Abstract

Vulnus laseratum is a condition where the continuity of tissue is disrupted and separated from normal tissue, usually due to tearing with significant force. Tambora leaves are known to contain secondary compounds such as terpenoids, alkaloids, essential oils, saponins, and phenols, which have various pharmacological activities. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Tambora leaf extract on the healing of torn wounds in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). The research method used was a true experimental method with a time series control group design. The research population consisted of four male white rats divided into four samples, including three treatment samples with Tambora leaf extract concentrations of 0.25%, 0.5%, and 1%, and one control sample using Bioplacenton ointment. The research results used a normality test (Shapiro Wilk) to analyze the data, with a p-value <0.05, which showed a result of 0.10, indicating that the data were normally distributed. It can be concluded that the concentration of P2 0.5% produces the optimal effect, better than the lower concentrations of Tambora leaf extract, and the 0.5% concentration results in the most effective hemostatic effect on wound healing. The suggestion from this study is to conduct clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of Tambora leaf extract (Ageratum Conyzoides) in the treatment of torn wounds (vulnus laseratum).

Abstract

In Pekanbaru city, 6-month-old infants who received exclusive breastfeeding in 2020 were 53.4%. Problems that affect exclusive breastfeeding to infants include age, education, employment, knowledge, attitudes, family support as well as, maintaining adequate breastfeeding frequency in infants is still a challenge. The stimulation approach to infants can maximize the activity of the vagus nerve and improve food absorption, making babies hungry faster and more often breastfeeding their mothers. This study aims to determine the effect of stimulation on the frequency of breastfeeding at the age of 1-6 months in the independent practice of midwives Bdn. Hasna Dewi and FS, S.Keb in Pekanbaru City. This type of research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design approach Pretest-Posttest one Group Design with a population of 15 babies who are breastfeeding. Data were analyzed by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Paired Sample Test. The results of this statistical test obtained a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 which means that Ha is accepted where there is an Effect of Stimulation on Breastfeeding Frequency at the Age of 1- 6 Months in the Independent Practice of Midwife Bdn. Hasna Dewi FS, S.Keb Pekanbaru. Conclusion: an interesting approach in an effort to increase the frequency of breastfeeding in infants is by stimulating routine massage in infants can help babies breastfeed more often. It is recommended to provide regular stimulation to infants as part of daily care. Proper stimulation can support the sensory, motor, cognitive, and social development of infants, so that their growth becomes more optimal.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg. One of the triggers for hypertension is lack of physical activity. Efforts to prevent and treat hypertension can be done with pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the non- pharmacological therapis that can be carried out is isometric handgrip exercise. The aim is to determine the effect of isometric handgrip exercise therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Method: quasi-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest design research approach. The number of samples taken was 15 respondents with a non-probability sampling technique using purposive sampling. The instruments for this research are Isometric handgrip exercise therapy SOP, Isometric therapy observasion sheet, blood pressure record sheet, sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. Bivariate analysis uses the dependent T test if the data is normally distributed. Results the average post-test diastole was 80.93. The results of the dependent study showed differences before and after isometric handgrip exercise therapy on blood pressure with p value = 0.000 (α < 0,05). Conclusion: The results of this research are used as evidence-based and complementary therapy in the management of hypertension sufferers to reduce blood pressure independently.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is pain that occurs before and during menstruation caused by a decrease in progesterone hormone, stress, menarche before age 12, family history, menstrual cycle duration, lack of exercise, and consumption of fast food, which can interfere with adolescents' activities. In Indonesia, it is estimated that 64% of women of reproductive age experience dysmenorrhea, and in West Sumatra, about 57.3% of women experience it. Dysmenorrhea management can be pharmacological or non-pharmacological. Non-pharmacological pain management is safer as it does not cause side effects, such as using warm or cold compresses. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of warm and cold compresses in reducing menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) among female adolescents in Payakumbuh City in 2024. This research used an experimental design with a quasi-experimental approach and a two-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 62 respondents selected using convenience sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that among the 62 respondents, the average pain scale before applying a warm compress was 4.52, which decreased to 0.87 after applying the warm compress. The average pain scale before applying a cold compress was 4.68, which decreased to 0.90 after applying the cold compress. Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test yielded a significance value of 0.880 (>0.05), indicating no significant difference between warm and cold compresses in reducing menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) among female adolescents in Payakumbuh City in 2024. It is recommended that adolescent girls experiencing dysmenorrhea perform warm and cold compress therapy independently, as this can help reduce the consumption of pain-relieving medications.

Abstract

The quality of healthcare services is a crucial indicator in ensuring patient safety, and accreditation serves as a strategic instrument to achieve this goal. Accreditation functions as a framework to assess and improve the effectiveness of management oversight in healthcare facilities. This study aims to identify and analyze the impact of accreditation on the effectiveness of management oversight systems. The research design is a literature review by analyzing 12 national and international articles from the Google Scholar database published between 2014 and 2024. Data collection was conducted systematically using the PICO approach, with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thematic analysis was applied to examine relevant study findings. Results show that accreditation enhances communication among healthcare workers, compliance with procedures, service documentation, and safety culture. However, challenges such as limited resources, organizational cultural differences, and high implementation costs remain obstacles. In conclusion, accreditation has proven to be an effective managerial tool for improving service quality and management oversight systems in healthcare facilities. It is recommended that to ensure its sustainability, strengthening human resource capacity, responsive policy support, and continuous technical assistance—especially in resource-limited areas—are essential.

Abstract

Periodontal disorders during pregnancy are often overlooked, despite their potential association with systemic conditions such as Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). Hormonal changes during pregnancy may trigger gingival inflammation, which can worsen periodontal status, especially in the presence of elevated blood glucose levels. This study aimed to determine the relationship between periodontal status and blood glucose levels in pregnant women. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The population consisted of 169 pregnant women at community health centers (Puskesmas) in Bandar Lampung, with 50 participants selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through clinical examinations, interviews, and documentation from July to September 2023. Data analysis used chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests. The results showed that 6% of respondents with high blood glucose levels had periodontitis, and 10% had gingivitis. Meanwhile, among those with normal blood glucose levels, 10% had periodontitis and 70% had gingivitis. The chi-square test revealed a significant association (p=0.003) between periodontal status and blood glucose levels. It can be concluded that higher blood glucose levels are associated with poorer periodontal conditions. Routine periodontal screening and oral health education for pregnant women with GDM are strongly recommended.
