Abstract

Transparency and accountability are key principles of good governance, particularly in the management of state finances. Public sector audits play a strategic role in ensuring the reliability of government financial reports and enhancing public trust. However, the paradox of audit quality is still common, where government entities obtain an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) but still face financial irregularities. This situation indicates that audit quality is determined not only by the audit results but also by the characteristics of the auditor. This study aims to examine the role of auditor independence, integrity, competence, and professionalism in improving audit quality and their implications for strengthening government transparency and accountability. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing audit textbooks, national scientific journals, and regulations related to public sector audits descriptively and critically. The study results indicate that auditor independence and integrity are the main foundations in maintaining the objectivity and credibility of audits, while competence and professionalism play a role in ensuring the accuracy of audit procedures and the quality of recommendations. These four factors simultaneously improve audit quality and contribute significantly to strengthening transparency and accountability in government financial management.

Abstract

The competitiveness of frozen food Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan City is increasingly important in the context of a rapidly growing economy, especially in facing significant challenges such as intense competition. Innovation is a crucial factor in creating competitive advantage and expanding the market for frozen food MSMEs. This study analyzes the level of innovation and competitiveness of frozen food MSMEs and the influence of innovation on the competitiveness of frozen food MSMEs in Medan City. The sample of this study was all frozen food MSMEs under the guidance of the Medan City Cooperatives and SMEs Office, totaling 50 actors. This study is qualitative using a Likert scale to measure innovation and competitiveness of frozen food MSMEs, while SEM-PLS is used to analyze the influence of innovation on competitiveness. The results show that the level of innovation of frozen food MSMEs is in the good category with a score of 185.16 (74.06%). Meanwhile, the competitiveness of frozen food MSMEs is also in the good category with a score of 193 (77.2%). Furthermore, the results of SEM-PLS processing show that there is an influence of MSME actors' innovation on the competitiveness of frozen food MSMEs in Medan City, which is indicated by a P-value of less than 0.05.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of workload and work-life balance on employee job satisfaction at PT Ichiko Agro Lestari in Terentang District. The background of the study is based on the characteristics of the agribusiness sector which demands high work intensity, uncertain working hours, and limited time flexibility that have the potential to affect employee well-being. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a causal design. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to all 34 employees (total sampling). Data analysis was carried out using validity and reliability tests, as well as multiple linear regression with the help of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 software. The results showed that workload had a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction, while work-life balance did not show a significant effect partially. However, both variables simultaneously proved to have a significant effect on job satisfaction with a coefficient of determination of 41.8%. This finding indicates that proportional workload management plays an important role in increasing job satisfaction, while the implementation of work-life balance still requires more adaptive policy support.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of competence and transformational leadership style on the performance of village officials in Sandai District, Ketapang Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with a population of all village officials, while the sample was determined through a simple random sampling technique. Of the 99 targeted questionnaires, 88 questionnaires were declared eligible for analysis. The research data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the help of WarpPLS 8.0 software. The results showed that competence had a positive and significant effect on the performance of village officials. Meanwhile, transformational leadership style had a positive but insignificant effect on the performance of village officials. These empirical findings indicate that competence has a more dominant role in determining the performance of village officials than transformational leadership style. Therefore, efforts to improve the performance of village officials should be more focused on developing competence, either through training, skill improvement, or strengthening the capacity of village officials.

Abstract

Adaptive selling has become a critical competency for salespeople in increasingly dynamic, competitive, and technology-driven markets. This study aims to synthesize and integrate existing research on adaptive selling by conducting a systematic literature review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2021. Using a rigorous screening process and thematic analysis of 85 selected studies, this review identifies five dominant themes in the adaptive selling literature: conceptualization and measurement, antecedents, consequences, moderators and mediators, and contextual factors. The findings reveal that adaptive selling is shaped by a complex interaction of individual factors (such as motivation, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, and learning orientation), organizational factors (including sales training, leadership style, and organizational culture), and situational contexts (such as product complexity, competitive intensity, and sales settings). Based on these insights, this study proposes an integrative framework that links antecedents, adaptive selling behaviors, mediating mechanisms, and performance outcomes, while also accounting for contextual contingencies and feedback effects. The review highlights the strategic importance of adaptive selling in enhancing sales performance and customer outcomes. Furthermore, it identifies key directions for future research, particularly in relation to digital technologies, virtual selling environments, and the dynamic evolution of adaptive selling over time.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational behavior, inclusive work environment, and career development on the performance of Gen Z employees in Indonesia, with work engagement as an intervening variable. Given Gen Z's dominance in the modern workforce, understanding the factors that drive their productivity is crucial. The research method used was a quantitative explanatory method with a survey technique through a questionnaire to 111 Gen Z employee respondents. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) to test the structural relationships between variables as well as the moderating and mediating effects. The results show that an inclusive work environment is the most significant driver of work engagement, which then has a positive impact on improving employee performance. Career development has a positive effect, but on a smaller scale. In contrast, organizational behavior does not show a significant influence on work engagement or performance in the context of this study's respondents. These findings confirm that work engagement is a key variable that transforms organizational resources into tangible performance. Therefore, organizations are advised to prioritize the creation of an inclusive work climate to optimize the potential of young employees.

Abstract

Improving work productivity in public service agencies, such as the Population and Civil Registration Office of Bangka Belitung Province, is becoming increasingly crucial in line with the demands for service digitalization and dynamic bureaucratic efficiency. This study aims to analyze the influence of career development, organizational culture, and employee engagement on employee work productivity, with religiosity as a mediating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to all employees as research respondents. The analysis results show that career development has a positive and significant effect on religiosity and employee work productivity. Conversely, organizational culture and employee engagement do not show a significant effect on either religiosity or work productivity. Other findings reveal that religiosity is able to partially mediate the effect of career development on work productivity, but does not mediate the relationship between other variables. This study confirms that clarity of structured career development and strengthening religious values ??have a strategic role in maintaining stability and improving employee performance in the public service sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital technology use, market orientation, and entrepreneurial competence on the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with business adaptability as an intervening variable. The study used a quantitative explanatory approach with data collection through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to MSMEs using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test direct and indirect relationships between variables. The results showed that market orientation and entrepreneurial competence had a positive and significant effect on business adaptability, while the use of digital technology did not show a significant effect. Business adaptability was proven to have a positive and significant effect on MSME business growth. In addition, business adaptability significantly mediated the influence of market orientation and entrepreneurial competence on business growth, but did not mediate the influence of digital technology use. These findings confirm that business adaptability is a key capability in converting internal resources into sustainable business growth. Meanwhile, digital technology only provides optimal impact when strategically integrated and accompanied by the adaptive capabilities of business actors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Entrepreneurship Education, Family Support, and Campus Environment on Entrepreneurial Interest with Self-Efficacy as an intervening variable. The phenomenon of low entrepreneurial interest among college graduates despite various strengthening programs has been implemented is the main background of this study. Using a quantitative approach, data was collected through an online questionnaire from 125 students who have taken entrepreneurship courses. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique using SmartPLS software. The results showed that Entrepreneurship Education and Family Support have a positive and significant effect on Self-Efficacy. However, it was found that the Campus Environment has no significant effect on students' Self-Efficacy or Entrepreneurial Interest. Self-Efficacy proved to be a strong predictor of Entrepreneurial Interest and plays a significant mediator in bridging the influence of education on interest. This finding confirms that strengthening psychological aspects through self-confidence is far more effective than simply providing physical facilities on campus. This study recommends the need for synchronization between the academic curriculum and family emotional support in order to crystallize students' entrepreneurial mentality.

Abstract

The hospitality industry demands high-performance employees amidst operational dynamics and continuous service pressures. This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance, internal communication, and empowerment on employee performance, with employee engagement as an intervening variable, in a star-rated hotel in Pangkalpinang. A quantitative approach was used using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. Data were collected from 120 star-rated hotel employees selected through purposive sampling with a minimum tenure of one year. The results show that internal communication and empowerment have a positive and significant effect on employee engagement, while work-life balance has no significant effect on employee engagement. However, work-life balance has a significant direct effect on employee performance. In addition, employee engagement mediates the effect of internal communication and empowerment on employee performance, but does not mediate the effect of work-life balance. These findings confirm that in the hospitality context, relational and psychological factors of the organization are more effective in improving performance than work-life balance alone.
