The Journal of Social Work and Science Education (JSWSE) is firmly established as an authoritative voice in the world of social work and science education with E-ISSN: 2723-6919 and P-ISSN 2746-0827. JSWSE publishes scholarly papers that focus on the social science, teaching and learning, science in school settings ranging from early childhood to university education. It bridges the gap between research and practice, providing information, ideas and opinion. As a truly international journal, JSWSE welcomes contributions from any country provided that the authors explain their local contexts and demonstrate the significance of their work for a global readership. Special emphasis is placed on applicable research relevant to social sciences, educational practice, educational realities in systems, schools, colleges and universities. JSWSE is concerned with social science and science education but also welcomes manuscripts on the integration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or, geography, and the arts. It is published by Yayasan Sembilan Pemuda Indonesia and it will regularly be published three times a year, in April, August, and December.

Abstract

The low performance of teachers is sometimes caused by unsustainable supervision activities carried out in schools, besides that the level of professionalism of teachers in implementing learning is not optimal and the work environment is inadequate. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the effect of improving teacher performance through the academic supervision of the school principal, teacher professionalism and the work environment. This research uses quantitative methods. The data collected in this study were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The analysis used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the influence of the principal’s academic supervision, teacher professionalism, and the work environment jointly affect teacher performance. If academic supervision activities are carried out effectively and continuously, then the teacher’s ability to carry out learning is carried out in a professional manner and the work environment, in addition to meeting standards, also provides positive benefits for teachers, the teacher’s performance will increase.

Abstract

The role of the school as a place to educate and develop students’ potential must have leaders who can analyze school needs and solve problems that arise. The poor quality of teachers is a problem that cannot be separated from the role of the principal in the world of education. The writer finds that many educators are not professional in learning mastery. The purpose of this study was to determine the principal’s leadership in fostering teacher professionalism at SD Negeri 17 Banyuasin 1 and its supporting and inhibiting factors. This study uses a qualitative method, namely descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques used are interviews and observation. The results show the principal’s ability to lead, inspire, motivate, supervise, guide, find, and give orders to his staff members. The obstacles can be in the form of facilities and infrastructure in supporting learning, as well as the lack of attention from parents.

Abstract

This study examined the organizational culture and work discipline on teacher’s professionalism. This study belongs to qualitative method. The data were collected using questionnaire and documentation. The results showed organizational culture and work discipline significantly influences the professionalism of SMA Negeri 1 Belimbing teachers both partially and simultaneously. This study reveals the principals to more pay attention the organizational culture and work discipline where they will gain teacher’s professionalism.

Abstract

This study examined the organizational culture and work motivation on teacher’s performance. This study used qualitative method. The data were collected using questionnaire and documentation. The results showed organizational culture and teacher’s motivation partially and together have a significant effect on the performance of SMA Negeri 1 Belimbing teachers. This study states to focus the organizational culture and work motivation in order to achieve good teacher’s performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence between the principal’s participatory leadership and school culture on the job satisfaction of teachers of SMA Negeri in Prabumulih Timur District. The population of this study were teachers at State Senior High Schools in East Prabumulih District, namely State Senior High School 3 and State Senior High School 7 Prabumulih, totaling 167 teachers and the research sample was taken using the Slovin formula as many as 96 teachers. This type of research uses quantitative research with correlation and quantitative descriptive research methods, while the sampling is done by random sampling. the research instrument uses a questionnaire or questionnaire that has been tested for validity and tested for reliability. The results of the research hypothesis using the regression test, namely simple linear regression and multiple linear regression using SPSS indicate that there is a significant influence between the principal’s participatory leadership on teacher job satisfaction, school culture on teacher job satisfaction in SMA Neger in Prabumulih Timur District with a significant value of p <0 .05, namely 0.000, it can be concluded if the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Then between the principal’s participatory leadership and school culture on the job satisfaction of public high school teachers in East Prabumulih District is at a level of p <0.05 which is equal to 0.000, so the alternative hypothesis is accepted which means that there is a significant influence simultaneously between the principal’s participatory leadership and culture schools on the job satisfaction of public high school teachers in East Prabumulih District.

Abstract

National defense needs to be built to deal with threats that come from within and outside the country, this requires meeting the needs of the military in carrying out its functions, one of these needs is defense equipment but these needs cannot be fulfilled alone but still rely on other countries. This poses a threat if at any time you get an embargo sanction. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Anticipation of Indonesian Embargo Sanctions in the Aspect of National Defense. The research method uses qualitative research methods with a qualitative descriptive design. The results of the study show that the steps to anticipate government embargo sanctions have taken several things including realizing defense independence by empowering the domestic Defense Industry, as well as Confidence Building Measure Diplomacy to create mutual trust with other countries as well as carrying out diversification policies aimed at creating variations in meeting defense needs.

Abstract

This paper aims to provide an understanding of parenting style in order to realize the golden character of the alpha generation. The method used is literature. The findings show that in this increasingly sophisticated digital era, it has greatly influenced the mental development of the alpha generation which is very dependent on technology, many parents are negligent in supervising children, thus triggering children to commit deviant actions, for this reason, parents as educators The main role in the family must be able to educate and raise children to create good characters as early as possible. In the Qur'an there are many examples of parenting styles that have been applied by the prophet and previous people that can be applied today. Parenting styles that parents can adopt are authoritarian, democratic and permissive parenting styles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of multimedia on the religious character of students in learning Islamic Religious Education in class VII SMP Negeri 2 Bengkulu Utara. This type of research is quasi-experimental research, the research method used in this study is quantitative. The data collection techniques used by researchers are questionnaires, observation sheets, and documentation. In this study there are two variables, namely Variable X (Multimedia Influence) and Variable Y (Religious Character). The research population was all students of class VII, totaling 147 students, from class VII.A to class VII.E and the sample of this study, 31 students of class VII.C as the control class and 27 students of class VII.E as the experimental class. The research results that there is influence of multimedia on the religious character of students in learning Islamic Religious Education in class.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to investigate the school health business management in State Primary School 157 Palembang. This study was carried out in qualitative and interview was used as instrument. The results showed that the health business management has been going well because in its implementation it has involved all parties, from the school principal, teachers, students, staff, school committee, health center staff and the surrounding community. It contributes to others school to apply health business management as what was done in State Primary School 157 Palembang.

Abstract

In 188 countries, school closures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have prevented more than 91% of students from attending classes (UN, 2020). In the new normal period where face-to-face learning starts to be carried out again as it is today, teachers who perform well will become the driving force for expediting the teaching and learning process. The performance of State Vocational School instructors in Ogan Ilir District will be examined in this quantitative study in relation to the influence of the school principal’s academic oversight and the function of the school committee. Using a Likert scale, a questionnaire was employed as the data gathering tool. The Slovin approach was used to choose 158 participants from a population of 261 State Vocational High School instructors in the Ogan Ilir Regency. The range of norms for each variable falls into the sufficient category, according to the results of the descriptive statistical analysis. Inferential statistics that employ both basic and multiple linear regression to evaluate hypotheses. The analysis’s findings indicate that the school principal’s oversight of academics and the function of the school committee have a favorable impact on the performance of instructors at State Vocational Schools in the Ogan Ilir District.
