Abstract

This study aims to explore how teachers at YPI Qowwiy Azizi act as role models in teaching students the value of honesty. Honesty is one of the essential foundations of character education for children, and it needs to be nurtured from an early age through consistent example—especially from figures of authority like teachers. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research gathered data through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving both teachers and students. The findings reveal that the way teachers behave—both in and outside the classroom—has a significant influence on how students develop honest attitudes. The study highlights that consistency in the teachers’ actions, clear and open communication, and their willingness to model honesty in everyday situations are key factors in successfully fostering this value. Overall, the presence of teachers as positive role models plays a critical role in shaping students’ moral character, particularly in relation to honesty. These findings suggest that such role modeling can be a powerful and effective strategy in school-based character education programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze various tools of Islamic education from a contemporary perspective and to examine their implications for the learning process and character development of students. In the modern era, marked by technological advancement and rapid socio-cultural changes, Islamic education is required to adapt while maintaining its fundamental values. The method used in this research is library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data were obtained through analysis of classical and contemporary literature, including scientific journals, reference books on Islamic education, and relevant research findings. The results of the study indicate that Islamic educational tools are not limited to conventional media such as books and blackboards, but also include digital media, social environments, teacher role models, and the integration of spiritual values into learning technology. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of developing Islamic educational strategies that are contextual, innovative, and grounded in the principles of monotheism (tawhid), ethics (akhlaq), and transcendental awareness. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic educational practices that are more relevant to contemporary needs.

Abstract

This study aims to thoroughly examine the challenges and opportunities faced by the Islamic education curriculum in the context of the ever-evolving globalization. Globalization has brought significant changes across various aspects of life, including the field of education, which demands the Islamic education curriculum to transform in order to remain relevant to current developments without losing the essence of Islamic teachings. The primary focus of this study is to identify both external and internal factors that influence the Islamic education curriculum and to formulate adaptive strategies that can be applied in its development. This research adopts a qualitative approach using library research and content analysis methods on curriculum documents, academic literature, national education policies, and the perspectives of Islamic education experts. Data were collected from various relevant primary and secondary sources and analyzed descriptively and critically to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issues discussed. The results show that the Islamic education curriculum faces several significant challenges in the era of globalization, including the dominance of foreign cultural values, the imbalance between religious and secular sciences, and limited innovation in teaching methods. Nevertheless, globalization also presents great opportunities for curriculum enhancement through the integration of educational technology, international collaboration among Islamic institutions, and the development of a character-based and globally competent curriculum.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the Ummi method in improving the ability to read the Qur'an, particularly in terms of fluency and accuracy of recitation. The background of this research is the reality that many children and adults are still unable to read the Qur'an well and accurately. This is often caused by a less effective learning approach that does not adequately address emotional aspects and intensive practice in learning. The Ummi Method is a relatively new approach but has been used by more than a thousand educational institutions in Indonesia. This research employs a library research approach, examining various sources of literature such as scientific journals, books, and previous research findings. The study results show that the Ummi method adopts a learning approach that combines the direct method (reading directly without spelling), repetition, and affection as its pedagogical foundation. In addition, this method is equipped with seven basic programs such as tashih, tahsin, certification, coaching, supervision, munaqasyah, and khotaman, which aim to ensure the overall quality of learning. This study concludes that the Ummi method can significantly improve the quality of students' Quran recitation if applied consistently and supported by the readiness of teachers and good institutional management. However, challenges are still found in the limitations of time, teacher creativity, and the character conditions of the students. Therefore, the success of this method is highly determined by the collaboration of teachers, parents, and a supportive learning environment

Abstract

In today's modern era, technological development has progressed rapidly to facilitate various human activities. A wide range of technologies can now be easily found, one of the most popular being gadgets. Gadgets are small-sized electronic devices designed with specific functions and ease of use, capable of delivering technological innovations that enhance efficiency in daily life. Thus, gadgets can be considered a form of technological advancement. However, it cannot be ignored that gadget use also brings both positive and negative impacts, especially for young children. This study aims to examine the extent of the influence of gadgets on the psychological development of early childhood. Considering that gadgets can be accessed by anyone and used for various purposes depending on the owner's needs, the role of parents becomes crucial in supervising and limiting gadget use among children, particularly at vulnerable ages such as early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth how the management strategies of the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program are implemented to improve the quality of Qur’an memorization among students at Ma’had Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and systematic field observations. The results show that the implementation of structured and sustainable management strategies—including activity planning, selection of appropriate teaching methods, and regular evaluation of memorization—has a significant positive impact on improving students' memorization achievements. In addition, intensive guidance and consistent supervision also play an important role in maintaining the quality of memorization and students’ overall learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) program in shaping students' character at Al-Munaya Integrated Islamic Elementary School. The research uses a qualitative method with a combination of literature review and field research approaches. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, involving the school principal, subject teachers, and students’ parents. The findings indicate that the implementation of the PAI program consists of three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Supporting factors in character development include strong school commitment, active parental involvement, and a supportive environment that encourages religious activities such as Quran study groups. On the other hand, inhibiting factors include a lack of parental supervision, PAI activities that are not always conducted effectively, and the negative impact of smartphones, such as access to social media, music, videos, and games. Overall, the PAI program is considered fairly effective in developing students' faith, morals, religious values, and humanity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the social environment in shaping students' character through a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Students' character is not only formed through formal education at school, but is also greatly influenced by the surrounding social environment, such as family, peers, society, and social media. In this study, the author analyzed various literatures and previous research results to identify social factors that play an important role in character formation. The results of the study indicate that the social environment has a significant influence on the development of moral values, attitudes, and behavior of students. Positive social interactions tend to shape good character, such as honesty, responsibility, and empathy. Conversely, a negative social environment can hinder the development of ideal character. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between schools, families, and communities in creating a conducive environment for the formation of superior student character.

Abstract

Female students enrolled in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) program face a range of complex academic challenges in today’s educational landscape. These include high academic demands, time constraints, psychological pressure, and limited access to knowledge. This study aims to explore and analyze the strategies employed by female PAI students in Class E1 Morning to navigate these academic challenges. Utilizing a qualitative research method with a case study approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The participants consisted of three sixth-semester PAI students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. The findings reveal that the most commonly adopted strategies include priority-based time management, the internalization of Islamic values, strong learning motivation, and seeking social support from both the university and their families. Additionally, students implemented various other approaches, such as forming study groups, leveraging information technology, and enhancing interpersonal skills. The effectiveness of these strategies is further influenced by intrinsic motivation and a supportive learning environment. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of academic support services tailored to the needs of female PAI student.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the internal and external factors that influence adolescents’ learning motivation from the perspective of educational psychology, as well as to formulate effective strategies for fostering their enthusiasm for learning. Adolescence is a crucial phase in shaping character and life direction, making learning motivation a vital aspect in supporting academic achievement and personal development. The method used in this study is library research, by collecting and analyzing various scholarly sources such as educational psychology textbooks, academic journals, and relevant previous studies. The findings show that internal factors such as learning interest, self-confidence, and life goals play a significant role in shaping adolescents’ motivation to learn. On the other hand, external factors such as parental support, teacher roles, school environment, and peer influence also have a strong impact. The lack of one or more of these factors can reduce motivation and engagement in the learning process. Therefore, synergy between family, school, and community environments is needed to create a supportive learning atmosphere. This study recommends a holistic and empathetic approach to nurturing adolescents’ learning motivation so they can grow into independent and high-achieving individuals.
