Abstract

This article discusses the important role of human resources (HR) in Human Capital Management (HCM) with a theoretical basis from various experts, as well as global case studies that illustrate the implementation of the role of HR in HCM. Based on the theory outlined in "Armstrong's Handbook of Human Resource Management Practice," HCM underscores the importance of managing human capital as a strategic asset that contributes to the achievement of organizational goals. Experts such as Gary Becker, David Ulrich, and Michael Armstrong state that investing in developing employee skills and knowledge is the key to increasing a company's productivity and profitability. In a global context, case studies show that the role of HR has evolved to become more strategic, not only managing employees but also adapting to current trends in human resource management. These trends include employee well-being, skills-based hiring, work flexibility, hybrid learning, ESG reporting, and interpersonal skills development. The role of HR in HCM is about transforming human resources into the main force that drives organizational growth and sustainability through effective and adaptive management strategies.

Abstract

This research explores the application of Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles in developing the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) for the WebMed telemedicine application. The HCD method employed consists of three main stages: inspiration, ideation, and implementation. In the inspiration phase, data collection was conducted through observation and questionnaires to understand user needs. The ideation phase involved brainstorming and prototyping using Figma. The prototype included features such as a home page, list of doctors, list of medications, payment, and invoice. During the implementation phase, the prototype was tested by potential users. Test results showed general satisfaction with the UI/UX design, but also identified some areas requiring improvement, such as the home page appearance and menu icon design. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the HCD approach in developing digital health applications that meet user needs, while emphasizing the importance of continuous iteration and testing in the UI/UX development process.

Abstract

Climate change has become a global concern. In Indonesia, a deep understanding of climate change patterns is increasingly important in planning effective mitigation and adaptation measures. In this study, we explore the utilization of big data analytics to understand climate change patterns and identify trends findings related to climate patterns in Indonesia based on variables such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind speed. Data used were collected from satellite observations, weather stations from 2010 to 2020. Purpose this study aims to explore the utilization of big data analytics in understanding climate change patterns in Indonesia, with a focus on identifying trends and recent findings in climate patterns. Methodology–We applied big data analytics techniques such as descriptive statistical analysis, spatial regression modeling, and cluster analysis to identify climate change patterns and recent trends in Indonesia. Findings–Through big data analysis, we successfully identified significant climate change patterns in Indonesia. Practical implications the findings of this study can provide a better understanding of climate change dynamics in Indonesia, serving as a basis for decision-making in natural resource management, disaster risk mitigation, and climate change adaptation strategies at both regional and national levels and can serve as a reference for researchers.

Abstract

Credit card fraud is a widespread problem that impacts both individuals and companies. Data mining provides a powerful solution to not only detect but also prevent this type of fraud. This research explores this approach by utilizing data mining classification techniques to determine the potential for fraudulent credit card transactions. Data from various sources is collected and processed to extract relevant features. This research will compare 8 classification algorithms, namely Naive Bayes, Decision Trees, Artificial Neural Network, SVM, Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, LDA and Random Forest, in classifying transactions as legitimate or fake. These findings suggest that the combined use of these data mining classification methods offers a powerful tool in combating credit card fraud. To combat the problem of credit card fraud and maintain financial security for both individuals and institutions, this researcher explores the power of data mining. By using potential classification techniques, this research aims to predict fraudulent transactions on credit cards.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a supermarket disaster country. Responding to various disasters that have occurred, and even potential disasters, has prompted various parties to take concrete steps as disaster mitigation efforts. Communication plays a crucial role in disaster information flow. Communicators, in this case, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and authorized parties, are key to the smooth dissemination of disaster messages/information. However, the community, as the affected party in disasters, also needs to be provided with clear information on how to deal with disaster situations. This article aims to identify and explain the application of learning theories in the context of disaster communication, describe the development of disaster communication research in Indonesia, and discuss the implementation of disaster education concepts in various countries. The method used is a literature review from related ebooks and journals. The results obtained are as follows: First, communication and disaster education are interrelated in order to enhance disaster literacy across all regions. Second, communication plays a primary role in disaster education programs from the government's policy-making perspective, institutions observing disaster issues, and the community (disaster victims). Effective, efficient, and targeted information flow is crucial both in pre-disaster, during a disaster, and post-disaster phases. Third, there is a need to integrate disaster education into the curriculum, both at the school and university levels. This ensures that each individual knows and understands what to do when a disaster occurs, how we perceive disasters, and so on. Additionally, various theoretical approaches can be used to study disaster communication in an educational context, including: Behavioral learning, which focuses on observable behaviors, Cognitive Learning, which views learning as a mental process, Affective learning, which is related to emotions and affection and plays a role in learning, and Social learning, which views disaster learning as a social process where knowledge is collectively built within a specific social environment.

Abstract

Purpose – The research aims to observe the preferences and decisions regarding the consumption of digital mass media within marginalized communities and the adaptation process of communities concerning digital communication technology. Design/methodology/approach – This research is a qualitative approach, specifically using the phenomenological method. The primary data is collected through observations while interviews used as secondary data. Subsequently, all the data is carefully selected, processed, and analyzed within the framework of technological determinism theory. Findings – Lower-cost cellular and Android devices offer a potential solution to accessibility barriers in the market, despite their minimal quality. However, significant challenges persist, including knowledge gaps, technological inadequacies, and limited digital literacy skills become obstacles to broader technological usage. Research limitations/implications – This study specifically targets marginalized communities in Bekasi, recognizing their restricted digital access and reliance on fishing as a livelihood. However, it does not extend its scope to encompass marginalized groups across Indonesia as a whole. Practical implications – The results obviously offer ideas in practical digital media literacy for similar communities and government to improve community capabilities in consuming media information. Originality/value – this research contributes the digital media literacy formula and encourages the pursuit digital technology for marginal community, through consumption of good news.
