Abstract

This study analyzes the adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technology in lowland vegetable farming in Sidoarjo Regency using a mixed methods approach involving 840 farmers in five central sub-districts selected through stratified random sampling. Data analysis employed logistic regression, Propensity Score Matching (PSM) with nearest neighbor method, and laboratory analysis. Results indicate a low IPM adoption rate of 39.3%, with 25.8% partial adopters and 13.5% complete adopters. The most adopted component is cultural practices (73.8%), while the least adopted is economic threshold application (14.2%). Significant determinants include education level (OR=1.091), Farmer Field School participation (OR=4.288), IPM input access (OR=2.545), and neighbor adoption rates (OR=8.914). PSM analysis showed IPM adoption significantly increased technical efficiency (DEA score: 0.785 vs 0.731, p=0.010), reduced pesticide use by 23% (p<0.001), and increased net profit by Rp 5.3 million/ha (p=0.002). Product quality from IPM adopters was superior with 67% reduction in pesticide residues, higher nutritional content, and an 8.4% price premium. Adoption sustainability reached 71.8% after two years. A total investment of Rp 66.5 billion is recommended to achieve a 75% adoption target within five years.

Abstract

This study analyzes post-production management of NPK Phonska fertilizer at PT. Petrokimia Gresik using a qualitative case study approach. The research focused on the Warehouse and Bagging Department PH IV to examine the implementation of management functions, identification of operational constraints, and evaluation of system effectiveness. Findings reveal comprehensive implementation of four management functions—planning, organizing, directing, and controlling—within an integrated system covering packaging, quality control, storage, and distribution. Automated packaging technology achieved a throughput target of 300 bags per hour with ±0.5% weighing accuracy. The integrated quality control system improved product conformity from 97.8% to 99.2% and reduced customer complaints from 0.8% to 0.4%. Storage operations using a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) system with 304 buffer warehouses achieved 98.8% inventory accuracy and a 96.8% customer retention rate. Key constraints identified include machine downtime of 8–12%, skill gaps of 20–40% in core competencies, limited information system integration at 60–80%, and external challenges from demand variability and infrastructure limitations. Main recommendations include implementing predictive maintenance, strengthening HR development programs, comprehensive information system integration, and strategic partnership expansion to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in supporting national food security.

Abstract

Abstract

Production is the result of a combination of various production factors. Therefore, to achieve optimal production, it is necessary to combine production factors appropriately. This study aims to analyze the influence of land area, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and labor on cassava production, both simultaneously and partially, in Buaran Village. This study is a quantitative study. The study was conducted in Buaran Village, Mayong District, Jepara Regency because Buaran Village is the area within Mayong District with the largest cassava land and production. The population in this study was all farmers who grow cassava in rice fields, gardens, farms, and dry fields. A sample of 50 respondents was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection used a questionnaire, and data analysis used the Cobb-Douglas analysis and the classical assumption test. The results showed that land area, seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, and labor simultaneously influenced cassava production. At the 5% significance level, land area, seeds, fertilizer, and labor significantly influenced cassava production, while pesticides did not have a partial significant effect on cassava production because the probability value was greater than the 5% significance level.
