Abstract

Lying tendencies in young children are a prevalent concern that may arise from insufficient cognitive awareness, anxiety over repercussions, or inadequate moral instruction. This study explores how teachings of Aqidah Akhlak can be utilized as a proactive measure against dishonesty in pre-schoolers residing in Semarang City. Employing a qualitative descriptive framework, the research encompasses direct observations, discussions with educators and parents, and an analysis of educational documents. Results indicate that truthfulness can be nurtured effectively through narratives, music, and dramatization that highlight moral teachings. A nurturing educational atmosphere coupled with ongoing cooperation between teachers and families is vital for reinforcing these principles. Nonetheless, the challenge remains in maintaining consistency and distinguishing between creative expressions and lies. This research emphasizes the significance of embedding moral education into everyday classroom interactions to foster honesty from a young age.

Abstract

Motivation is the main driver of learning success. Based on A Theory of Human Motivation proposed by Abraham Maslow, motivation grows gradually when basic human needs such as feeling safe, valued, and self-actualization are met. In the context of Indonesian education, which is currently transforming, harmony between fulfilling students' basic needs and technological innovation is an important key to creating a healthy and meaningful learning climate. This article examines how Maslow's principles can be applied in the school environment to increase motivation and build student resilience, namely, their ability to recover from difficulties and remain enthusiastic about learning. In the digital era, artificial intelligence (AI) is opening new paths in education by providing adaptive learning that is able to recognize individual learning needs personally and contextually. AI not only makes the learning process easier but also strengthens the human aspect of education: building empathy, self-confidence, and resilience in students. Although Maslow's theory has drawn criticism, his basic thinking remains relevant as a foundation for forming education that is more responsive, fair, and in favour of the needs of the whole person.

Abstract

This study examined classroom interaction in English Language Teaching and Learning at MTs Terpadu Berkah Palangka Raya through a qualitative case study. It aimed to identify the interaction patterns occurring during lessons and the factors that influenced interaction in improving students’ English skills. The subjects of this study were an English teacher and a class of eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Flanders Interaction Analysis Category System (FIACS). The findings showed that teacher talk dominated the classroom, while student was relatively limited and silence/confusion appeared frequently. Student participation was mainly in the form of short responses, with very few initiations. Interviews revealed that psychological and linguistic barriers such as shyness, lack of confidence, and limited vocabulary combined with external influences including teacher-centered strategies, curriculum demands, and the cultural setting of madrasah, contributed to these interactional patterns. The results of the study conclude that interactions in English classes in this context remain teacher-centered, thereby limiting opportunities for students to develop their communicative skills. The study highlights the need for more student-centered approaches to enhance participations and support language development.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to make mathematical conjectures in statistics learning, especially on the topic of measures of central tendency, which is caused by the lack of interactivity and student involvement in mathematics learning. To overcome this, the study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of Electronic Student Worksheets (E-LKPD) based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with Liveworksheet as an interactive learning medium. This study uses a research and development method (R&D) with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects of the study were seventh-grade junior high school students who participated in statistics learning. Data were collected through a mathematical conjecture ability test, observation of student engagement, and a questionnaire of student responses to the learning medium. The results showed that E-LKPD based on RME with Liveworksheet significantly improved students’ mathematical conjecture abilities, as evidenced by the increase in average scores before and after the use of the media. In addition, students showed high enthusiasm and active involvement during the learning process. In conclusion, the use of E-LKPD based on RME with Liveworksheet is effective as a tool to improve mathematical conjecture abilities in statistics learning, while increasing student motivation and participation.

Abstract

The New Student Admission System for senior high schools in Semarang still faces challenges in achieving fair and proportional selection. The dominant zoning policy often ignores students' academic potential; therefore, a more comprehensive recommendation system is needed. This study proposes the development of a deep learning-based school recommendation system using a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) architecture with a backpropagation algorithm. The dataset consists of 16 public senior high schools in Semarang, with the main variables including exam scores, age, school capacity, and distance from student residence calculated using the Euclidean distance method. The data is divided into a training set and a test set, with normalization applied to all numeric features. The training results show high accuracy. The system is able to generate school recommendation rankings that are visualized in tabular formats and interactive maps. Experimental results indicate that distance and school capacity contribute significantly to determining preference scores. Therefore, this study confirms that the deep learning approach is more adaptive than the rule-based linear method and can be an alternative solution to support a fairer and more transparent Student Admissions policy. For further research, it is recommended to develop the system by adding more diverse variables, real-time data integration, and implementing a more complex deep learning architecture to optimize the quality of recommendations.

Abstract

Mathematical abstraction skills, which include concept recognition, relationship development, and new knowledge formation, are necessary for understanding basic algebra. The abstraction process can be analyzed through students' epistemic actions using the AiC Model, which helps identify how students recognize, develop, and actively construct mathematical concepts. This study aims to explore and describe the epistemic actions of seventh-grade students in performing mathematical abstraction, thereby providing insights that can be used to develop more effective algebra teaching strategies. The results show that only S1 was able to effectively apply epistemic actions in mathematical abstraction, even though this student had not yet reached the stage of constructing new knowledge. Meanwhile, other students experienced difficulties, especially in recognizing incorrect knowledge structures and performing constructing and building actions. These difficulties were largely due to incomplete algebraic knowledge, which prevented students from using theoretical thinking effectively and reorganizing their knowledge. Based on these findings, teachers are advised to emphasize a deep conceptual understanding of algebra rather than memorization. In addition, the use of contextual and visual representations should be strengthened to help students connect concrete and abstract concepts. Teachers can also design progressive tasks that guide students through recognition, relationship building, and systematic knowledge construction.

Abstract

Affective factors such as math anxiety have become a global concern in elementary education, as they have the potential to hinder students' cognitive development and engagement in mathematics learning. In the context of public elementary schools in a semi-urban area of Sragen Regency, this study aimed to analyze the effect of learning motivation on mathematics anxiety in fourth-grade students. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, focusing on the comparison between the intervention group and the control group. A total of 95 students were selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire based on Self-Determination Theory and a validated mathematics anxiety scale. The analysis showed that increasing learning motivation significantly reduced levels of mathematics anxiety. Moreover, linear regression indicated a strong negative relationship between the two variables, with learning motivation explaining most of the variance in anxiety. These findings confirm that strengthening intrinsic motivation plays a significant role in reducing students' emotional distress towards mathematics. Therefore, motivation-based pedagogical strategies are recommended as an effective approach to creating a more positive and adaptive learning experience in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between mentorship and growth mindset among interns, with intrinsic motivation and work engagement as mediating variables. Using a quantitative approach with a correlational explanatory design, data were collected from university students participating in internship programs through a Likert-scale questionnaire adapted from standardized instruments measuring mentorship, intrinsic motivation, work engagement, and growth mindset. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The results indicated that mentorship had a positive and significant effect on the growth mindset of interns. Furthermore, intrinsic motivation and work engagement were found to partially mediate this relationship, implying that effective mentor support should be complemented by internal motivation and active involvement from students to optimize the development of a growth mindset. These findings highlight the importance of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and internship programs in developing comprehensive mentoring systems. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature on educational and organizational psychology, while practically offering insights for designing internship programs that foster adaptive, resilient, and motivated future professionals.
