Abstract

Pneumonia in children under five remains a public health problem in the working area of Paal V Public Health Center, Jambi City. This study aimed to identify the determinants associated with the incidence of pneumonia among children under five. This quantitative study employed a case-control design involving 118 respondents, consisting of 59 cases and 59 controls selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test, and multivariate analysis using binary logistic regression. The results showed that low birth weight (LBW) (p=0.001), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.025), nutritional status (p=0.023), vitamin A supplementation (p=0.004), immunization status (p<0.001), exposure to cigarette smoke (p=0.009), and maternal knowledge level (p<0.001) were significantly associated with the incidence of pneumonia. Multivariate analysis indicated that LBW, immunization status, and maternal knowledge remained significantly associated with pneumonia, with LBW identified as the most dominant factor. It can be concluded that pneumonia prevention among children under five should focus on preventing low birth weight, improving immunization coverage, and enhancing parental health education.

Abstract

This study aims to implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) control system for a bioactive vivarium using the ESP32 microcontroller to automate microclimate regulation. The system was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) framework by integrating temperature, air humidity, and soil moisture sensors with a multi-actuator control system. PID parameters were determined through manual tuning to achieve a stable, fast response with minimal overshoot. System performance was evaluated over a ten-day testing period to assess its ability to maintain environmental conditions at predefined setpoints. The results demonstrate that the proposed system successfully maintained stable temperature, air humidity, and soil moisture within the desired thresholds. The PID feedback mechanism effectively minimized microclimate fluctuations, supported the sustainability of the vivarium ecosystem, and improved environmental control efficiency. Furthermore, integration with the Blynk platform enabled reliable real-time remote telemetry monitoring, facilitating continuous system supervision and informed decision-making by users.

Abstract

Complications of diabetes mellitus contribute to the length of hospital stay. This study aims to describe the demographic characteristics, complication status and length of hospital stay of patients with diabetes mellitus based on their complication status at Dr Hasri Ainun Habibie General Hospital, Gorontalo. This was a quantitative descriptive study with a comparative approach, utilising secondary data from inpatient medical records for the period January 2022 to December 2024. The results indicated an upward trend in the number of cases. The majority of patients were female and in the 45–54 age group. The majority experienced complications, with the distribution showing that diabetes mellitus was accompanied by other complications (non-ulcer-related), and the most common length of hospital stay was 4–7 days. In the group with a hospital stay of ?7 days, diabetes mellitus accompanied by ulcers was predominant. Strengthening diabetes management at the primary care level is necessary to prevent complications and reduce the length of hospital stay.

Abstract

Tourism is a strategic sector that plays a significant role in promoting regional economic growth by increasing community income, creating employment opportunities, and developing local potential in a sustainable manner. Wakatobi Regency is recognized as one of Indonesia’s leading marine tourism destinations, characterized by its rich marine ecosystems, coastal culture, and diverse tourist attractions. However, tourists’ visiting decisions are influenced by the quality of tourism products, price perceptions, and the effectiveness of destination promotion. This study aims to analyze the influence of tourism products, price perception, and tourism promotion on tourists’ visiting decisions at Liya Togo Tourism Village and Kapota Island, Wakatobi Regency. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed involving 44 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The findings are expected to contribute both theoretically to tourism marketing studies and practically to destination managers and local governments in developing sustainable tourism marketing strategies based on local potential.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in preventing early marriage based on the Compilation of Islamic Law and its implementation at the KUA of Sangia Wambulu District, Central Buton Regency. The study employed an empirical legal method with an empirical juridical approach. Data were collect ed through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The findings show that the KUA performs its role through administrative examinat ion and age verification of prospective spouses, premarital guidance, legal counseling, and cooperation with village governments and comm unity leaders. These efforts are consistent with the Compilation of Islamic Law, Law Number 16 of 2019, and Minister of Religious Affa irs Regulation Number 34 of 2016. However, prevention effectiveness is still influenced by cultural factors, economic conditions, low educational attainment, and the high number of marriage dispensation requests. Therefore, stronger collaboration among the KUA, government, schools, religious leaders, and communities is needed to increase legal awareness and reduce early marriage in an integrated, sustainable, effective, consistent, and comprehensive manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the judge’s legal considerations in Baubau District Court Decision Number 01/Pid/2023/PN Baubau concerning the crime of theft and the application of criminal law to the defendant. The study employs a normative legal research method using statutory and case approaches. Data were obtained through a literature review of legislation, court decisions, and relevant legal literature, and were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The findings indicate that the Panel of Judges applied Article 362 of the Indonesian Criminal Code by considering the fulfillment of the elements of theft, namely any person, taking an object, property belonging to another person, and the intent to possess it unlawfully. The judge’s considerations were based on juridical aspects, including valid evidence, and non-juridical aspects, such as aggravating and mitigating circumstances. The decision reflects legal certainty, justice, and utility, while emphasizing proportional sentencing based on the defendant’s fault and the consequences of the offense.

Abstract

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a crucial strategy for retaining customers and preventing them from switching to competitors. This study examines the effects of CRM, service quality, and trust on patient retention through patient satisfaction among inpatients using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results indicate that the measurement model satisfies the required reliability and validity criteria. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.404 for patient satisfaction and 0.554 for patient retention, indicating moderate to substantial explanatory power. CRM and service quality have positive and significant effects on both patient satisfaction and patient retention, whereas trust has no significant effect on either variable. Patient satisfaction significantly influences patient retention but does not mediate the relationships between CRM, service quality, trust, and patient retention. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening CRM implementation and improving service quality to enhance BPJS inpatient retention and foster long-term patient loyalty.

Abstract

This study examines village tourism as an experiential and contextual learning model for developing students’ creative writing skills, especially poetry. It addresses limited integration of experiential learning theory, contextual teaching and learning (CTL), and creative writing pedagogy within one framework. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, the study analyzes four poems produced after village tourism activities. Analysis focuses on sensory imagery, originality, experiential learning processes, and CTL integration. Findings show that village tourism strengthens multisensory engagement and helps students transform rural experiences into poetic imagery. Students move beyond description by reinterpreting experience through metaphorical, symbolic, and introspective language, reflecting deeper cognitive and aesthetic processing. The results align with Kolb’s experiential learning cycle and demonstrate CTL principles through inquiry, reflection, and authentic assessment. Village tourism therefore functions as a learning ecosystem linking sensory experience, cognitive interpretation, and aesthetic transformation in higher education.

Abstract

Creative poetry writing requires linguistic competence and meaningful experiences that stimulate imagination and idea generation. This study describes the implementation of a creative poetry-writing strategy using a religious tourism model and explores students’ experiences. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study involved students enrolled in a Creative Literature course at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of students’ poems, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. Findings show that religious tourism helps students generate ideas, expand imagination, and produce more meaningful poetic expressions. Visits to religious sites provided spiritual, emotional, and cultural inspiration, while also increasing motivation, creativity, and confidence. Although difficulties in diction and poetic expression remained, religious tourism proved to be an innovative experiential strategy for creative writing instruction and contributed to contextual, experience-based literary learning in higher education.
