Abstract

Students' emotional states and self-confidence play a role in their engagement during the learning process. This study aims to describe teachers' strategies for managing emotional states and building student self-confidence to create active and enjoyable Natural and Social Sciences lessons in elementary school. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed at SDN 1 Bendo, Blitar City, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that emotional management is achieved through mood checks, observation of expressions and behavior, personal communication, and allowing students time to stabilize their emotions. Self-confidence is fostered by involving quiet students in practical activities, providing gradual opportunities for them to perform or present, and offering positive reinforcement through praise and appreciation. Teachers also utilize hands-on practice, concrete learning aids, environmental observation, videos, and group learning to create an active and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Heterogeneous grouping is used to encourage interaction and cooperation among students. The findings demonstrate that integrating emotional management, confidence-building, and active learning creates a more conducive learning environment and encourages students to participate confidently. Thus, Natural and Social Sciences instruction needs to address emotional aspects and self-confidence as integral parts of holistic student development.

Abstract

Speaking ability is an essential aspect of early childhood language development that supports communication, social interaction, and the expression of ideas. Based on observations conducted at TK Dharma Wanita II Sumbercangkring, 10 out of 25 children in Group B experienced difficulties in retelling stories coherently and lacked confidence when speaking in front of others. This study aimed to describe the implementation of audiovisual media in stimulating the speaking abilities of children aged 5–6 years. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation during learning activities using the audiovisual folklore story “Batu Menangis.” The findings indicated that the use of audiovisual media increased children's interest in speaking, helped them understand story content, enriched their vocabulary, and encouraged them to retell stories more coherently and confidently. Therefore, audiovisual media can be utilized as an effective learning medium to stimulate speaking abilities in early childhood.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital communication has encouraged higher education institutions to develop promotional content that is informative, visually attractive, and responsive to social-media audiences. This study aims to develop and describe a workflow for utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in producing promotional video content for the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Malang (FIP UM). The study uses a Research and Development approach with the ADDIE model, covering analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were obtained through observation, documentation of storyboards and AI prompts, product evaluation, and documentation of publication on the official Instagram account @fip.um. The interim results show that AI was integrated across ideation, scriptwriting, storyboard development, visual design, video generation, editing, and publication. ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Canva AI, and Google Flow were used as complementary tools. Five promotional videos had been produced and published at the progress-report stage. One faculty-introduction video recorded 77,462 views, reached 60,757 accounts, and generated 7,391 interactions, while a program-promotion video reached 14,404 views and 7,891 accounts. These findings indicate that AI-assisted production can support efficient and consistent digital promotion while retaining human control over creative and institutional decisions.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the increasing use of social media, which triggers a fear of missing out among college students. The study aims to test the effectiveness of group counseling using sociodrama techniques in preventing the fear of missing out. The method used was a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest study involving 8 college students selected through purposive sampling based on the criterion of having a moderate to high level of fear of missing out. The research instrument used a FOMO scale that has been validated and found to be reliable, while data analysis employed the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed a significant decrease in FOMO levels from the moderate–high category to the low category among all subjects, with a significance value of a Z-score of -2.521 and p = 0.012 (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the effect size calculation yielded an r value of 0.89, which falls into the “large effect” category, indicating that the group counseling intervention using sociodrama techniques has a strong influence on reducing FOMO. Furthermore, more adaptive psychological and behavioral changes were observed in social media use. Thus, group counseling using sociodrama techniques is effective in preventing the fear of missing out among college students.

Abstract

Implementing a deep learning approach at the primary school level requires the readiness of various school components to ensure meaningful and student-centered learning. This study aims to analyze the readiness for implementing a deep learning approach in Grade V at SDN Karangtengah 4, Blitar City, examining learning conditions, teacher and student readiness, institutional support, and facilities. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving the school principal, Grade V teachers, and students. Data validity was verified through source and technique triangulation, while analysis involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results indicate that the school is at an initial stage of readiness to implement the deep learning approach. This is evidenced by the principal’s and teachers’ openness to innovation and students’ positive responses to discussions, projects, hands-on activities, and visual media. However, challenges include limited teacher understanding and training, administrative burdens, varying student abilities, and suboptimal supporting facilities. Parental support and available resources serve as potential assets. Therefore, implementation should be conducted gradually through enhancing teacher competence, developing adaptive learning, optimizing facilities, strengthening institutional support, and fostering collaboration with parents.

Abstract

Children with visual impairment require special educational services with a multisensory approach in order to reach their learning potential optimally. This study aims to describe the implementation of learning methods, curriculum adaptation, and the challenges faced by teachers of visually impaired students. Using a qualitative observation method combined with in-depth interviews, data were collected from a homeroom teacher and a fourth-grade visually impaired student at SLB Bhakti Luhur. The results show that the teacher combines lecture and demonstration methods with tactile and audio media, since relying on a single sensory channel is not sufficient to build meaningful understanding, and that the school modifies the Kurikulum Merdeka independently due to the unavailability of specialized guidebooks. The student demonstrated good academic ability, active social interaction, and a strong interest in music, although she occasionally displayed anxious hand movements that eased with emotional support from the teacher. The study concludes that multisensory, tactile-based teaching and consistent emotional support are essential in helping visually impaired students learn effectively and build self-confidence.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) training is currently widely conducted through various technology-based learning channels. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of an AI education program facilitated by Nortis' Academy, by comparing participants' learning outcomes in online and offline formats. A quantitative comparative design was applied, involving a population of 36 individuals: 15 online and 21 offline respondents. Instruments utilized final evaluation scores from three training sessions. Based on the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U Test, a significance value of 0.016 < 0.05 was obtained, confirming a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes. The online group's average evaluation score (94.42) proved superior to the offline group (89.33). This superiority is supported by digital adaptability and minimal distractions. The conclusion shows that digital-native skills training is more effective online. These findings contribute to educational technology, acting as a foundation for designing future digital learning strategies.

Abstract

Natural and Social Sciences instruction in elementary schools requires strategies that promote student interest and active engagement through concrete and contextual experiences. This study aims to analyze teacher strategies for enhancing student interest and engagement through hands-on practice and concrete media. A descriptive qualitative approach was conducted at SDN 1 Bendo, Blitar City, involving a fifth-grade teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers integrate hands-on activities, concrete media, the school environment, visual and audiovisual aids, and group learning. Organ replicas and ecosystem observations stimulated student curiosity and participation, while positive reinforcement encouraged less engaged students. When concrete media were unavailable, images and videos were used as alternatives. Overall, combining conceptual explanations with hands-on experiences creates a more active, contextual, and enjoyable learning process.
