective meaning of the political communication process and campaign strategies that shape the candidate pair's image in the public eye. The results of the study indicate that the strategy of Segmenting, Targeting, and Positioning (STP) and the implementation of the Marketing Mix (product, promotion, price, and place) became the main foundation in shaping the public perception of the AMIN ticket. Political products that emphasize moral values, integrity, and support for the common people were promoted through digital strategies and a massive volunteer movement. These findings confirm that political marketing is not only an electoral instrument, but also a social communication process that builds moral legitimacy and public participation. This research provides a theoretical contribution to the development of political marketing studies in Indonesia, particularly in the context of participatory democracy that emphasizes ethics, transparency, and public trust.

Abstract

This qualitative case study at SMP Prima Cendikia Islami (PCI), Bandung, examines integrating AI-driven digital literacy with honesty education in a faith-based junior high school. Using purposive sampling of leaders, teachers, students, and parents, data from interviews, focus groups, document analysis, and observations underwent thematic analysis with triangulation for rigor. Findings show AI platforms (e.g., TAKJUP, LMS, Parent Information System) embed moral reasoning via formative monitoring, sustaining top national character rankings. High teacher training and student-led clinics promote ethical accountability, proving pedagogical design determines AI's moral impact. Faith-based schools can thus harmonize tech innovation with values education, offering a scalable model. Future research should explore longitudinal moral outcomes and validated honesty measures.

Abstract

In order to preserve national integrity, religious moderation is essential. Buddhist teachings, like those of all other religions in Indonesia, support religious moderation. Buddhayana is one of the scholastic schools of Buddhism in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of Buddhayana ideas to Indonesian religious moderation. This study's methodology is a review of the literature. The study's findings suggest that certain Buddhist teachings align with the markers of religious moderation. The Kutadanta Sutta contains Buddhist teachings about national commitment. The Buddha exemplifies tolerance in the Upali Sutta by counselling devotees like Upali to carefully consider new views before changing, always showing respect for their prior affiliations. According to the Buddha, every human being develops non-violence based on their brahmavihara, which includes metta, karuna, mudita, and upekkha. The Buddha teaches accommodation of local culture in the Sigalovada Sutta, which says that proper understanding is the foundation for both openness and the preservation of local culture. The tenets of Buddhayana, which include a non-sectarian, inclusive, pluralistic, universal mindset and faith in Sanghayang Adi Buddha, are consistent with the practice of religious moderation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the integration of sharia economics, green economy, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in strengthening the sustainable development model in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, this study found that sharia principles such as justice, balance, and benefit are aligned with the green economy agenda that emphasizes resource efficiency and environmental protection. The findings indicate that the implementation of Sharia financial instruments, such as productive zakat, green waqf, and green sukuk, significantly strengthens the funding of sustainable development projects and increases community participation. The coherence between the values of maqasid al-shariah and the SDGs targets makes sharia economics an effective ethical platform in the transition to low-carbon development. This study concludes that Sharia-green integration is a strategic approach to achieving inclusive and resilient development, although challenges remain, including limited regulations, inadequate institutional capacity, and limited public understanding. Recommendations for further research include the use of mixed methods, expanding the study to the halal industry sector, and developing an integrative theoretical framework based on maqasid and SDGs indicators.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of marriage guidance at the Bandung City AMCDP (Agency for Marriage Counselling, Development, and Preservation)’—known as BP4 (Badan Penasihatan, Pembinaan, dan Pelestarian Perkawinan)—as a preventive mechanism against divorce, analyzed through psychological, sociocultural, and Islamic legal perspectives. Using a qualitative case-study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with institutional leaders, observations of counselling sessions, and documentation of program guidelines. The findings demonstrate that AMCDP employs a multilayered guidance model comprising premarital education, post-marital enrichment, conflict counselling, spiritual strengthening, and structured mediation. These practices integrate psychological intervention skills—such as communication training and emotional-regulation techniques—with Islamic ethical principles, including iṣlāḥ, muʻāsharah bi al-maʻrūf, and the preservation of marriage as mīṡāqan ghalīẓan. The institution also plays a mediational role mandated by Indonesian marriage law, particularly in pre-divorce reconciliation procedures. The study concludes that AMCDP represents a hybrid institution bridging religious norms, legal mandates, and psychosocial realities to strengthen marital resilience. This model contributes to Islamic family-law scholarship by demonstrating how classical jurisprudential principles can be operationalized into contemporary counselling practice to prevent divorce.

Abstract

This research examines the influence of local cultural knowledge, Islamic (Sharia-based) values, and agribusiness innovations on the development of sustainable agricultural practices in Subang, West Java, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative document analysis approach, the study explores how indigenous traditions such as the Mapag Sri ritual and collective labor systems (gotong royong) play a significant role in maintaining ecological sustainability and social cohesion within farming communities. These local practices are reinforced by Islamic ethical principles, including ʿadl (justice), barakah (divine blessing), and zakat al-zurʿ (agricultural almsgiving), which guide moral responsibility in agricultural production, distribution, and resource management. In parallel, the adoption of agribusiness innovations particularly digital farming technologies, cooperative-based management, and improved market access enhances productivity, efficiency, and farmers’ economic resilience. The findings demonstrate that sustainability in Subang is not the result of isolated interventions, but rather emerges from a coherent system in which cultural traditions, religious ethics, and modern technological practices mutually reinforce one another. This integrated framework strengthens environmental stewardship, promotes ethical governance, and supports long-term socio-economic resilience in rural communities. The study contributes a context-sensitive model of sustainable agriculture that successfully bridges tradition and modernity within a Muslim-majority setting. It offers valuable insights for policymakers, development practitioners, and scholars concerned with rural development, Islamic economics, and sustainable livelihoods. Furthermore, the model proposed in this research may serve as a transferable framework for other agricultural regions undergoing similar socio-cultural and economic transformations.
