Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of professionalism among female students of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in fostering noble character in students at SMP IT Al Munadi Medan. The early professionalism of PAI students is important to study because they often have dual roles as active students and teachers, as well as making a real contribution to the religious character education of students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subject is a sixth-semester PAI student who has been teaching since 2021. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations of learning and religious activities, and documentation, which were then analyzed using Miles & Huberman's thematic technique. The results show that the professionalism of the subject is manifested in commitment to dual roles, pedagogical skills developed through extensive experience, good time management abilities, and strategies for fostering student character through learning, religious activities, and personal exemplification. Religious activities such as halaqah, MABIT, tahfidz, congregational prayers, and the commemoration of Islamic holidays serve as effective means to internalize moral values such as honesty, discipline, and responsibility. Students' responses to the guidance are very positive, indicating the internalization of religious values. This finding emphasizes that the professionalism of PAI (Islamic Education) students is not only determined by academic status but also by moral, spiritual, and social dedication manifested through real character education practices.

Abstract

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in education has brought about significant transformations in learning methods, evaluation, and classroom management, especially at the elementary school level. This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing AI as a learning medium on improving the learning abilities of elementary school students. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, this study explores how AI can support adaptive, personal, and interactive learning. The results of the discussion show that AI provides convenience in conducting real-time learning evaluations, adjusting materials to student needs, and helping teachers monitor learning progress systematically. On the other hand, the application of AI also faces a number of challenges, such as the risk of dehumanizing the learning process, the gap in access to technology, and ethical issues of data privacy. Therefore, the integration of AI in elementary education must be carried out wisely and collaboratively, while maintaining the central role of teachers as the main guides in the learning process. In conclusion, AI has great potential in improving the quality of elementary education, but its success depends on the readiness of the education system, regulations, and ethics that accompany it.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development and implementation of the Islamic education curriculum in Indonesia and to understand the challenges faced in its implementation. The method used in this study is a qualitative study with a descriptive analytical approach through a literature review of various curriculum documents, Islamic education literature, and government policies related to Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that the Islamic education curriculum in Indonesia has undergone several stages of development, starting from the traditional period in Islamic boarding schools to the integration of the national curriculum in the modern era. The current curriculum emphasizes character building, religious moderation, and integration between religious knowledge and general knowledge. However, the implementation of the curriculum still faces obstacles such as the quality of human resources, differences between regions, and limited educational facilities. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen policies, improve teacher competence, and evaluate the curriculum on an ongoing basis so that Islamic education in Indonesia can run effectively and relevantly to the times.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using lapbook learning materials on student learning outcomes in Mathematics subjects of grade 1 of Muhammadiyah 07 Elementary School Medan Denai. The method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental design approach, especially the one group pre-test and post-test model. The research sample consisted of 13 students. The research instrument was a pretest and posttest to measure learning outcomes before and after treatment. The results showed that the average posttest score (88.92) was higher than the pretest (78.61), and all students achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) after using lapbook media. The average difference in learning outcomes of 10.31 points indicates a significant effect of using lapbook learning materials on improving students' Mathematics learning outcomes. Thus, lapbook media is effectively applied in Mathematics learning for grade 1 to improve student understanding and participation

Abstract

Discipline is one of the fundamental factors in supporting the development of students' character, especially at the eleventh-grade level of Senior High School (SMA), where students are in a crucial phase of emotional and social development. This article aims to explore in depth the role of discipline in shaping students' character using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving students and teachers at a selected high school. The research findings indicate that discipline plays a significant role in fostering positive values such as responsibility, honesty, maturity, and self-control. However, the success of implementing discipline is highly influenced by external factors such as the active involvement of teachers, parental support, and a school culture that reinforces positive behavior. Consistency in rule enforcement, exemplary conduct by educators, and a humane approach are key elements in strengthening students' character comprehensively and sustainably within the formal education environment.

Abstract

Instilling discipline is an important aspect in shaping students' personalities, leading to a responsible and orderly attitude in their daily lives. This study aims to describe the process of instilling discipline in eleventh-grade students at MAS Aisyiyah through an Islamic approach that integrates religious values into learning activities and school life. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of discipline is effective through teacher role models, habituation of religious activities, and consistent application of Islamic law-based rules. Supporting factors for success include active teacher involvement and student awareness, while the main challenges come from external environmental influences and technological developments that require synergy between schools, families, and communities to overcome them. This study confirms that the Islamic approach can be an effective medium in developing students' discipline in a religious-based school environment.

Abstract

Character development through education is one of the main goals of the national education system, especially in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Pesantren Baiturrahmi, as a traditional and modern Islamic educational institution, places Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the core of developing students' (santri) personalities. This article explores in greater depth the role and effectiveness of IRE learning in shaping the character of students at Pesantren Baiturrahmi, highlighting the methods, approaches, challenges, and evaluation of the program’s success. The research was conducted through literature studies, observation, and interviews with pesantren administrators and students. The results of this study show that Islamic Religious Education at Pesantren Baiturrahmi plays a strategic role in shaping the students’ character holistically. Through an integrative curriculum, varied teaching methods, value habituation, and intensive supervision, the pesantren is able to produce students who are knowledgeable, have noble character, and are ready to contribute positively to society. The existing challenges must be addressed with innovation and cross-sector collaboration to ensure that pesantren remain relevant and excel in shaping the character of the nation's future generations.

Abstract

The celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17th is not only a historical commemoration but also holds potential as a character education medium within pesantren environments. This study aims to examine how the implementation of Independence Day competitions at the Aliyah level of Pesantren Tahfizh Ibnu Aqil serves as a means of internalizing educational values among students. The competitions include quiz contests, ranking 1 contests, proclamation text reading, national and regional song choir, classroom decoration, and bulletin board contests all designed to be educational and contextually relevant. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation throughout the activities. The results show that these competitions effectively foster essential character values such as nationalism, cooperation, responsibility, discipline, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning. The active participation of 111 students across six Aliyah classes demonstrates that these activities holistically and sustainably shape the students’ character.

Abstract

Students' interest in learning jurisprudence in class XI is often still low, resulting in a less optimal learning process and understanding of the material. This problem is caused by learning methods that are less interesting and less actively involving students. To overcome this, this research examines the use of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method as an alternative learning strategy that solves problems collaboratively. The Poblem Based Learning method is applied by giving students real problems that must be solved and solved in groups, thus creating an active and participatory learning atmosphere. Data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the learning process. Data analysis is done descriptively to understand changes in students' interest in learning in depth. The results of the research show that the application of Poblem Based Learning can significantly increase students' interest in learning, as evidenced by the high participation, enthusiasm, and positive response of students during jurisprudence learning. This finding confirms that the Problem Based Learning method is effective in motivating and increasing student engagement, as well as enriching the learning experience in jurisprudence subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perception of grade XII students of SMA Istiqlal Deli Tua regarding the role of family in character formation. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects consisted of three students who were selected purposively based on the representation of family backgrounds and involvement in character activities in the school. The data collection technique was carried out through semi-structured interviews and documentation, while the data analysis followed the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that students view family as the main factor in character formation, especially in the aspects of discipline, responsibility, empathy, and respect. Parental examples, open communication, habituation of positive values, and emotional support at home are the dominant factors that shape students' character. In contrast, students who come from families with permissive parenting tend to have difficulty maintaining character values at school. This perception confirms that the success of character education in schools is highly dependent on alignment with the values instilled in the family. Therefore, intensive cooperation between schools and families is needed to create an environment conducive to strengthening students' character.
