Abstract

The problem of relations between religious communities until now still has the potential to cause conflict in the midst of plurality of society. Conflicts based on religious sentiments are often based on exclusive religious understandings that tend to be segregative of 'other'. With that, coexistence between religious communities will be difficult to realize. This exclusive view is based on the emotional basis of defending religion (hifz al-din). On that basis, this paper wants to explore the concept of hifz al-din in the discourse of maqasid al-shari'ah and how it is understood in religious views and fatwas. The religious fatwas chosen as the focus in this study are the fatwas of Quraish Shihab concerning interaction between religious communities (Muslims and non-Muslims). This study concludes that the concept of hifz al-din is an evolving discourse (mutagayyirat). The understanding of hifz al-din actually leads not only to an exclusive religious view (min janib al-'adam), but also inclusive (min janib al-wujud). In addition, the so-called hifz al-din deals with the three dimensions of Islamic teaching, namely the laws of creed (ahkam 'i'tiqadiyah), the laws concerning deeds (ahkam 'amaliyah), and the norms of morality (ahkam khuluqiyyah). In Quraish Shihab's religious fatwas on Muslim and non-Muslim relations, for matters closely related to faith, the basis of hifz al-din that tends to be used is exclusive (min janib al-'adam) as in matters of the law of prayer in the church, or marriage between Muslims and non-Muslims. Whereas in matters that are not related at all to belief, such as in matters concerning financial transactions, the basis of hifz al-din used tends to be inclusive (min janib al-wujud).

Abstract

The city of Pasuruan is called the city of santri because of the many Islamic boarding schools with various characters, ranging from Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools, economic boarding schools, social pathology pesantren, health pesantren, language and da'wah pesantren, and integrated pesantren. Of all the characters of this complete pesantren, does it have an impact on the behavior of santri and youth around the pesantren to be able to obey Allah by avoiding immorality, eating and drinking unlawful drinks because ideally with the many pesantrens, Pemuda Pasuruan is formed into a society that is educated in Islam and is able to apply values Islamic law. With this phenomenon, researchers are interested in conducting research on the problem of how the social construction of Pasuruan youth in consuming halal or haram food and drinks? This research approach uses a sociological approach and is researched using a qualitative phenomenological method. The theory used as an analytical tool is the social construction theory of Peter L Berger and Thomas Luckman. The results of this study indicate that the youth of Pasuruan City choose between consuming and not consuming illicit goods is a social construction created by the youth themselves as individuals. Pemuda Pasuruan is a human being who is free to determine in a social world that is constructed based on his will. They are not social victims, but as production and reproduction media capable of creating their own social world. Peter L Berger and Thomas Luchman view that the two social construction models that youth created above are inseparable from a dialectical process consisting of three different moments, namely externalization, objectification and internalization.

Abstract

The decline in morals that is rife, moves researchers to study what things are reinforcing self-control and the factors that cause weak self-control. After making observations the researchers made a hypothesis, that learning monotheism can increase one's self-control. To test the truth of this hypothesis, a study was carried out with the aim of obtaining empirical data regarding the relationship between monotheism learning and self-control. By using the quantitative calculation method, it was found that research results revealed that religiosity, in this case, is devoted again to the study of monotheism. became one of the factors that led to increased self-control with a contribution of 21% with r = 0.428. The results of this study indicate that the position of monotheism learning in increasing self-control has a contribution of 21.4% and is included in the low category. These results raise further questions about what factors are the reasons so that students are weak or lacking in terms of managing their self-control, causing moral decadence in the Islamic boarding school. By using a qualitative approach method, in-depth interviews were conducted with teenage students, namely 15-17 years old. From the results of the interviews it was concluded that there were several factors that caused students to violate, namely; (1) Lack of fear of Allah, (2) Lack of teacher professionalism, (3) Crowded daily activities, and (4) Loosening of rules.

Abstract

Lately Habib in Indonesia is still being discussed. This phenomenon becomes a serious problem in religious life. Social status as a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad Shallu alaihi wasalam provides social capital in the socio-religious structure. The Taklim Assembly is an arena in the formation of religious discourse. Habib formed a patron-client for the congregation. the majority of them, are young people. The character of young people has a great tendency to be curious, likes the challenge of forming a relationship between Habib as a religious leader and young people in forming religious relations. This paper will describe Habib and Young People in Banyuwangi, This is an effort to understand that the participation of young people in forming the Taklim Assembly as a social community, which is in a collection of associations consisting of several members with bonds of interdependence consciously and please help, in the context of youth activities is evidenced by the scheduled program which is a routine agenda every week. From the religious activities of Habib's children's lovers to form a religious community, then the activism of young Habib's lovers creates a social-religious movement, with three variables, first, the political process, where Habib has power in exercising religious authority. Second, the mobilization structure, namely Habib's ability to gather young people in religious activities. Third, in the framing process differentiation occurs in young people such as pious children, hijrah, and so on.
