Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning interest of students in the Arabic language subject at Grade XII of Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Nurul Azmi Medan. Based on the results of observations and interviews with several teachers and students, it was found that the learning methods used were still conventional and monotonous, causing students to be less enthusiastic and easily bored. The purpose of this study is to examine the improvement of students’ learning interest through the application of the Wordwall learning media. This media was chosen because it is visual, creative, and encourages active student engagement in creating learning materials. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using Kurt Lewin’s model, which consists of two cycles. Each cycle included the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The pre-cycle observation of 19 students indicated that learning interest was still relatively low, with an average achievement of 49% based on four interest indicators. This was evident from the improvement in students’ participation, attention, and enthusiasm during the learning process. The percentage of learning interest increased from 49% in the pre-cycle to 84% in Cycle I. Furthermore, it increased to 87% in Cycle II. These findings demonstrate that the use of Wordwall as a learning medium is able to create a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, while also providing opportunities for students to express their ideas creatively. Therefore, Wordwall can be considered an effective alternative learning medium to enhance students’ learning interest, particularly in theoretical subjects such as Arabic.

Abstract

This article examines the importance of students' manners toward teachers from the perspective of Islamic education, which has recently been seen as declining. The purpose of this research is to provide students with an understanding that manners are more important than knowledge. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach in the form of a literature study, examining books, classical texts, and the contents of the Quran related to this discussion. The results found that manners encompass not only external respect but also reflect internal attitudes that influence the formation of students' character, spirituality, and intellect. Based on an analysis of Surah Al-Kahf (verses 65-70), several important principles are explained, such as respect, patience, asking permission from the teacher, acknowledging the teacher's knowledge, being serious in learning, and avoiding negative prejudice. These principles are relevant in modern education to create harmonious relationships between students and teachers, thus supporting an effective and meaningful learning process. This research highlights that manners toward teachers serve not only as a form of etiquette but also as a way to maintain noble values ​​in facing the challenges of the times.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is a foundational subject in Indonesia, essential for molding students' character and moral compass. This research focuses on its role in character development at SMAS Istiqlal Deli Tua. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that PAI teachers serve multiple functions: they are educators, role models, motivators, and mentors who help students internalize Islamic values. The study highlights several key strategies, such as integrating religious habits into daily life, reinforcing the teacher's role as an example, incorporating Islamic values into lessons and extracurriculars, and collaborating with parents. These methods are crucial for fostering students' religious awareness, discipline, social responsibility, and empathy. Despite modern challenges like the influence of social media, PAI remains a vital force in shaping student character in today's digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using the Educaplay educational game in improving Arabic language learning outcomes for 11th-grade science students at Mas Al-Manar Medan. Adopting a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, the research involved 25 students selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a pretest, posttest, observation sheets, and a student perception questionnaire. Data analysis used a Paired Sample T-Test to compare pretest and posttest scores, as well as descriptive analysis for the observation and perception data. The results show a highly significant increase in students' average scores after the intervention, rising from 40.36 on the pretest to 71.16 on the posttest. This improvement is supported by observation data, which indicates increased active student participation, and questionnaire results, which reveal students' positive perceptions of this learning method. In conclusion, the use of the Educaplay educational game is highly effective in improving Arabic language learning outcomes, motivation, and student participation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for developing students’ religious character through routine religious programs at SMA Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan. The research is grounded in the urgency of religious character education amid challenges of moral degradation, popular culture, and the penetration of digital technology. A qualitative case study design was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation of sources to ensure validity. The findings reveal that the strategies for religious character formation are carried out in a structured, continuous, and collaborative manner. These strategies include teacher role modeling as uswah hasanah, habituation of worship practices such as the one day one verse program, sholat dhuha, morning dzikir, and congregational prayers, active student participation in religious leadership, evaluation of Qur’an memorization through weekly and annual tahfiz assessments, as well as the reinforcement of a religious culture through Islamic holidays and social activities. The study concludes that these strategies effectively enhance students’ religiosity, strengthen the role of teachers as role models, and foster a distinctive religious school culture. This model can serve as an implementable reference for other Islamic schools in nurturing a generation with Islamic character and integrity

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Wordwall media in improving students’ understanding of Islamic Religious Education concepts, specifically on the topic of syu‘abul iman, in grade X at SMA IT Unggul Almunadi. The background of this research stems from the challenges of PAI learning, which is often considered monotonous, especially in teaching syu‘abul iman with its numerous and abstract branches. The research employed a qualitative case study method. The subjects were grade X students, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using source triangulation. The findings reveal that Wordwall effectively enhances students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Students were able to understand and classify the branches of faith more easily, showed greater motivation and confidence, and actively participated in class activities. Supporting factors included teacher readiness, students’ digital literacy, and the relevance of media to the material, while barriers involved limited internet, devices, and time. Thus, Wordwall serves as an innovative alternative for creating interactive, enjoyable, and meaningful PAI learning.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of active learning methods in improving students' understanding of Moral Aqeedah in class XII Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizil Qur'an Medan Yayasan Islamic Center. Based on research results, the application of active learning methods through the stages of material preparation, selection of methods, media, and strategies, implementation (teacher as facilitator, discussion activities, presentations, and case studies), as well as evaluation (tests, attitude observations, projects, and authentic assessments) can increase student engagement. Students become more active in asking, arguing, and working together, as well as having a deeper understanding of the concept of Aqidah Akhlak. They can also connect the material with everyday life, so that Islamic moral values ​​can be internalized more effectively. Factors supporting the application of this method include the support of the madrasah environment, the availability of infrastructure, and the readiness of teachers. Meanwhile, the obstacles faced are time constraints, variation in students' abilities, and the habit of lecture methods that are still attached. Overall, active learning proved to be effective not only in improving students' cognitive understanding, but also in strengthening their Islamic attitudes and behaviors in accordance with the educational goals of Aqidah Akhlak.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the students' strategies in maintaining a balance between memorizing the Qur'an and general lessons at Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizil Qur'an Medan. This research uses a qualitative approach with the participatory observation method, where the researcher directly observes the daily activities of students, including memorization patterns, learning activities, and interactions in the madrasah environment. The results of the research show that students have a structured daily activity pattern, starting from the morning muraja'ah, general lessons, memorization deposit, until the night muraja'ah. The applied balance strategy includes time management through the preparation of personal schedules and study discipline, energy management by maintaining health and rest, as well as motivational strategies through teacher encouragement, family support, and a religious pesantren environment. This finding is in line with previous research that confirms the importance of tahfiz and general curriculum integration and the role of effective madrasa management. This research concludes that the success of students in maintaining a balance between tahfiz and academics is determined by a combination of internal factors (discipline and self-motivation) and external factors (teacher support, family, and madrasah curriculum policy).

Abstract

The learning of the Qur’an and Hadith plays an important role in shaping students’ noble character (akhlaq karimah). This study aims to analyze the implementation of Qur’an and Hadith learning at MA Rohani Ikhwanul Muslimin in fostering students’ character development. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis & McTaggart model through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that learning strategies combining intracurricular activities, daily worship practices, and religious extracurricular activities were effective in fostering students’ honesty, discipline, tolerance, and social awareness. This success was supported by teachers’ role modeling, the integration of moral values into the curriculum, and a religious school culture, although there were still obstacles such as limited time, family background, and the influence of social media. In conclusion, Qur’an and Hadith learning not only serves as a transfer of knowledge but also as a strategic instrument in shaping students’ noble character to face modern challenges based on Islamic values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the tikrar method in memorizing the Qur'an at SMK Swasta Mulia Medan Tanjung Sari, Medan Selayang. The tikrar method is a memorization method carried out by continuously repeating verses so that they are embedded in long-term memory. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the tikrar method is very effective in helping children or students memorize the Qur'an, especially with the strategies of repeating memorization after prayer, tasmi' (delivering memorization), and murajaah (repetition of memorization). This method also encourages discipline in time management and forms the habit of repeating memorization at various opportunities. Obstacles encountered include difficulty managing time, similar verses, and psychological factors such as boredom. However, with motivation, a supportive environment, and guidance from the school's tahfidz teacher, all students were able to overcome these challenges and achieve the target of memorizing 30 juz within the desired time frame.
