Abstract

Drinking water is water that meets health standards and can be consumed directly. The demand for drinking water is increasing, but the challenge of water pollution is reducing the availability of clean water sources. Refill water depots have become an alternative, but their quality needs to be maintained to ensure public safety. The aim of this study is to analyze the microbiological quality of refill drinking water in Padang City. This research used a descriptive cross-sectional method with the CFU method for analyzing Total Coliform and E. coli. The results show that the majority of refill drinking water in Padang City does not meet the quality standards (0 CFU/100 ml). Out of 12 depots tested, 41.67 % depots significantly exceeded the standards, with Total Coliform reaching and E. coli > 0 CFU/100 ml. The conclusion of this study is that most refill drinking water depots in Padang City do not meet quality standards and contain E. coli and Total Coliform. It is recommended that refill water depots improve cleanliness, sanitation, equipment maintenance, and conduct routine testing to ensure water quality meets the standards. The government should strengthen monitoring and conduct periodic evaluations.

Abstract

The sanitation conditions in schools across Indonesia vary significantly, with many schools, especially in remote areas, lacking proper sanitation facilities such as clean water, adequate toilets, and hygiene programs. This has a direct impact on students' health, contributing to issues such as diarrhea, dehydration, and malnutrition. Good sanitation is essential as it contributes to students' health and creates a more conducive learning environment. The Adiwiyata School Program, which integrates environmental education and sustainability, plays a crucial role in improving school sanitation by enhancing facilities and changing students' behavior towards cleanliness. This study aims to explore the impact of the Adiwiyata School Program on sanitation in Indonesian schools through a literature review approach. The method used is a literature review to collect data from various sources such as journals, books, and relevant online articles. The findings suggest that the Adiwiyata Program has successfully improved sanitation, particularly in areas like canteen cleanliness, waste management, and the implementation of handwashing practices, although challenges related to budget and awareness still exist. It is recommended that further research be conducted to examine the direct impact of the Adiwiyata Program and the need for increased awareness and budget support to strengthen the program’s effectiveness.

Abstract

Rivers play an important role in supporting people's lives. However, poor river water quality due to pollution has a significant impact on the survival of coastal communities and the condition of the surrounding environment. To overcome water pollution, it is important to implement stricter regulations that are regulated in Law no. 32 of 2009 supplemented by Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021. The research carried out was quantitative descriptive in nature, highlighting the impact on the water quality of the Batang Arau river from examining BOD, COD and TSS, which are river water pollution parameters. The research results show that in 2023, the results of examining COD parameters in the upstream river area will exceed the set quality standard limit, namely 25 mg/L. The recorded value reached 87.3 mg/L, which indicates the presence of very high levels of organic chemicals in these waters. In 2024, inspection results show significant improvements in the water quality of the Batang Arau River. It was concluded that the water quality of the Batang Arau river shows a positive trend. The pollution conditions that occurred in 2023, especially in the COD and BOD parameters in the upstream river, have been successfully improved by 2024. This shows the success of efforts to improve environmental quality carried out in the river area.

Abstract

The tambora plant known as ground bile or bandotan in Central Kalimantan, has a variety of benefits due to the content of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, and saponins. This study aims to determine the effect of tambora leaf extract (Ageratum Conyzoides) on abrasion wound healing in white rats (Rattus Norvegicus) Sprague Dawley. Extraction was carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent, and tested at three different concentrations of 0.25%, 0.5%, and 1%, as well as positive control using Bioplacenton ointment. To analyze the data, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test was used, and the p-value of 0.10 was greater than 0.05. The results showed that tambora leaf extract has antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects that support the healing process of blisters. Tambora leaf extract with a concentration of 1% (P3) proved to be the most effective in accelerating wound healing. The administration of tambora leaf extract (Ageratum Conyzoides) is proven to accelerate the healing of abrasions in Sprague Dawley white rats without causing infection or allergic reactions. Further research is recommended to compare with other ingredients, use different extract concentrations, and involve more samples. In addition, microscopic examination and clinical trials in humans also need to be carried out.
