Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of character education at SD Negeri 105 Palembang within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was gathered through observations, interviews with 10 teachers and 15 parents, and questionnaires distributed to 30 students. The findings reveal that character education, in line with the values of the Pancasila Student Profile, has been effectively incorporated, although there are challenges such as limited resources and a lack of parental involvement. Teachers utilize flexible teaching strategies, like project-based learning, to instill values such as collaboration, independence, and creativity. This study demonstrates how the flexibility of the Merdeka Curriculum enables a more adaptive and personalized approach to character education in elementary schools. The results also stress the importance of stronger collaboration between schools, parents, and the community to optimize students' character development. This research contributes to the discussion on character education in Indonesia, particularly within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, which offers more opportunities for teachers to innovate and develop education that meets students' needs. The study provides insights into how character education can be implemented within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum at SD Negeri 105 Palembang.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Kokapal game (Palembang Vocabulary Cards) in increasing students’ learning interest in the Baso Palembang subject in Class VI B at SDN 021 Palembang. Students’ learning interest is a crucial aspect of the learning process, especially in local language education, which is often perceived as less engaging by students. Using a quasi-experimental approach, this research involves Class VI B students as research subjects, comparing their level of learning interest before and after the application of the Kokapal game. Data were collected through observations, learning interest questionnaires, and interviews with students and teachers to obtain a comprehensive understanding of students’ perceptions of the applied learning method. The results of the study indicate that the use of the Kokapal game significantly increases students’ learning interest, marked by enhanced active participation and enthusiasm in the learning process. The implications of this study suggest that game-based learning methods can be an effective alternative to increase students’ interest in Baso Palembang and have the potential to be applied to other subjects as well.

Abstract

Reading literacy is a basic skill that is important in supporting the academic and social development of elementary school students. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in improving students' reading literacy, including learning methods, media use, and mentoring strategies. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method involving teachers and students in several elementary schools as subjects. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that teachers have a crucial role as facilitators, motivators, and innovators in literacy learning. The use of activity-based approaches, such as shared reading, storytelling, and literacy games, has been shown to be effective in increasing students' interest and reading ability. In addition, the use of technology, such as interactive learning applications, and the provision of an environment rich in reading materials, also supports literacy development. However, the study also found challenges, such as limited learning time, lack of access to quality reading materials, and differences in student ability levels. Therefore, ongoing training is needed for teachers to improve their competence in implementing effective literacy strategies. This study concludes that the active and adaptive role of teachers is very influential in building a strong literacy culture in elementary schools.
