Abstract

This journal explores the relationship between Confucian teachings and traditional Chinese sports, specifically Taijiquan (Tai Chi), archery, and Wushu. The study examines how Confucian principles such as balance, self-discipline, and moral character development are reflected in these sports practices. Taijiquan combines physical movements with meditation to achieve harmony between body and mind. Archery is used as a tool to develop virtues like patience and self-control. Wushu emphasizes the importance of ethics and spiritual development. A literature review method was used to analyze relevant sources, showing that traditional Chinese sports not only improve physical health but also play a crucial role in the development of moral and spiritual character. The integration of Confucian teachings into traditional Chinese sports can significantly contribute to enhancing the quality of life in society through moral development, balance, and discipline.

Abstract

VO2Max is an indicator of aerobic fitness that greatly determines performance in high-intensity sports such as basketball. This study seeks to analyze the effect of implementing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on increasing VO2Max endurance in extracurricular basketball participants at SMA Negeri 2 Kuningan. The study applied a pre-experimental methodology that included a one group pretest-posttest design. Involving a sample of 15 male students selected through purposive sampling. The measurement instrument adopted a valid and reliable Balke test to measure VO2Max. The treatment in the form of HIIT training was implemented during a span of four weeks, consisting of three sessions weekly. Data analysis used a normality test (Shapiro-Wilk), pretest results p = 0.123 and posttest p = 0.135 (> 0.05); homogeneity test p = 0.396 (> 0.05); and paired sample t-test which showed p = 0.000 (<0.05) which indicated a significant impact of HIIT on increasing VO2Max. These findings suggest that HIIT is effective in increasing VO2Max and can be implemented as a school physical training strategy. This study contributes to the development of efficient training models, and provides a basis for future studies related to the role of nutrition, sleep quality and psychological factors on VO2Max.

Abstract

Motor skills are an important aspect in the development of primary school children, which can be improved through fun physical activities such as soccer games. This game is not only interesting for children, but also plays a role in the development of gross motor (walking, running, jumping, kicking) and fine motor (concentration, eye-hand coordination, and ball control). This study aims to identify the effect of soccer games on the motor skills of elementary school children. The method used was a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The literature reviewed was selected by purposive sampling based on relevance, currency (maximum of the last 10 years, except classical theory), and academic credibility. The research instrument was a literature guide compiled based on motor development indicators. Data were collected through searches on scientific databases such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, and university digital libraries. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques, namely reading, categorizing, comparing, and compiling thematic synthesis from various sources. Results show that soccer games are effective in improving muscle strength, agility, balance, and social skills through teamwork. Therefore, soccer games are recommended as learning media in physical education in elementary schools as well as in daily play activities to support children's optimal motor development.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role and degree of artificial intelligence (AI) usage in enhancing the learning of volleyball among students in colleges of physical education. Specifically, it investigates students’ perceptions of AI's importance and the differences between undergraduate and postgraduate students in terms of their understanding and application of AI technologies. The descriptive method was employed, and the sample consisted of 200 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate students from various Iraqi universities. A 31-item questionnaire, divided into two axes. (1) the importance of AI in education and (2) the challenges of its implementation-was distributed during volleyball classes. The results showed that postgraduate students demonstrated a more consistent and logical understanding of AI's educational functions, particularly its flexibility, adaptability, and role in self-directed learning. In contrast, undergraduate students exhibited varied responses, indicating a lack of familiarity with some aspects of AI. Although the postgraduate group had higher mean scores, T-test results showed no statistically significant mean difference (p > 0.05) between the two groups.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of an innovative play-based approach in swimming instruction to enhance self-confidence, water safety awareness, and fundamental motor skills among early childhood learners. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Batuagung, Jembrana, using a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design—specifically, a non-equivalent control group design—involving 40 students aged 6–8 years. The experimental group received swimming instruction through innovative play-based methods, while the control group received conventional instruction. Instruments included a self-confidence scale based on Bandura’s self-efficacy indicators, a water safety observation sheet adapted from the Life Saving for Kids module (ILSF, 2021), and a water-contextualized version of the TGMD-2 motor skills test. All instruments were validated by experts and demonstrated high reliability (α > 0.80). Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests with SPSS version 25. The results showed significant improvements in the experimental group compared to the control group: self-confidence increased by 32%, water safety by 43%, and fundamental motor skills by 38%. These findings indicate that the innovative play-based approach creates a safe, enjoyable, and adaptive learning environment. Theoretically, the study contributes to the body of knowledge in physical education and early childhood development, while practically, it provides guidance for teachers, coaches, and curriculum developers to design swimming lessons that are holistic—addressing not only technique, but also psychological and safety aspects. This research also opens avenues for future exploration on the long-term impacts of this model on character building, emotional regulation, and its applicability to children with special needs or outdoor water-based learning environments.
