Abstract

This study explores the learning strategies of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) and analyzes the moral values (akhlak karimah) found in the Wasoya book at Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah. The main problems addressed in this research are the strategies applied in the teaching of kitab kuning and how the moral values contained in Wasoya are integrated into the learning process. The kitab kuning serves as a primary source in traditional Islamic education, aiming not only to convey religious knowledge but also to instill ethical and spiritual values. This research employs a qualitative approach with field study and content analysis methods. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of teaching activities and the Wasoya text. The findings reveal that learning strategies such as bandongan, sorogan, and guided discussions are used, complemented by the habituation of moral behavior in daily life. The Wasoya book emphasizes values such as honesty, trustworthiness, humility, and compassion, which are instilled through both instruction and exemplary conduct by teachers. In conclusion, Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah effectively integrates classical text-based learning with character building grounded in Islamic moral values.

Abstract

This study aims to comparatively examine the goals of education from the perspectives of Islam and the West, highlighting the differences in philosophical foundations, value orientations, and their implications for the educational process. The main issue discussed in this study is how the differing worldviews between Islam and the West influence the formulation of educational objectives and their implementation in real life. Islamic education is based on the belief that the primary goal of education is to shape a complete human being (insan kamil) who is faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright, with education serving as a means to draw closer to Allah SWT. In contrast, Western education generally relies on the values of humanism, rationality, and individual autonomy, with the main goal of developing human potential intellectually, socially, and economically in a secular life. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, carried out by collecting data from various sources such as books, scholarly journal articles, and relevant educational documents. The analysis is conducted using a descriptive-critical approach to compare the characteristics and orientations of each educational system. The results of the study show that there are fundamental differences between Islamic and Western education, particularly in terms of the ultimate goals of education, value foundations, and moral orientations. Although both aim to shape knowledgeable and responsible individuals, these philosophical differences direct the educational process in different directions. The study recommends the integration of spiritual and moral values into modern education to make it more holistic and meaningful.

Abstract

Kolaborasi antara masyarakat dan sekolah merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa, khususnya di daerah Padangsidimpuan yang memiliki keragaman sosial dan budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk, peran, dan efektivitas sinergi antara masyarakat dengan pihak sekolah dalam mendukung pencapaian akademik siswa. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan masyarakat dalam pendidikan tidak hanya terbatas pada dukungan finansial, tetapi juga meliputi pengawasan belajar di rumah, penguatan motivasi, serta penciptaan lingkungan sosial yang kondusif. Pihak sekolah berperan sebagai fasilitator yang menjembatani komunikasi dan kerja sama dengan masyarakat melalui program parenting, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, dan forum musyawarah pendidikan. Kolaborasi yang terjalin secara berkesinambungan terbukti mampu meningkatkan motivasi, disiplin, dan prestasi akademik siswa. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya membangun kemitraan strategis berbasis partisipasi aktif masyarakat guna menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan yang holistik. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya model kolaboratif yang sistematis dan terintegrasi antara sekolah, orang tua, dan masyarakat luas.

Abstract

This study explores Al-Ghazali’s perspective on moral education and its relevance to the contemporary Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. The main problem addressed is the lack of integration between classical moral values and the modern education system. The purpose of this research is to examine Al-Ghazali's concept of moral education and analyze its alignment with current PAI curriculum approaches. The method employed is qualitative descriptive through literature study. Data were collected from Al-Ghazali's works, classical Islamic literature, and recent PAI curriculum documents. The research finds that Al-Ghazali's emphasis on soul development, self-restraint, and habitual good deeds remains highly relevant in shaping students’ character today. The contemporary PAI curriculum can enhance its effectiveness by incorporating Al-Ghazali’s ethical-sufistic principles. These findings affirm the significance of preserving Islamic scholarly heritage to address current moral challenges in education.

Abstract

Children with special needs (CWSN) require educational approaches tailored to their individual characteristics and needs. The main problems in educating CWSN include the lack of appropriate teaching strategies, limited facilities, and insufficient teacher competencies in handling diverse abilities. This study aims to identify and analyze effective educational strategies for CWSN in inclusive school settings. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach conducted at an inclusive school in Indonesia. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers, and learning documentation. The results indicate that effective educational strategies for CWSN include individualized learning plans, multisensory-based learning, collaboration between teachers and support staff, and active parental involvement. The conclusion is that the success of education for CWSN depends largely on flexible methods, teacher competence, and a supportive adaptive learning environment. Therefore, developing inclusive and child-centered learning strategies is key to achieving equitable and quality education for all children

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. PBL is a student-centered learning approach that emphasizes problem-solving as the core of the learning process. Through this method, students are encouraged to develop deeper analytical, evaluative, and synthetic skills. This study uses a quantitative method with an experimental design, where the experimental group uses the PBL model and the control group uses conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through critical thinking tests before and after the treatment. The analysis results show that the implementation of PBL significantly improves critical thinking skills compared to traditional learning methods. These findings reinforce that PBL not only helps students better understand the material but also fosters more logical, creative, and reflective thinking. Therefore, the use of the Problem-Based Learning model is recommended as an innovative strategy in education to equip students with the critical thinking skills essential for facing the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a very important role in developing moral values ​​in individuals, especially in the formation of good character and behavior. Morals in the Islamic perspective are not only limited to morality, but also include manners in relationships with Allah, fellow human beings, and the universe. Islamic education, both formal and informal, serves as a means to instill these values, leading to an integrated improvement in self-quality between spiritual, social, and emotional aspects. Through learning the Qur'an, hadith, and various other Islamic studies, students are taught to develop noble morals, such as honesty, patience, humility, and caring for others. Islamic education also encourages the application of these values ​​in everyday life, both at home, school, and in society. Teachers as agents of change are expected to be role models for students in practicing good morals. In this perspective, Islamic education not only aims to create individuals who are intellectually intelligent, but also emotionally and socially intelligent. Through a continuous educational process, moral values ​​can be continuously nurtured and applied, thus creating a more harmonious, loving, and responsible society. Thus, Islamic education plays a very vital role in shaping the character of a nation with noble character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze classroom management strategies implemented by teachers in an effort to improve students' learning discipline. Discipline is one of the important factors that influence the success of the learning process. However, in practice, various obstacles are still found, such as low student compliance with class rules and lack of responsibility in completing assignments. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method, which examines various literature related to classroom management theory and learning discipline. The results of the study indicate that effective classroom management strategies include the application of clear rules, consistency in enforcing discipline, the use of a positive approach, and strengthening interpersonal relationships between teachers and students. By implementing these strategies, teachers can create an orderly and conducive learning environment that encourages increased student discipline. These findings are expected to be a reference for education practitioners in improving the effectiveness of learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the strategies implemented by teachers in improving students' learning motivation at SDN 200212 Padang Sidempuan Selatan. Learning motivation is a key factor in determining the success of the learning process, especially at the elementary school level where the characteristics of students are still in the early stages of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, involving observation techniques, interviews with class teachers, students, and principals, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that teachers use various creative and innovative learning strategies to improve students' learning motivation, including through the use of active learning methods such as educational games, integrative thematic approaches, interesting and simple technology-based learning media, and giving awards as a form of positive reinforcement

Abstract

Abstract. Social Studies (IPS) Education in Elementary Schools and Madrasahs has a strategic role in shaping the character of students from an early age. One of its main objectives is to instill social values ​​and critical thinking skills as provisions in community life. This study aims to explore theoretical approaches in the application of social values ​​and critical thinking in literature-based IPS learning. Ideally, IPS learning should not only convey historical, geographical, and economic facts, but also instill attitudes of care, tolerance, and fairness, as well as the ability to analyze various social events in depth. Active learning strategies such as group discussions, case studies, and role simulations are recommended methods to increase student engagement and foster social awareness and critical thinking skills. A contextual curriculum, materials relevant to everyday life, and the role of teachers as facilitators are very important to support the achievement of this goal. Through the right learning approach, IPS can be a vehicle for forming a generation that is not only cognitively intelligent, but also has social awareness and reflective thinking skills. This study emphasizes the importance of pedagogical renewal and strengthening values ​​in every IPS learning process at elementary and madrasah levels.     Abstrak. Pendidikan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) di Sekolah Dasar dan Madrasah memiliki peran strategis dalam membentuk karakter peserta didik sejak dini. Salah satu tujuan utamanya adalah menanamkan nilai-nilai sosial dan kemampuan berpikir kritis sebagai bekal dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pendekatan-pendekatan teoritis dalam penerapan nilai sosial dan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran IPS berbasis literatur. Pembelajaran IPS idealnya tidak hanya menyampaikan fakta sejarah, geografi, dan ekonomi, tetapi juga menanamkan sikap peduli, toleran, dan adil, serta kemampuan menganalisis berbagai peristiwa sosial secara mendalam. Strategi pembelajaran aktif seperti diskusi kelompok, studi kasus, dan simulasi peran menjadi metode yang direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa serta menumbuhkan kesadaran sosial dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kurikulum yang kontekstual, materi yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, serta peran guru sebagai fasilitator sangat penting untuk mendukung tercapainya tujuan ini. Melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang tepat, IPS dapat menjadi wahana untuk membentuk generasi yang tidak hanya cerdas secara kognitif, tetapi juga memiliki kepedulian sosial dan kemampuan berpikir reflektif. Kajian ini menekankan pentingnya pembaruan pedagogis dan penguatan nilai dalam setiap proses pembelajaran IPS di jenjang dasar dan madrasah.
